    The utilization of local wisdom in presentation of physics material of high school grade XI  by physics education students is still not optimal. This indicates that the students who careless by sense of environmental. Physics learning resources in daily activities such as local wisdom needed to provide. The purpose of this study is to explore the application of physics concepts to local wisdom of West Sumatra culture as an effort to improve the character of environmental care. The type of research is qualitative research with survey method. Data collected by questionnaires, interviews, document analysis, field notes and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Analyzed techniques of data which be used qualitative data techniques with steps are data reduction, presentation, conclusion and verification as data analyzed techniques. Result of the research is physics concepts of Rumah Gadang. First, although the Rumah Gadang roof was made of palm fiber but it still survive from leakage problems and wind exposure. The functions of the roofing of the Rumah Gadang are: (1) to increase the speed of the rain falling into the roof, (2) minimize the momentum on the roof, (3) projecting the force of the wind in all directions so that the wind is not trapped on the roof of the Rumah Gadang, 4) made of adhesive between kitchen ash with a good palm fiber (deep layer of palm fiber ), and 5) water deposition on the bad side of palm fiber (outer layer of palm fiber) so that it will be rise to back the surface of the roof through the capillarity mechanism. Second, the wall with a hollow layer can reduce the heat from outside the walls during the day so the air in the room is not as hot as the outside and the heat that has flowing in the room will be trapped by the wall so that air is not too cold at the night. Third, old pole serves as a reference to determine the equalibrium of Rumah Gadang and the poles are made with a slope which opposite direction on two sides (left and right house). This can be create a stable of equalibrium Rumah Gadang. Fourth, a stone of fondation that has a diameter greater than the diameter of the milestone can serve to minimize the fictive forces generated by the soil due to the occurrence of the earthquake. Fifth, the staircase made with a certain slope provides a distinct mechanical advantage for the visitor where the where the produced work made becomes as easier. The conclusions of this research indicates this study provide one of the efforts to improve the character of environmental care in physics learning

    This research is important as a solution to the problems faced by most students in the Physics Education Statistics course. The problem in this study is that students have not been able to solve the statistical problems correctly, becausetheir ability in solving the statistical problems given by lecturers in the class is low. This is also caused by abstract and difficult material to understand by students. In addition, the source books used in lectures are only in the form of a reference books and have not been oriented to problem-solving steps related to daily life such as educational issues. This study aims to analyze the needs in developing teaching materials of Physics Education Statistics with Problem Solving model. This research is an early stage of research and development using ADDIE model in the form of analysis phase. Data collected by using questionnaire given to physics education students listed on semester July-December 2017. Data analysis technique used in the form of descriptive statistical analysis. The results show several things; 1) The teaching materials used by the lecturers in the course have not been entirely appealing for the students to be reviewed independently, 2) the task that has been given by the lecturer are able to motivate the students to solve it, 3) lecturers have provided guidance to students in solving problems, but not yet using varied method, 4) the material presented in the lecture has not been fully understood by the students, as some of the material is still abstract, 5) Only a small percentage of students can answer statistical problems quickly and correctly, 6) Students have enough basic math skills, but only some students can use the statistical formula correctly, and 7) Students who are able to correctly depict distribution and graphic curves are sufficient. The conclusion of this study is the need of development of teaching materials Statistics of Physics Education using problem solving model

     The 21st century demands quality human resources and they have good performance. The goal of the 21st century is to produce people who have the ability to think critically, have strong character, and use information and communication technology. This ability can be developed in the integrated science learning process. However, the implementation of integrated science learning in schools and the integration of learning materials in integrated science books were still low. The solution to the problem was to use integrated science learning material of the excretory and respiratory system with a CTL strategy known as relating, experiencing, applying, cooperating, transferring or REACT. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of using science learning material on the theme of the integrated excretory and respiratory system with REACT strategy to develop the academic performance of grade VIII students. The design of this research was a non-equivalent control group design with only posttest. The subject in this research was grade VIII students of SMPN 8 Padang. The instrument for collecting data consists of three parts, namely a multiple-choice written test to measure knowledge, an observation sheet to measure attitudes, and a performance assessment sheet to measure discovery skills.Research data for aspects of knowledge, attitudes, and discovery skills have a normal distribution and homogeneous variance. For this reason, a two-mean comparison test for two independent sample groups was used to determine differences in academic performance for these three aspects.The important result of this research is that the use of integrated science learning material with REACT strategy of the excretory and respiratory system theme has a significant effect on the academic performance of students in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and discovery skill

    Mentoring Activities of Applied Science to Improve the Competence of Natural Science Teachers in Prakarya Learning in Sijunjung RegencyAbstract. Junior high school natural science teachers in Sijunjung Regency are still not optimal in teaching of prakarya. This is due to the lack of application of natural science in prakarya learning. Prakarya subjects have four material aspects, namely: crafts, engineering, cultivation, and processing. The material aspect of crafts is more dominantly taught by science teachers in prakarya subjects even though this material aspect is more appropriate to be taught by arts / culture teachers. In addition, there are still very few natural science teachers who are able to compile prakarya student worksheets. The Community Partnership Program in the form of mentoring activities of applied natural science is very much needed by natural science teachers in learning prakarya. This activity aims to motivate and help natural science teachers to continue to improve their competencies, especially professional and pedagogical competencies. Community service activities in the form of mentoring activities use a method that consists of several stages. The initial stage is the orientation and discussion phase. The second stage is the preparation phase of the activity. The third stage is the mentoring stage 1 (in) with use the explanation, demonstration, and practice methods on mentoring activity. Data collection techniques with pre-test and post-test methods and analyzed using normalized gain. This activity has been carried out for 5 months from March to July 2019 at SMP Negeri 11 Sijunjung, Kamang Baru District, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra Province. The results of the activities showed that increasing the pedagogical competence of the Sijunjung district's natural science teachers in the prakarya learning was satisfactory. Meanwhile, increasing professional competence is quite satisfying. So, overall the improvement in the competence of Sijunjung district's natural science teachers in prakarya learning has been satisfactory.Keywords: Community service, applied natural science, prakarya, professional, pedagogicalAbstrak. Guru-guru IPA SMP di Kabupaten Sijunjung masih belum optimal dalam mengajarkan prakarya. Hal ini disebabkan karena masih kurangnya penerapan IPA dalam pembelajaran prakarya. Mata pelajaran prakarya memiliki empat aspek materi yaitu: kerajinan, rekayasa, budidaya, dan pengolahan. Aspek materi kerajinan lebih dominan diajarkan oleh guru IPA dalam mata pelajaran prakarya padahal aspek materi ini lebih tepat diajarkan oleh  guru seni budaya/keterampilan. Selain itu, masih sedikitnya guru IPA yang mampu menyusun bahan ajar prakarya. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat dalam bentuk pendampingan implementasi sains terapan sangat diperlukan guru IPA dalam pembelajaran prakarya. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memotivasi dan membantu guru-guru IPA untuk terus meningkatkan kompetensinya terutama kompetensi professional dan pedagogik. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dalam bentuk kegiatan pendampingan ini menggunakan metode yang terdiri dari beberapa tahapan. Tahap awal yang dilaksanakan adalah tahap orientasi dan diskusi. Tahap kedua berupa tahap persiapan kegiatan. Tahap ketiga adalah tahap pendampingan 1 (in) dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, demonstrasi, dan praktik pada kegiatan pendampingan. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan metode pre-test dan post-test dan dianalisis menggunakan gain ternormalisasi. Kegiatan ini telah dilaksanakan selama 5 bulan dari bulan Maret sampai dengan Juli 2019 di SMP Negeri 11 Sijunjung Kecamatan Kamang Baru, Kabupaten Sijunjung Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru-guru IPA kabupaten Sijunjung dalam pembelajaran prakarya sudah memuaskan. Sedangkan, peningkatan kompetensi profesionalnya cukup memuaskan. Jadi, secara keseluruhan peningkatan kompetensi guru-guru IPA kabupaten Sijunjung dalam pembelajaran prakarya sudah memuaskan.Kata Kunci: Pengabdian, sains terapan, prakarya, profesional, pedagogi

    Kepraktisan Bahan Ajar Statistika Pendidikan Fisika Bermuatan Model Cooperative Problem Solving

    The statistics of physics education are compulsory course with a lot of material descriptions so the lectures must be assisted by the use of teaching materials. The lectures of statistics of  physics education  that took place in the July-December 2017 semester illustrates that: 1) teaching materials are less attractive to students, 2) the assignments given are quite clear and sufficient in accordance with the level of thinking of students, 3) materials delivered by the lecturer is in accordance with the targets in the syllabus with some material is still abstract, 4) the lecture have been pursued in accordance with the syllabus but the methods used have not varied and 5) students learn material of statistic of physics education only from the lecturer explanation so that only a few students can answer statistical problems quickly and correctly. This indicates that it is need provided teaching materials with a cooperative problem solving model. The author has tried to design teaching materials of statistic of physics education  with cooperative problem solving models with very valid criteria according to the assessment of six experts with educational qualifications of statistics and physics education. However, this teaching material has not been tested at normal conditions in the lectures so that the level of practicality has not been revealed. The aim of this study was to determine the practicality level of educational statistical teaching materials containing cooperative problem solving models according to users, namely lecturers and students who listed in the course. Type of research is research and devel-opment with the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model stands for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluation. This research is part of the Implementation stage where development products are implemented in real terms so that the level of practicality can be measured with indicators of ease of use, attractiveness and efficiency. Data collection used student response questionnaires and lecturer response questionnaires with a Likert scale. Data analysis used descriptive statistic analysis techniques. The results showed that teaching materials of physics education statistics  had very practical criteria (lecturers opinion) and practical (students opinion). The conclusion of this study is the  teaching materials of statistic of physics education  with cooperative problem solving model  has been practically used in lecture

    Optimizing the Use of Physics KITs that are integrated with the Scientific Context and Its Impact for Physics Teachers

    The background of this research is the lack of competence of physics teachers in using physics KIT. This research was conducted with the hope that there will be an increase in the competence of senior high school physics teachers in West Pasaman in using the physics KIT. This research was conducted with a quasi-experimental design and one group pretest-posttest. This study has a population of all physics teachers who join physics teachers group in West Pasaman Regency. The sample was taken by using simple random sampling technique, selecting 22 teachers as representatives of the physics teachers group in West Pasaman Regency. The results showed an increase in teachers' competence in using the physics KIT after mentoring the use of the physics KIT. The increase in teacher competence can be described through the value of again, the N-gain value obtained is 0.33 (moderate). This means that the teacher's competence in using the physics KIT can increase after mentoring the use of the physics KIT

    The Needs Analysis for an Educational Physics Game with Scientific Literacy and Ethnoscientific Content

    The advancement of science and technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 encourages government regulations in changing all life governance, including education. The independent curriculum is used as a solution to answer the demands of the world of education and to be able to create active and creative learning. In learning Physics in schools, its application is rarely exemplified in everyday life.  Physics learning is only taught theoretically and has minimal explanation related to the implementation of Physics, so learning becomes less meaningful. Cultural or ethnoscientific approaches are important in implementing learning so that community culture is not lost. It can help improve students' scientific literacy and make science learning more meaningful for students. One of the technology-based learning media that can be developed is Physics educational games. This study aims to analyze the development needs of Physics educational games containing scientific literacy and ethnoscience. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. This research data instrument uses observation sheets and questionnaires. Data collection techniques are carried out through methods: (1) observation and (2) questionnaires. The research technique used is the quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The study subjects were 42 grade X students of SMAN 1 Padang. The students are represented by three classes X at SMAN 1 Padang, grouped into high, medium and low-level classes. The results showed that using learning media increased student participation in learning and made it easier for students to understand the material. Linking Physics learning with the local culture can make Physics learning more meaningful and increase students' scientific literacy. These results illustrate the need to develop physics educational games based on scientific literacy and ethnoscience

    ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN TERHADAP MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS ICT (INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY)

    ABSTRAKTujuan studi ini adalah mengetahui kebutuhan terhadap media pembelajaran berbasis ICT. Analisis kebutuhan dilaksanakan karena rendahnya minat belajar siswa terhadap pembelajaran fisika dan rendahnya prestasi belajar siswa dalam pelajaran fisika.  Studi dilakukan di SMA Negeri 6 Padang kelas X MIPA 3. studi ini menggunakan metode studi deskriptif kualitatif. Untuk memperoleh informasi, peneliti menyebarkan angket atau kuisoner secara langsung. Hasil studi ini menyatakan bahwa kebutuhan akan media pembelajaran berbasis ICT sangat diperlukan oleh siswa dengan persentase rata – rata 85,1% namun  sarana dan prasarana seperti akses internet terbatas menjadi hambatannya . Maka dari itu dibutuhkan media pembelajaran berbasis ICT yang bisa dipergunakan tanpa akses internet dan bisa disemua device smartphone  siswa dan guru. Media pembelajaran berbasis ICT tersebut bisa seperti bahan ajar elektronik, virtual laboratory atau game pembelajaran yang diharapkan mampu meningkatkan semangat belajar dan prestasi siswa. Kata kunci: analisis kebutuhan; media pembelajaran; ICT ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to determine the need for ICT-based learning media. A needs analysis was carried out because of the low interest of students in learning physics and low student achievement in physics subjects. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 6 Padang class X MIPA 3. This study used a qualitative descriptive study method. To obtain information, researchers distribute questionnaires or questionnaires directly. The results of this study state that the need for ICT-based learning media is needed by students with an average percentage of 85.1%, but facilities and infrastructure such as limited internet access are the obstacle. Therefore, ICT-based learning media is needed which can be used without internet access and can be used on all student and teacher smartphone devices. ICT-based learning media can be electronic teaching materials, virtual laboratories, or learning games which are expected to increase student enthusiasm for learning and achievement. Keywords: need analysist; learning media; IC

    The Practicality of Applying Physics Learning Games with Scientific Literacy

    Physics is part of the natural sciences which plays an essential role in life. Learning physics must be distinct from various learning environments to achieve the stated learning objectives. One of the things that play an essential role, in this case, is the learning media. One of the learning media that can be used is a game. Experts have validated this physics learning game with scientific literacy, but it has yet to be tested for practicality. This study aimed to determine the practicality of implementing physics learning games with scientific literacy for Padang City High School students. This type of research is descriptive, with a sample of students and teachers in six high schools in Padang City, which have been grouped into three levels high, medium, and low. The research instrument used a practical questionnaire with four answer choices. The data analysis used in this research is a descriptive analysis technique. The results showed that the convenience aspect obtained a practicality percentage of 76.76% according to students and 90.63% according to the teacher, the attractiveness aspect obtained a percentage of 79.10% according to students and 86.25% according to teachers, and the last aspect of efficiency obtained a percentage of 79. 43% according to students and 92.50% according to teachers. Overall, according to the students, this game is practical to use, with a percentage of 78.43%. According to the teacher, the game has a percentage of 90.63%, with a very practical category

    Peningkatan Perilaku Berkarakter Dan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Kelas IX Mtsn Model Padang Pada Mata Pelajaran Ipa-fisika Menggunakan Model Problem Based Instruction

    Problems are often encountered in learning science Physics in class IX of MTsN Model Padang is the process of learning science Physics is less meaningful because the matter is less related to problems in daily life. This indicates that the behavior of character and critical thinking skills students in grade IX is still low. In addition, variations in the model / learning methods are applied to teachers in the classroom learning process is still lacked. The purpose of this study is to improve character\u27s behavior and critical thinking skills of students in grade IX MTsN Model Padang on Physics science use Problem Based Instruction model. This type of study is classroom action research. The research was carried out in class IX. 9 MTsN Model Padang in two cycles that began in November 2011 to December 2011. Data obtained through the research instrument, namely: the behavior observation sheet character, character\u27s behavior is limited questionnaire given to students each end of the cycle, and critical thinking skills test is conducted every meeting and analyzed by percentage analyze techniques (%). The study found there was an increase of 15.39% characterized the behavior of the criteria began to develop into 45.61% of students are on begins to develop criteria (MB), and 21.84% on the custom criteria (MK). Analysis of the character\u27s behavior questionnaire also showed that an increase of 38.71% criteria began to grow (MB) and 1.79% in the custom criteria (MK) to 59.15% in the criteria began to grow (MB) and 7.84% the criteria into the habit (MK). The analysis of critical thinking skills showed that there was an increase from 54.62 to 11.37 percentage completeness with a percentage of 75.14% to 63.91% completeness. Based on the research results can be concluded that the application of the model problem based instruction can improve students\u27 behavior that characterized the impact on critical thinking skills
