A superformula for neutrinoless double beta decay II: The short range part
A general Lorentz-invariant parameterization for the short-range part of the
0vBB decay rate is derived. Combined with the long range part already published
this general parameterization in terms of effective B-L violating couplings
allows one to extract the 0vBB limits on arbitrary lepton number violating

Light propagation in non-trivial QED vacua
Within the framework of effective action QED, we derive the light cone
condition for homogeneous non-trivial QED vacua in the geometric optics
approximation. Our result generalizes the ``unified formula'' suggested by
Latorre, Pascual and Tarrach and allows for the calculation of velocity shifts
and refractive indices for soft photons travelling through these vacua.
Furthermore, we clarify the connection between the light velocity shift and the
scale anomaly. This study motivates the introduction of a so-called effective
action charge that characterizes the velocity modifying properties of the
vacuum. Several applications are given concerning vacuum modifications caused

THE TIGHT-BINDING APPROACH TO THE DIELECTRIC RESPONSE IN THE MULTIBAND SYSTEMS
Starting from the random phase approximation for the weakly coupled multiband
tightly-bounded electron systems, we calculate the dielectric matrix in terms
of intraband and interband transitions. The advantages of this representation
with respect to the usual plane-wave decomposition are pointed out. The
analysis becomes particularly transparent in the long wavelength limit, after
performing the multipole expansion of bare Coulomb matrix elements. For
illustration, the collective modes and the macroscopic dielectric function for
a general cubic lattice are derived. It is shown that the dielectric
instability in conducting narrow band systems proceeds by a common softening of
one transverse and one longitudinal mode. Furthermore, the self-polarization
corrections which appear in the macroscopic dielectric function for finite band
systems, are identified as a combined effect of intra-atomic exchange
interactions between electrons sitting in different orbitals and a finite

Nuclear like effects in proton-proton collisions at high energy
We show that several effects considered nuclear effects are not nuclear in
the sense that they do not only occur in nucleus-nucleus and hadron-nucleus
collisions but, as well, they are present in hadron-hadron (proton-proton)
collisions. The matter creation mechanism in hh, hA and AA collisions is always
the same. The pT suppression of particles produced in large multiplicity events
compared to low multiplicity events, the elliptic flow and the Cronin effect
are predicted to occur in pp collisions at LHC energies as a consequence of the
obtained high density partonic medium
Systems of Hess-Appel'rot type
We construct higher-dimensional generalizations of the classical
Hess-Appel'rot rigid body system. We give a Lax pair with a spectral parameter
leading to an algebro-geometric integration of this new class of systems, which
is closely related to the integration of the Lagrange bitop performed by us
recently and uses Mumford relation for theta divisors of double unramified
coverings. Based on the basic properties satisfied by such a class of systems
related to bi-Poisson structure, quasi-homogeneity, and conditions on the
Kowalevski exponents, we suggest an axiomatic approach leading to what we call

The flyby anomaly: a multivariate analysis approach
[EN] The flyby anomaly is the unexpected variation of the asymptotic post-encounter velocity of a spacecraft with respect to the pre-encounter velocity as it performs a slingshot manoeuvre. This effect has been detected in, at least, six flybys of the Earth but it has not appeared in other recent flybys. In order to find a pattern in these, apparently contradictory, data several phenomenological formulas have been proposed but all have failed to predict a new result in agreement with the observations. In this paper we use a multivariate dimensional analysis approach to propose a fitting of the data in terms of the local parameters at perigee, as it would occur if this anomaly comes from an unknown fifth force with latitude dependence. Higher spin quaternion waves in the Klein-Gordon theory
Electromagnetic interactions are discussed in the context of the Klein-Gordon
fermion equation. The Mott scattering amplitude is derived in leading order
perturbation theory and the result of the Dirac theory is reproduced except for
an overall factor of sixteen. The discrepancy is not resolved as the study
points into another direction. The vertex structures involved in the scattering
calculations indicate the relevance of a modified Klein-Gordon equation, which
takes into account the number of polarization states of the considered quantum
field. In this equation the d'Alembertian is acting on quaternion-like plane
waves, which can be generalized to representations of arbitrary spin. The
method provides the same relation between mass and spin that has been found
previously by Majorana, Gelfand, and Yaglom in infinite spin theories
Wavelets techniques for pointwise anti-Holderian irregularity
In this paper, we introduce a notion of weak pointwise Holder regularity,
starting from the de nition of the pointwise anti-Holder irregularity. Using
this concept, a weak spectrum of singularities can be de ned as for the usual
pointwise Holder regularity. We build a class of wavelet series satisfying the
multifractal formalism and thus show the optimality of the upper bound. We also
show that the weak spectrum of singularities is disconnected from the casual
one (denoted here strong spectrum of singularities) by exhibiting a
multifractal function made of Davenport series whose weak spectrum di ers from
the strong one
On the SUSY Accompanied Neutrino Exchange Mechanism of Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay
The neutrinoless double beta decay (\znbb) induced by light Majorana
neutrino exchange between decaying nucleons, accompanied by the squark exchange
inside one nucleon, recently discussed by Babu and Mohapatra, is carefully
analyzed both from the particle and nuclear physics sides. New nuclear matrix
elements relevant to this mechanism are calculated. We extend the analysis to
include mixing of light neutrinos with heavy and "sterile" neutrinos. It
introduces another supersymmetric (SUSY) contribution to \znbb. We discuss
constraints on the \rp MSSM parameters imposed by the current experimental

Cosmology, Particle Physics and Superfluid 3He
Many direct parallels connect superfluid 3He with the field theories
describing the physical vacuum, gauge fields and elementary fermions.
Superfluid He exhibits a variety of topological defects which can be
detected with single-defect sensitivity. Modern scenarios of defect-mediated
baryogenesis can be simulated by the interaction of the 3He vortices and domain
walls with fermionic quasiparticles. Formation of defects in a
symmetry-breaking phase transition in the early Universe, which could be
responsible for large-scale structure formation and for microwave-background
anisotropy, also may be modelled in the laboratory. This is supported by the
recent observation of vortex formation in neutron-irradiated 3He-B where the
