Translated literature as a guarantor of linguistic and cultural diversity: a round-trip journey
traductores, editoriales y temes trataos. Dalgunes de les conclusiones permÃtennos
alvertir la importancia del mecenalgu na traducción n’Asturies; la xera de les
editoriales asturianes; la presencia de la lliteratura infantil y xuvenil como una de les
siendes del afitamientu de la llingua, xunto col de la traducción de los clásicos universales
de la lliteratura y, caberamente, too ello déxanos definir cuál ye la función
de la traducción nesti contestu.Throughout the history of translation, literature and literary translation
have been two artistic expressions feeding off each other. In the case of the Asturian language, we observe from the rebirth of Asturian literature (Surdimientu) how the
increase in translation has grown side by side with creation in their own language.
In this study, we present some of the key aspects of translation and we focus on the
analysis of translation from and to Asturian. Some of the issues we analyse refer to
what it means to translate and, in this sense, we observe that the approach we take
could be strictly linguistic or a more cultural and holistic approach. We are also
interested in analysing the query «why and for whom is Asturian translated?», since
this question will allow us to understand the translation situation between mother
tongues that occurs between Spanish and Asturian, with everything that it implies.
The question «why do we translate?» allows us to perform a diagnosis of the purpose
of translating from and to Asturian. Reflecting on who translates helps us to
emphasize the importance of the skills that the Asturian translators must have. The
analysis on how to translate gives us a glimpse to some aspects about translation
methodology in relation to Asturian language. Finally the matter of what is translated
offers an overview of the translation from and to Asturian from the 1980’s to now.
The analysis of all existing translations from Asturian to other languages (mainly
Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, French, Italian, English, German and
Portuguese) and vice versa, allows us to observe the evolution in regard to the
number of authors, translators, publishers and subjects. Some of the conclusions
include the importance of patronage in translation in Asturias; the task of Asturian
publishing houses; the presence of children’s and young-adult’s literature as one of
the paths to consolidating the language, together with the translation of universal
literature classics. Finally, all of this allows us to define the role of translation in
this context
Cervantisme català i traducció: anà lisi d'adaptacions infantils i juvenils
This article gives a detailed account of the role linguistic variation plays in screen translation. Often linguistic variety is only defined in terms of user and use. However, in screen translation, the importance of extralinguistic elements has to be stressed as they pose an extra challenge when looking for a balance in equivalence between the OT and the TT. Latest studies in this field also add clients and users as new variables when defining translation strategies. In screen translation, the translator must be aware of linguistic variety, intercultural cclues and the priorities of the situation. These elements tend to lose force in the TT due to the restriction of synchronising text and images
The progress that has been made in the field of pedagogy, especially over the last 30 years, has brought about a profound change in the conception of the teaching/learning process. The constructivist approach has been largely responsible for the development of the communicative and task-based approaches that currently predominate in the teaching of languages, as well as in the teaching of translation. Both the adoption of the principles set out in the Bologna Declaration by the Spanish university system and the European Harmonisation projects that are being carried out at the Universitat Jaume I (which this work is part of) make it quite obvious that this change is essential to be able to integrate, activate and enhance the student's role in the teaching/learning relation. Within the context of the Degree in Translation and Interpreting this turns out to be relatively easy and extremely fruitful in practical subjects, but becomes far more difficult in more theoretical subjects. In this latter case, the master class is the most commonly used educational resource and there are often over a hundred students in the lecture room. An example of such a situation is the subject «Translation theory and methodology», which students study in the first year of their degree course. In this article we will outline some of the changes in methodology that have been introduced in this subject in recent years. We will set out from the concepts of vertically integrated teaching and translation competence and then go on to focus on the design of objectives, learning outcomes and educational resources
Les drogodependències, una visió actualitzada
Public opinion is not worried about drug dependence and other addictive disorders anymore. The changes in consumption patterns and the lack of visible situations related to drugs consumption have removed this problem from the top of the media’s agenda; however, we are able to establish that this is not a settled problem from the past, but quite the opposite. Despite all the prevention campaigns launched so far, the drugs consumption phenomenon prevails as well as the increase of the number of admissions in detoxification clinics for drug addicts.
Therefore, it would be necessary to make a review of the history of drug dependence in order to find the key of the causes thereof nowadays, putting special emphasis on adolescence
Análisis de percepciones en función de la técnica de presentación de producto. Comparativa entre realidad virtual, aumentada y rotación 360º

Alcoi, 7th – 10th July 2020Online shopping has caused a radical change in individual-product interaction. In this
new context, it is key to optimize product display to ensure that the information offered
can be perceived correctly by the consumer, and generate the confidence needed for
the purchase decision. The development of new techniques has made it possible to
evolve product presentation. In addition to the traditional static 2D images, it is common
to find displays where the product can rotate 360º to consumer request, and even that
use augmented reality (a virtual image of the product located in a real environment), or
virtual reality (a completely virtual presentation of product and environment) techniques.
This communication analyses the influence of the display technique on the perceptions
generated. A sideboard was shown to 43 participants, using four different techniques:
2D rendering, virtual reality, augmented reality and 360º rotation. Results show different
perceptions for individuals up to 25 years old and older ones. The first group prefer the
new display techniques. The results obtained provide guidelines to optimize product
presentation in web site contexts.
