Contemporary Tafaqquh programme module in mosques : a review and proposal / Alias Azhar and Rahimin Affandi Abd. Rahim
This paper focuses on the module development model for tafaqquh at the mosque in Kubang Pasu, Kedah. The tafaqquh programme has been systematically conducted jointly by JAKIM, the State Islamic Affairs Department and mosquesâ management committees. The programme has been made successful and effective by the contribution and cooperation of takmir teachers who have been appointed and trained intensively. These takmir teachers play very significant roles in the realisation of the aspiration and the scheme in developing knowledgeable society through the involvement of the mosque. To get the holistic view of the theme and subject of the study, focus is made on several key elements; the history of the development of tafaqquh programme module in the societies of the Malay Archipelago, Islamic education theory which correlates to the National Philosophy of Islamic Education : Studying fiqh method from the current methodology and pedagogy and finally the presentation of the current tafaqquh module of Alternative Islam in Malaysia. The learning of fiqh must be viewed from a broad context and it should be able to have an influence on the life of human beings from all living aspects.The Philosophy of Islamic Education, which is based on al-Quran and al-Sunnah should be able to be implemented realistically. The modification and upgrade of the studying fiqh syllabus in mosques require a drastic approach, besides practical module construction. Through these, it is hoped that the only learning of fiqh through the tafaqquh programme in mosques will progress on par with modernisation and current âurf awareness in the society
Certain aspects of IjitihÄd in Islamic jurisprudence : with special reference to the comparative study between SunnÄ« and ShÄ«'Ä« principles
This work is concerned with certain aspects of IjtihÄd in Islamic jurisprudence by the comparative study of SunnÄ« and ShÄ«'Ä« views. The chosen aspects are; (1) The historical development of IjtihÄd within both traditions. (2) The methodological principles of IjtihÄd. (3) The concept of IjmÄâ. Chapter one deals with the basic formation of the whole discussion, including the background of the concept of IjtihÄd, the origin of Sunnism and Shi'ism and the main reasons for the separation between the two. Chapter two demonstrates the historical development of the theory of IjtihÄd on both sides. It can be seen that there are two figures, i.e. al-ShÄfi'Ä« and 'AllÄma al- HillÄ«, which played an important role in elaborating and developing the theory of IjtihÄd. Therefore, the discussion of this chapter has been separated into three different sections with reference to these two figures. It is suggested that the main reason for the IkhtilÄf between the two in the concept of IjtihÄd was; (1) Different understanding of methods and principles of IjtihÄd. (2) Different understanding of the concept of IjmÄ'. (3) Different understanding of certain basic principles in UsÅ«l al-DÄ«n. Each of these matters has been discussed in chapters three to five

The main patterns of Muhammad Basuni Imran thought is traditionalism, inklusifism and flexible in medium but strong in thawabit. This study revealed substantial contributions of Muhammad Basuni Imran in Islamic legal thought especially in purposes in Islamic laws (maqasid shariâah) and Islamic politic (siyasah sharâiyyah), through the implementation of the concept tadarruj, Maslahah mursalah, al-Tahaluf al-Siyasi, and local wisdom of jurisprudence in adopting the opinion of the validity prayers Friday at least 40 people
THE ROLE AND CONTRIBUTION OF ISLAMIC MOVEMENT TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MALAY CIVILIZATION
The relation of Islam and civilization in the Malay World of Malaysia and Indonesia is unique compared to other Islamic world regions. This article discusses the role and contribution of the Islamic movement in these two regions to the development of Malay world civilization from the earliest times to the modern era today. Using a variety of reliable sources, this paper came to the conclusion that Islamic movements in both countries contributed significantly to the formation of Islamic civilization in the Nusantara Malay World. Starting from the Islamic movement in the form of the spread of Islam and the intellectual movement of Islam in the early days and continued to develop in the form of Islamic movements that are both academic and empirical-pratical. All forms of this Islamic movement succeeded in organizing Malay society and produced a unique Islamic civilization both in the context of Indonesia and Malaysia. Islamic movements in Malaysia and Indonesia managed to identify and answer the needs of modern society and civilization today
Pembangunan modal insan di Malaysia: analisis terhadap pendekatan Islam selepas negara merdeka
Pembentukan Pendekatan Islam Hadhari adalah berasaskan lanjutan pengaruh gerakan
kebangkitan semula Islam era 1970an-1990an yang berusaha menonjolkan keunggulan dan
keindahan ajaran Islam. Manakala pembangunan modal insan merupakan antara agenda
terpenting yang turut diberi perhatian. Oleh itu, tulisan ini membincangkan beberapa
sebab utama yang membawa kepada terbentuknya Pendekatan Islam Hadhari. Selain
itu, dibincangkan mengenai konsep pembangunan modal insan mengikut pemahaman
Pendekatan Islam Hadhari. Analisis kritikal tentang realiti konsep pembangunan modal
insan semasa dengan mengemukakan beberapa faktor yang boleh membawa kepada
kegagalan terhadap Pendekatan Islam Hadhari di Malaysia. Hasilnya, ia bakal mengelak
daripada sikap optimistik yang agak tinggi, yang terlalu asyik dengan kejayaan sehingga
melupakan faktor kegagalan
Transformasi pengajian tinggi aliran Islam sebagai asas pembangunan modal insan: pengalaman APIUM
Artikel ini akan memfokuskan kajian terhadap transformasi pengajian tinggi aliran Islam
yang telah dilaksanakan oleh Akademi Pengajian Islam Universiti Malaya (APIUM).
Sorotan telah dilakukan terhadap pengalaman APIUM yang telah menjadi salah satu
dari pusat pembangunan modal Insan Negara. Kajian ini bertujuan melihat sejauh masa
usaha APIUM dalam mentransformasikan pengajian tinggi aliran Islam bagi menjana
pembangunan modal insan di Malaysia. Bagi mencapai objektif, kajian dilaksanakan
melalui dua metode utama iaitu metode dokumentasi dan juga metode persejarahan.
Kajian mendapati APIUM merupakan sebuah fakulti pengajian lengkap dengan matlamat
melahirkan ulama, cendekiawan dan teknokrat Muslim yang cekap. Diharapkan modal
insan yang telah dan bakal dilahirkan oleh institusi ini dapat memikul amanah dan
tanggungjawab yang diberikan. APIUM juga mempunyai pelan strategik yang jelas bagi
mencapai visi dan misi yang digariskan
Konsep jihad ulama Melayu-Islam dalam Kitab Jawi terpilih: satu analisis
Sejarah Malaysia membuktikan perjuangan orang Melayu menentang penjajah di Tanah Melayu dilakukan oleh pelbagai pihak dan gerakan. Namun begitu, perjuangan golongan ulama dalam membebaskan Tanah Melayu daripada belenggu penjajahan kurang didedahkan. Justeru, objektif kajian ini cuba menganalisis konsep jihad ulama Melayu-Islam yang terkandung dalam kitab Jawi terpilih. Hal ini perlu bagi membuktikan peranan ulama Melayu Islam dalam menyemarakkan semangat nasionalisme seperti yang terkandung dalam fakta sejarah karya-karya kitab Jawi tersebut. Sehubungan dengan itu, kajian ini merupakan kajian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode pengumpulan data melalui kaedah kepustakaan dan analisis dokumen. Hasil kajian mendapati, peranan ulama Melayu-Islam dalam kebangkitan menentang penjajah terbukti, khususnya Ashab Jawi. Fakta sejarah dalam kitab Jawi yang dipilih membuktikan hal ini walaupun peranan mereka sering ditenggelamkan oleh paparan sejarah tajaan British. Mereka menonjolkan tokoh feudal Melayu sebagai pejuang kemerdekaan terawal. Pandangan palsu ini wajib diperbetulkan demi menimbulkan kebenaran dan menunjukkan dimensi jihad ulama Melayu bercirikan semangat keagamaan dan nasionalisme
Pedagogi pengajian syariah di Malaysia: Analisis terhadap pengalaman Akademi Pengajian Islam Universiti Malaya
Sekiranya dilihat reformasi pengajian syariah di institusi pengajian tinggi Malaysia adalah amat memberangsangkan sekali sejajar dengan perkembangan arus globalisasi sekarang. Oleh yang demikian, demi memperkasakan reformasi pengajian syariah, kertas kerja ini akan cuba memperincikan pedagogi pengajian syariah serta perubahan paradigma pemikiran Islam di IPTA Islam Malaysia. Pada dasarnya kertas kerja ini lebih fokus kepada usaha tinjauan awal (pilot studies) daripada Projek UMRG (RG050/09HNE) yang bertajuk âPengajian Syariah di Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia dan Indonesia: kajian perbandingan perspektif paradigma dan modul.â Mengikut tema kajian yang lebih meluas ini, kajian ini disusun khusus mengandungi beberapa bahagian yang utama; pertama, pengenalan; Kedua, teori perubahan pedagogi dan paradigma pemikiran Islam dalam tajdid pendidikan Islam di Malaysia; Ketiga, tajdid pengajian Syariah di APIUM: analisis pedagogi dan keempat, rumusan dan kesimpulan
