Globalizacja i ruchy myślenia alternatywnego – o potrzebie zorientowania społeczeństwa na odpowiedzialne współuczestnictwa i współdziałania
Contemporary world has become a global ecumene. The theory of globalization as approached by R. Robertson invokes the world conceptualization which assumes reducing the tension between the dichotomous tendencies. Unification and diversification are complementary processes, they are mutually influential and essential for the contemporary stage of development of the global society. The paradigm of globalization on the social and cultural plane is revealed in the binary scheme of extremes, such as: decontextualization and recontextualization, decomposition and recomposition, deteritorialization and re-teritorialization, transculturation and internalization. The contemporary anti-globalist movement is a reflection of ideological opposition. The criticism of globalization remains in close connection to an increasingly lively discussion regarding alternatives to globalization. Specificity of the quality of global cultural ecumene reveals the need to shape and improve the orientation towards responsible participation and cooperation in the changing and co-dependent global society

Multicontextual social changes imply definitely new ways of interpretation and determine reflections about the condition of contemporary humans, including the human being as “a manager” of his own career. A society has become an area where individuals can show their initiative. A contemporary study of careers demands the inclusion of multicontextual changes in the job world. These changes face employees with new requirements. The most important ones are the increase of the role attached to a career and the ability to plan, manage and monitor one’s own career in a lifelong perspective. Considerations about a career cannot leave out the issue of the subjective sense that an individual finds in one’s own career in the context of possibilities that a man can have a satisfactory career. The world of careers is a world of numerous micro-changes. Contemporary discourse on the quality of a globalising world of multiple opportunities, the factors determining shifts in the social configuration and the condition of the human being seeking their place in a reality in constant changeis one of the most important orientations. The contemporary social configuration opens up a wide range ofpossibilities for individuals to construct their own biographies. Contemporary studies on the quality of the globalizing society necessitate considering the need to shape society based on knowledge and reflection on that knowledge,while also guarding the values upon which this knowledge depends. The immanent characteristic of the renewal of knowledge capital means continuous development. The tradition positioning the study of careers in the structural-functional orientation sees the career as an external system, an objective phenomenon. In this cognitive perspective, a career means a sequence of professional roles fulfilled by the subject, which could mean promotion, stability or degradation. If we adopt an objective criterion to distinguish careers, it would be the positions (professional position or position within the profession) occupied in formal structures. In this sense, a career is not the attribute of an individual, but is the property of the professional role.4121352Studia Edukacyjn
Prodevelopmental Orientation as a Determinant of an Active Cooperation of a Subject for the Benefit of Constructing One’s Own Career
The orientation of a contemporary society towards a global career creates the need of rebuilding the frames of human activity and innovation. The most important is active participation and cooperation in a reality undergoing a permanent change. Conceptualization of quality new apprehension of career issues as an individual’s possession indicates a many-sided character of a contemporary discourse, which combines implications of an interdisciplinary dialogue and creates the need to review theoretical reflection about the way of understanding career and conditions, as well as indicators of its formation and construction. The „prodevelopmental orientation” is a remedy for a contemporary human being to be oneself again in this situation in the world of careers. In this attitude towards the definition of „a career”, one underlines importance of constructing (not choosing) a career for designing a quality of life
The Circulation Department – Yesterday and Today

Łódź przed dwoma wiekami powstawała z tradycji niejednorodnych, i podobnie powstawał – jako mozaika różnych treści intelektualnych – Uniwersytet Łódzki.The article presents a short history of the collections’ circulation in The Main Reading Room, in The Lending Department, and in The Inter Library Lending Department.
It also shows the reorganization of The Circulation Department after the changes introduced in the new building (2006). The modern interiors, a lot of space and fully-automated lending with the internal system of books transport named TELELIFT have a significant influence on all tasks in this Department

This creative non-fiction project explores belonging as a concept that binds two narrators, a mother and daughter--both on journeys, both torn--though what each wants to belong to becomes part of their individual exploration. The daughter's narrative hungers for her mother's sense of home, and in the process, her own. The mother's narrative actualizes rupture. The mother, not only speaks of the past, but embodies history. She is Poland. The immigrant lives in two worlds. The first is imbued in the materiality of the everyday, a locality more than a "home." The second is in the imagination and the dense layers of dreams, the place where the "home" resides. To emphasize the in-between, the book vacillates between these two voices, which impress and bleed into one another to destabilize the concept of personal narratives and bring attention to the gossamer space in identity formation, language learning and historical constructs
Effects of Low Concentration of Selected Analgesics and Successive Bioaugmentation of the Activated Sludge on Its Activity and Metabolic Diversity
In this study, we evaluated the impact of the successive bioaugmentation of the activated
sludge (AS) with the defined bacterial consortium on the activity and functional capacity of the
AS microorganisms. In parallel, the removal of low concentrations of the selected non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac) and analgesic paracetamol was studied.
We found that the addition of the bacterial consortium consisting of three pharmaceuticals-degrading
strains Bacillus thuringiensis B1 (2015b), Stenotrophomonas maltophilia KB2, and Pseudomonas moorei
KB4 into the AS did not cause any significant changes in the biomass abundance and metabolic
activity of the AS microorganisms. Although, the successive bioaugmentation of the AS caused a
slight increase in the metabolic diversity, the intensity of carbohydrates usage, and metabolic richness.
Microorganisms in the bioaugmented and non-bioaugmented AS were able to degrade the mixture of
the analyzed drugs with similar e ciency, however, diclofenac was removed more e ectively in the
bioaugmented AS. Several metabolites were identified and e ciently utilized, with the exception of
4-OH diclofenac. Two new diclofenac-degrading strains assigned as Serratia proteamaculans AS4 and
Rahnella bruchi AS7 were isolated from the diclofenac-treated AS
