Two-Photon Decay Widths of Higgs Particles
Two--photon decays of Higgs bosons are important channels for the search of
these particles in the intermediate mass range at the colliders LHC and
SSC. Dynamical aspects of the Higgs coupling to two photons can also be studied
by means of the fusion of Higgs particles at high--energy
ee linear colliders. Extending earlier analyses which had been
restricted to the Standard Model, we present in this note the QCD radiative
corrections to the decay widths of scalar and pseudoscalar
Higgs particles in multi--doublet extensions of the Higgs sector, as realized

Directed and Elliptic Flow in Pb+Pb collisions at 40 and 158 AGeV
Directed and elliptic flow are reported for charged pions and protons as a
function of transverse momentum, rapidity, and centrality in 40 and 158 AGeV Pb
+ Pb collisions. The standard method of correlating particles with an event
plane is used. The directed flow of protons is small and shows little variation
near to midrapidity, but rises fast towards projectile rapidity in the 40 AGeV
data. For most peripheral collisions the flat region becomes negative resulting
in changing sign three times. Elliptic flow doesn't seem to change very
much from 40 AGeV to 158 AGeV. The difference is smaller than anticipated from
the overall energy dependence from AGS to RHIC.Comment: Presented at 16th International Conference on Ultrarelativistic

Static circularly symmetric perfect fluid solutions with an exterior BTZ metric
In this work we study static perfect fluid stars in 2+1 dimensions with an
exterior BTZ spacetime. We found the general expression for the metric
coefficients as a function of the density and pressure of the fluid. We found
the conditions to have regularity at the origin throughout the analysis of a
set of linearly independent invariants. We also obtain an exact solution of the
Einstein equations, with the corresponding equation of state , which

Darboux transformations for 5-point and 7-point self-adjoint schemes and an integrable discretization of the 2D Schrodinger operator
With this paper we begin an investigation of difference schemes that possess
Darboux transformations and can be regarded as natural discretizations of
elliptic partial differential equations. We construct, in particular, the
Darboux transformations for the general self adjoint schemes with five and
seven neighbouring points. We also introduce a distinguished discretization of
the two-dimensional stationary Schrodinger equation, described by a 5-point
difference scheme involving two potentials, which admits a Darboux

First Direct Measurement of Jets in GeV Heavy Ion Collisions by STAR
We present the first measurement of reconstructed jets in ultra-relativistic
heavy ion collisions. Utilizing the large coverage of the STAR Time Projection
Chamber and Electromagnetic Calorimeter, we apply several modern jet
reconstruction algorithms and background subtraction techniques and explore
their systematic uncertainties in heavy ion events. The differential spectrum
for inclusive jet production in central Au+Au collisions at GeV is presented. In order to assess the jet reconstruction biases, this
spectrum is compared with the jet cross section measured in GeV
p+p collisions scaled by the number of binary N-N collisions to account for

On the study of jamming percolation
We investigate kinetically constrained models of glassy transitions, and
determine which model characteristics are crucial in allowing a rigorous proof
that such models have discontinuous transitions with faster than power law
diverging length and time scales. The models we investigate have constraints
similar to that of the knights model, introduced by Toninelli, Biroli, and
Fisher (TBF), but differing neighbor relations. We find that such knights-like
models, otherwise known as models of jamming percolation, need a ``No Parallel
Crossing'' rule for the TBF proof of a glassy transition to be valid.
Furthermore, most knight-like models fail a ``No Perpendicular Crossing''
requirement, and thus need modification to be made rigorous. We also show how
the ``No Parallel Crossing'' requirement can be used to evaluate the provable
glassiness of other correlated percolation models, by looking at models with
more stable directions than the knights model. Finally, we show that the TBF
proof does not generalize in any straightforward fashion for three-dimensional

Explaining the unobserved: why quantum mechanics is not only about information
A remarkable theorem by Clifton, Bub and Halvorson (2003)(CBH) characterizes
quantum theory in terms of information--theoretic principles. According to Bub
(2004, 2005) the philosophical significance of the theorem is that quantum
theory should be regarded as a ``principle'' theory about (quantum) information
rather than a ``constructive'' theory about the dynamics of quantum systems.
Here we criticize Bub's principle approach arguing that if the mathematical
formalism of quantum mechanics remains intact then there is no escape route
from solving the measurement problem by constructive theories. We further
propose a (Wigner--type) thought experiment that we argue demonstrates that
quantum mechanics on the information--theoretic approach is incomplete.Comment: 34 Page
Slowly synchronizing automata and digraphs
We present several infinite series of synchronizing automata for which the
minimum length of reset words is close to the square of the number of states.

Large N expansion of the 2-matrix model
We present a method, based on loop equations, to compute recursively all the
terms in the large topological expansion of the free energy for the
2-hermitian matrix model. We illustrate the method by computing the first
subleading term, i.e. the free energy of a statistical physics model on a

Magnetic order in the Ising model with parallel dynamics
It is discussed how the equilibrium properties of the Ising model are
described by an Hamiltonian with an antiferromagnetic low temperature behavior
if only an heat bath dynamics, with the characteristics of a Probabilistic
Cellular Automaton, is assumed to determine the temporal evolution of the
