Dynamics of Management Activities in Successful Implementation and Operations of Information Systems
With the widely used of Information Technology in the operations of business organizations in Ghana, transformation of service provision is guaranteed and customers and other stakeholders are benefiting in many ways indication the success of the use of information systems. The research is aimed at establishing relationship between the roles played by managers and the success of information systems. Survey method was employed in the study with the selection of two hundred (200) participants including employees and managers of five banks and three insurance companies in Ghana. Questionnaires were administered to the employees and interview conducted for the managers. The data collected and anylised showed that the roles of managers are very paramount to successful implementation and usage of information systems. It is noted that definition of information system goals is the main indicator of information systems success, followed by IT knowledge of managers, and supportiveness from both managers and employees in that order. It is therefore dawn on managers to have little knowledge in IT so that they can support the design and implementation of IT projects in their organizations.
industri besar maupun pelanggan tegangan rendah maka kestablian
========== At this time the demand for electricity is needed for a large
industrial customers as well as the low voltage electrical stable very
much in order to maintain the injured party. At feeders Margorejo
many large customers that must be maintained stability. Often when
there is interference in the feeder or routine maintenance, there will
be an extended outage and the backup of the old feeder about 30
minutes due to load maneuvers can be done by manually have to look
at the load on each PMT for each section in order to determine
whether it is able to be moved to section other feeders or not and it
takes a long time about 30 minutes.
Therefore, it takes a tool to monitor the phase current and
voltage on each section of each PMT in Medium Voltage Network
Margorejo especially at feeders in order to make it easier to
maneuver the load used during routine maintenance or interruption.
The current and voltage detected by Flow Sensors and Voltage
Sensors are then processed by a microcontroller to ensure the
outcome of current and voltage that occurs at every phase section.
Data transmission is done by the microcontroller to the server in real
time with Wifi media in order to facilitate the monitoring of data flow
and voltage of each section everyday even when going to maneuver
the load in the event of disruption or maintenance on any section of
PMT.
The results of this thesis can monitor the current and voltage on
each section Load Break Switch in real time with communication
using wifi with a distance of 100 meters without a hitch and 60 meters
with a hitch such as a wall
Food Security and University Agricultural Students Involvement in Food Production after Graduation
Food security and its relationship to sustainable agricultural and rural development have increasingly become matters of concern for developing countries and for the international community. While there are many complex factors that influence sustainable development and food security, it is clear that education in agriculture plays an important role. Hence, this study examined the factors that determine the involvement of final year agriculture students in agricultural production after graduation. Two hundred respondents were randomly selected and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square test. The results revealed that 21.6% of the respondents had good knowledge about food security, 54.6% had average knowledge, 13.4% had doubtful knowledge about food security and 10.3% had poor knowledge about food security. 50.1% believed that Nigeria is not food secure. 68.04% of the respondents plan to be gainfully self-employed in agriculture after graduation. This finding has implication for reducing high rate of unemployment and continual rise in food insecurity. Therefore, it is recommended to agricultural development planners to provide start off funds, input subsidies and land for the fresh graduates to start their farm. It was also revealed that capital, interest, knowledge, Government policy on import and academic pursuit were the major factors that altered the involvement of potential agricultural graduates in agricultural production. Keywords: Agriculture, Food Security, Production, Student, Universit
VENICE OF LAGOS - Reviving the fishing culture in Makoko through Aquaponics
Lagos, Nigeria is a rapidly growing mega-city that faces issues such as overpopulation, pollution, waste management, sanitation, poverty among a host of others. The coastal nature of Lagos causes the city to experience annual flooding with rising sea levels, cities need to start thinking of ways to adapt to such changes.
Makoko is a small fishing community in Lagos located on the Lagos lagoon, best known for its homes on wooden stilts. It is also one of the biggest and most prominent slum communities in Lagos which also boasts of a vibrant fishing and lumber industries. The fishing and lumber markets within this community are its major economic drivers, these markets attract costumers from all around Lagos and this ensures the survival of most of the inhabitants. It is also the major reason for the growth and sustenance of the community. This illegal settlement is also located on one of the most desired waterfronts and have been constantly met with threats of eviction by the government.
This Thesis explores the local economic drivers and local constructing techniques in play with Makoko, with an emphasis on tapping into the local fish and Timber industry for sustainable solution to some of the major problems within the community; Fishing practices, food security, Flooding and Accessible Water. It looks to study these problems to use them as guides in proposing a low-cost, easy to build architectural solution centered on community participation and local building techniques.
This project will study the local economic drivers within Makoko, as well as its construction industry and building techniques in order to propose a general upgradation strategy. This would be centered on the use of Aquaponics and the key technology to improve fish practices as well as help with food security and as a result improve the living standards and live quality. These interventions also help in preserving the knowledge of indigenous fishing and construction techniques

PREVALENCE OF PLANT-PARASITIC NEMATODES IN RICE FIELDS IN GHANA
Rice ( Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most cultivated crops worldwide
whose production in sub-Saharan Africa is extensively affected by root
nematodes. The objective of this study was to identify and establish
the distribution of plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs), in rice growing
fields within different regions of Ghana. Soil and root samples were
taken from rice fields, namely fourteen from Volta Region, eleven from
the Soil and Irrigation Research Centre (SIREC), Kpong (Eastern
Region); and five from Dawhenya (Greater Accra Region). The soil
samples were taken from 0-30 cm depths, together with root samples. A
total of twenty-four nematode genera were identified in soil and root
samples from the three regions. These included: Aphelenchus spp.,
Belonolaimus spp., Ditylenchus spp., Dolichodorus spp.,
Helicotylenchus spp., Hemicriconemoides spp. Hemicycliophora spp.
Heterodera spp., Hirschmaniella spp., Hoplolaimus spp.,
Longidorus spp., Meloidogyne spp., Paralongidorous spp.,
Paratylenchus spp., Pratylenchus spp., Radopholus spp.,
Rhabditida spp., Rotylenchulus spp., Scutellonema spp., Trichodorus
spp., Tylenchornchus spp., Tylenchulus spp., Tylenchus spp. and
Xiphinema spp. In the Volta Region, Tylenchus spp. was the most
abundant (29.01%) in the soil; while Meloidogyne spp. was most the
abundant (36.86%) in the roots. In Dawhenya regions, Meloidogyne spp.
was the most abundant (26.96%) in the soil; while Tylenchus spp. was
the most abundant (25.94%) in the roots. In the Eastern Region,
Meloidogyne spp. was the most abundant (41.7%) in the soil; while
Pratylenchus spp. was the most abundant (36.1%) in the roots. These
