    Get PDF
This study implemented Theory of Planned Behaviour in examining environmental knowledge sharing behaviour among the undergraduate Accounting students from Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia (TISSA-UUM). The aim of this study is to examine if the attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control and environmental knowledge will have impact on the intention and behaviour towards environmental knowledge sharing and whether the intention mediates the influence of attitudes, subjective norms, environmental knowledge and perceived behavioural control towards environmental knowledge sharing behaviour. Survey method research has been implemented by distributing 250 questionnaires to the accounting students of TISSA-UUM chosen as the respondents. The data collected was then analysed applying Partial Least Square (PLS) path modelling. The results from the study showed significant relationship between the variables tested which are attitude, subjective norms, possession of environmental knowledge, perceived behavioural control and intention to share environmental knowledge with their influence towards environmental knowledge sharing behaviour. The results indicated that all hypotheses constructed are supported. This study contributes to the knowledge sharing behaviour literature in terms of environmental knowledge sharing behaviour in the academics context especially from students‘ perspective

Monitoring on geotechnical structure such as retaining wall, beams and dams is an essential task to retain its serviceability. One of the necessary component to be monitored is the presence of crack. In this paper, the potential of infrared thermography (IRT) as an operational tool for detecting cracks was tested and demonstrated on retaining wall. Two main work phase is employed in this study. First phase is focused on fieldwork which involve capturing the image by using infrared thermal (IRT) camera and digital single lens camera (DSLR). Second phase is focused on image processing technique by using a MATLAB numerical software. Targeted crack sample from the retaining wall have been scratched to observe the deformation of the crack before and after scratching. Analysis of the infrared thermal (IRT) image show that crack stand as cold area (low temperature) with respect to surrounding area. Disturbance of the heat flow allow the thermal camera to detect the presence of crack on retaining wall. Processing of the image extracted allows geometric characterization and direction of propagation of the crack through the wall to be determine. Within limited testing, detection and analysis of cracks is better with the proposed method because it is economical, can reduce time and involve no contacts. This paper presents a preliminary study for further inspection development on retaining wall

Workforce is a heavyweight component of any organization and therefore employees are always considered as the greatest asset of an organization. Without employees, organizations will not be able to produce business results, achieve organization goals, or meet its financial objectives. However, nowadays most of the organizations are facing the employee turnover problem and failure to retain their workforce. Besides that, there have been frequent complaints from employees of Puspakom Sdn. Bhd that they are dissatisfied with their job and management team which is lead to the turnover intention. In this research study, the influence factors that lead to the employees’ turnover intention at workplace are personal factors, pull factors and push factors. Moreover, data is collected by distributing questionnaire to 123 respondents from the organization by using probability sampling which is simple random sampling. Nevertheless, majority of the respondent age are between 26-30 years old with mostly in executive level of position The results indicate that all factors (personal, pull and organizational commitment) have contributed in the employee’s turnover intentions. However, organizational commitment has negative relationship with employees’ turnover intentions. This research study also said to be beneficial to the organization in order to understand their employees’ voice. It will help organization to retain their human resources and managing the human capital because employees are the main factors of the successfulness in any organization. Recommendations for future research are also been discussed

Neobalanocarpus heimii (Cengal) is from the family Dipterocarpaceae. It is a long-lasting wood that is also one of the most robust timbers in the world. This species is native to Peninsular Malaysia and southern Thailand. In this study, the Cengal heartwood was studied concerning the amount of water extractive content with antifungal properties from the Neobalanocarpus heimii. The dilution method was used to test the antifungal properties. Wood meals samples were subjected to the sequential extractive beginning with hexane followed by dichloromethane, methanol and water. The extracts were collected and underwent evaporation by using rotary evaporator to obtain pure crude extract. The antifungal activities were determined using agar dilution method. Two selected fungi Trametes versicolor (T. versicolor) and Coniophora puteana (C. puteana) were used. The antifungal index (%) which compares the diameter of the growth zone for the experimental plate and control plate was calculated. The total percentage of yield from Neobalanocarpus heimii was 0.28%. The highest antifungal index obtained for Trametes versicolor (T. versicolor) was 81.22%, while C. puteana was 43.24%. The crude extracts from Neobalanocarpus heimii were effective in inhibiting the growth of Trametes versicolor and Coniophora puteana.

Service quality as an antecedent in enhancing customers’ behavioural intentions: a case study of Malaysian army medical centers

    Get PDF
Behavioural intention is a customer preference to use services provided by service providers and this preference manifests itself in the form of the customer’s readiness to recommend, intention to repurchase, and deliver positive words of mouth regarding the services provided. This has a lot to do with the ability of providers to effectively offer services which are not only tangible but also reliable, responsive, reassuring, and empathic. Extant studies in this field reveal that the ability of service providers to appropriately deliver these qualities in performing daily job may have a significant impact on customers’ behavioural intentions. Even though this relationship has been studied widely the role of service quality as an important antecedent has been relatively ignored in current organizational quality research literature. In this light, this study was undertaken to measure the relationship between service quality and behavioural intention. Primary data were gathered from 128 customers and eleven administrative staff and doctors of the military hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia. The outcome of a SmartPLS path model analysis confirmed that the ability of organizations to properly implement quality in medical services would enhance the intention of customers to continuously use the services

TRAINING MANAGEMENT AS AN ANTECEDENT OF TRAINING TRANSFER

Present literature related to human resource development highlights that training management is a strategic human resource management policy. This issue has been viewed as a remarkable phenomenon in dynamic organizations. Recent studies mostly published in the 21st century  proved that the ability of management to plan and implement training programs may produce a noteworthy effect on work related attitudes, particularly in training transfer. This study incorporates a cross-sectional design as it delivers flexibility to the researchers in incorporating the training management literature, a self-administered questionnaires and semi-structured interview to gather data from participants at a military medical corps using a purposive sampling method. They are the administrators, medical doctors, nurses and supporting staff who work in different divisions within the organization. The SmartPLS path model analysis was utilized to analyze the validity and reliability of the instrument, and thus testing the research hypotheses. The results of SmartPLS path model analysis revealed that the implementation of communication and assignment in managing training programs had led to higher employees’ motivation to transfer, while  implementation of support in managing training programs had not led to higher employees’ motivation to transfer in the organizational sample. Therefore, this study further suggests that communication and assignment should be considered as a critical success factor for the training management domain, as well as external and internal obstacles should be comprehensively evaluated to maintain and achieve the training goals in an era of knowledge-based organization.  Keywords: Assignment, communication, support, training management, training transfer. Cite as: Ismail, A., Foboy, N. Due to the worldwide demand for music consumption, more songs are translated into several languages. However, it remains a question whether the public i) prefers a loosely translated version, or ii) prefers a word-by-word translated version. Inspired by online data mining in business analytics, this quantitative research studied the public’s sentiments on two translated versions of Disney’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” song on the YouTube platform. Through semantic analysis, the researchers had found that the public prefers loosely, poetically, translated songs whilst preferring the harmony, melody, and musical sense of the songs to be retained.
