This dissertation examines the effects of perceived situational factors such as perceived convenience, perceived cost, perceived duration and perceived effort, related to sustainable plastic recycling, on the circular consumption behavior of sustainable plastic. It also examines the mediating role of environmental attitude in this relationship. The essential aim of this research is to better understand the tripartite relationship between situational factors, circular consumption behavior with the mediating role of environmental attitude. The research methodology adopted is a quantitative one, with an online questionnaire administered to a sample of 1,000 respondents from all Canadian provinces. The data collected were analyzed using statistical techniques such as factor analysis and SPSS software. The results of this research highlight the positive impact of perceived situational factors on environmental attitude. The perception of greater convenience, lower perceived cost, shorter perceived duration and reduced perceived effort associated with the recycling of sustainable plastic favor the adoption of a positive environmental attitude. In addition, the results of this research show the positive relationship between environmental attitude and the circular consumption behavior of sustainable plastic. This research also illustrates the important links between environmental attitudes and circular plastic consumption behavior. It should also be pointed out that, through this study, there is a mediating relationship, notably a partial one, between environmental attitudes and circular plastic consumption behaviour. This research explores how attitudes influence circular plastic behavior, and what mediating role attitudes play in the specific context of cyclical plastic consumption. It will provide important information and thus contribute to a better understanding of the determinants of sustainable behavior. Another major finding of this study is the demonstration of the mediating role of environmental attitude. Perceived situational factors directly influence environmental attitude, which in turn influences sustainable plastic circular consumption behavior. This research offers prospects for enriching the literature on more sustainable consumption practices in the context of the circular economy, and for informing the managerial thinking of project managers

The growing demand for healthy foods has forced researchers to develop processes capable of concentrating or clarifying fruit juices while producing high quality products and the most promising techniques are membrane techniques. However, the obstacle of these techniques is the fouling problem. The objective of this study is to clarify Moroccan Valencia orange juice by ultrafiltration (UF) using two plate membranes characterized by different membrane materials (polyether sulfone (PES) and polysulfone (PS) with a molecular weight cutoff (MWCO) of 30 and 20 k Da respectively. The performance of these membranes was studied in terms of selectivity and productivity in respect to parameters describing juice quality. In the first part of this work, the response surface method (RSM) based on custom designs (CD) was used to model and optimize the UF process. The independent variables of the RSM method are transmembrane pressure (TMP) and feed flow rate (FF), while permeate flux is considered as a response. Secondly, Hermia model and resistance model were applied to describe and to identify the fouling mechanism. According to the results, the two membranes kept the original composition while the total suspended solids (SS) and the pectin content were completely removed. Both factors (TMP) and (FF) influence significantly the permeate flux. A TMP of 1,99-2 bar and FF of 229,99-330 L/h for PES and PS respectively were obtained. ANOVA of the regression model showed that both models are highly significant with R2 > 0,95. However, the PES membrane exhibits a permeate flux which is greater than the PS membrane. The rejection rates of the monitored parameters were lower than those obtained by the PS membrane. The concentration polarization is the main cause of the flux drop and it appears that, for both membranes, the fouling is due to surface fouling mechanisms which is a cake formation

Monitoring the early stages of Cedar natural regeneration in some stations of Chréa Forest (Blidean Atlas, Algeria)

The Cedar (Cedrus atlantica (Endl.) Carrière), endemic species in North Africa, is currently experiencing a regression of its range due first to the decline and second to the lack of regeneration over much of its range. These problems of regeneration seem exacerbated over recent decades, in relation to climate changes that knows the Mediterranean region and to intensification of human action. In Algeria, this issue is more pronounced at low altitude and hot exposures characterized by deficient water. The aim of this study is (i) to analyse in situ behaviour (survival, growth) of cedar seedlings in the early stages of regeneration which are known as the most vulnerable ones and (ii) to attempt to define the niche of cedar regeneration in this restrictive context. The study was conducted at two stations in the cedar forest of Chréa (Blidean Atlas), representing various situations of cedar development. Within these stations, five plots (400 m²) and fourteen elementary quadrats (1 m²), representative of the structural heterogeneity of the cedar forest and diversity of potential host microsites for cedar seeds, have been followed during two years (2013 and 2014). A measure of the respective lengths of underground and aboveground parts was performed on 256 seedlings. A comparative statistical analysis of these different levels of observation was made to highlight the important role of climate on the germination and seedling survival potential relative to the daily, seasonal and interannual variation of climatic parameters (P, Tmin, Tmax) as well as the side effect and the altitude. This comparison showed also the aggravating or moreover deciding role of anthropozoïc action including trampling of seedlings and soil compaction by livestock, silvicultural measures (pruning, cutting, etc.), as well as ploughing boars digging up seedlings, compared to control conditions (exclosure). In fact, average survival rates in this case are considerably higher (54-76 %) compared to situations excluding deferred grazing (9-21 %). Regeneration requires a combination of many factors like adequate availability of seeds, receptive soil, climatic conditions favouring of the emergence of seedlings and not penalizing their survival, but these conditions need a decreased anthropozoïc pressure

Kidney cancer, with 4% of all malignancies, is one of the most common malignancies occurring among in adults. In Saudi Arabia, kidney cancer comprises 2.3% of all cancers, and its incidence has increased by 33%. Partial nephrectomy (PN) is considered as the gold standard for T1 renal masses. In this retrospective study, we did a chart review for all patients who underwent PNs between April 2013 and February 2019. Data comprised pre-sentation, tumor size, type of procedure (open vs. laparoscopic vs. robotic), and intra- and post-operative complications. Chi-square, ANOVA, and cross-tabulation were done using SPSS software. P > 0.05 was considered significant. Approval was obtained from the institutional review board of King Abdullah International Medical Research Center. In all, 69 patients were identified: 26 (37.7%) males and 43 (62.3%) females, with mean age = 54.53 ± 13.21 years; mean body mass index = 32.36 ± 7.03, and mean tumor size = 3.7 ± 1.72 cm. In terms of presentation, most patients (50, 72.4%) presented incidentally as opposed to symptomatic presentation. Of these patients, 18 (26.1%) underwent open partial nephrectomy (OPN), 29 (42%) laparoscopic partial nephrec-tomy (LPN), and 22 (31.9%) robotic partial nephrectomy (RPN). On comparing minimally invasive surgery (MIS) PN with OPN, we found that OPN had more blood loss and a longer hospital stay but a shorter operating room (OR) time. Results of PN irrespective of the procedure type, whether it was OPN, LPN, or RPN, were similar if performed by experienced surgeons. However, open procedures involved a higher blood loss, more operative time, and longer hospital stay when compared with minimally invasive techniques

Treball Final de Grau en Economia. Codi: EC1049. Curs acadèmic: 2018-2019This project attempts to analyze if the common agricultural policy has been a determining factor in the development of Spanish exports of fruit and vegetables to the Member States of the European Union. Once the evolution of exports has been analysed, it will be investigated which of the CAP reforms have had the greatest influence on export trends. With this paper, we will learn more about the Spanish fruit and vegetable sector and the common agricultural policy, as well as the relationship between these factors through exports

Legal system of Consumer Rights for A Safe Product: A Comparative Study

This research shows the evolution of consumer rights with regards to new risks that are threatening him. In fact, the sale conditions, especially those related to the guarantee of hidden defects, are no longer able to provide adequate protection to the consumer. In recent years, new legislations have been introduced to recognize consumer rights as the weakest party in the contract of consumption. Modern laws assign to the seller several obligations, including the obligation to inform the consumer of potential risks and to ensure its safety against the damage caused by the products. By extrapolating modern consumer laws, it can be argued that it recognizes the right of the consumer to obtain a secure product, either through the prevention of known or potential risks of the products, or through the compensation of potential damages that can affect the consumer
