The bit interleaved coded modulation module for DVB-NGH: enhanced features for mobile reception

    No full text
International audienceThis paper describes the main features of the DVB-NGH Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM) module. This latter is derived from a sub-set of DVB-T2 BICM components with additional features intended to first lower receiver complexity and power consumption and then to increase receiver robustness over mobile reception. Therefore, the long code block size was removed, a different range of coding rates was chosen, non-uniform constellations were adopted in order to provide shaping gain, and the principle of signal space diversity was extended to four-dimensional rotated constellations. Moreover the structure of the time interleaver offers the possibility to significantly increase the interleaving depth, a feature required for mobility over terrestrial and satellite links

High diversity multi-block space-time code for broadcasting applications

    No full text
International audienceWe propose a STBC that calls for a 2 times 2x2 matrix seen as a two-block matrix. It enjoys a flexible transmission rate and a diversity order of 8 for a 2x2 MIMO system by exploiting additional time diversity. Its decoding complexity is only proportional to the power of four of the constellation size. The STBC parameters have been optimized to suit fading channels with and without erasure events. These events are typical of single frequency networks that are becoming a popular topology thanks to their low bandwidth requirements. Unlike state-of-the art quasi-orthogonal structures, the proposed multi-block STBC can be jointly optimized for shaping and coding gain

The Relationship between Human Capital Development and University's Business Performance

The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of Human Capital on Middle East University's business performance. Practical data were collected from 167 participants out of about 3217 elements, by means of a questionnaire. Statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA test, correlation, multiple regressions and stepwise regressions were employed. To confirm the suitability of data collection instrument, a Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test, Cronbach’s Alpha and factor analysis were used. The result of the study indicated a positive significant relationship between human capital and Middle East University's business performance. The data is also limited to Jordanian organizations. Extending the research to other settings represent future research opportunities. Human capital is an important source of organizations’ wealth and therefore it should be taken into serious consideration when formulating the MEU’s strategy. The data suggested that a similar set of HC indicators could be developed for other organizations and industries whether government, public or private, profitable or non-profitable organizations. Key Words: Human Capital (HC), Learning and Education (L&E), Experience and Expertise (E&E), Innovation and Creation (I&C), Middle East University (MEU), Business Performance (BP)

Exact implicit Solution of Nonlinear Heat Transfer in Rectangular Straight Fin Using Symmetry Reduction Methods

    Get PDF
In this paper, the exact implicit solution of the second order nonlinear ordinary differential equation which governing heat transfer in rectangular fin is obtained using symmetry reduction methods. General relationship among the temperature at the fin tip, the temperature gradient at the fin base, the mode of heat transfer, and the fin parameters and ℰ is obtained. Some numerical examples are discussed and it is shown that the temperature of fin increases when approaching from the heat source. The relationship between the fin efficiency and the temperature of fin tip is obtained for any value of the mode of heat transfer . The relationship between the fin efficiency and both the parameter and ε the temperature gradient at the fin base is obtained. To our best knowledge, solutions obtained in this paper are new
