The study of probability model for compound similarity searching

    Get PDF
Information Retrieval or IR system main task is to retrieve relevant documents according to the users query. One of IR most popular retrieval model is the Vector Space Model. This model assumes relevance based on similarity, which is defined as the distance between query and document in the concept space. All currently existing chemical compound database systems have adapt the vector space model to calculate the similarity of a database entry to a query compound. However, it assumes that fragments represented by the bits are independent of one another, which is not necessarily true. Hence, the possibility of applying another IR model is explored, which is the Probabilistic Model, for chemical compound searching. This model estimates the probabilities of a chemical structure to have the same bioactivity as a target compound. It is envisioned that by ranking chemical structures in decreasing order of their probability of relevance to the query structure, the effectiveness of a molecular similarity searching system can be increased. Both fragment dependencies and independencies assumption are taken into consideration in achieving improvement towards compound similarity searching system. After conducting a series of simulated similarity searching, it is concluded that PM approaches really did perform better than the existing similarity searching. It gave better result in all evaluation criteria to confirm this statement. In terms of which probability model performs better, the BD model shown improvement over the BIR model

This study, specifically aims to examine the phenomenon of clipped or attenuated words which often takes place in the spoken language.Data for the study were collected from 20 personal blogs of two groups of gender with different sexual orientations (men and gays) selected randomly from blogspot.com from 2009 to 2012.The data were analyzed using semantic prosody as the theoretical approach. New information was extracted from the analysis of the clipping or attenuation of the word “nak.”The findings reveal that the two groups have their own ways of expressing the sense of 'desire' which is realized through the use of the word “nak” by men and gay speakers based on their expression of three (3) main 'desires', namely orientation (sexual, financial), intent (good intention, work, marriage) and feeling (faithfulness, laziness). This situation clearly demonstrates that the phenomenon of the use of language mediates the expressions of outburst, concerns, hopes, and aspirations of gender and transgender groups to the extent that both their thought sand identities can be detected by the readers

Education generally is a planned initiative related to the teaching and learning process to produce learners who are active in developing their potential to meet their own needs and society's.Synergistic process conducted ultimately aims to produce a positive output acceleration of human capital that has religious and spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, good characters and competent, dedicated to the challenges and needs of the 21st century.Armed with such commitment, Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in his speeches often reveals the diversity of education issues in Malaysia particularly in relation to education at the tertiary level. Therefore, this study will describe the information that can be tapped from the use of [education] lexis in his speech texts through the analysis of semantic prosody based on corpus linguistics. A total of 20 speeches are selected at random from a collection of his speeches from 2009 to 2012 to be analyzed. Semantic prosody analysis results show most often Khaled Nordin highlights four (4) text information related to the main theme education namely strengthening the quality of higher education and its academicians, strengthening research and innovation development besides quality student development, and human capital employability. This situation would highlight the evidence that lexis in a language would be able to reveal text information that could be used to understand lexical meanings and values and could also enlighten the leadership identity of its users. The situation is thus able to prove that there are explicit and implicit links between the reality of the language usage and the social reality of its users

    Get PDF
A dynamometer, often known as a dyno, is a tool used to concurrently measure the rotational speed (rpm) and torque of a moving motor or engine to determine the power output at any given moment. A dynamometer is utilized as part of a testbed for numerous engine development tasks in addition to measuring the power produced by the engine or motor. This study aims to develop a low cost Radio-controlled (RC) cars dynamometer using the concept of small scale chassis dynamometer with size range from 1/20 (12cm-7cm) to 1/10 (35cm-43cm) which can establish the value of RPM, torque and horsepower. In this study, a dynamometer is developed using aluminum profile with size 20mm x 20mm for the chassis with a N35 magnet with size 10mm x 20mm that attached to the gravity roller 50mm x 200mm. The LM393 Hall effect magnetic sensor that connected to Arduino Uno R3 will detect the rotation of the magnet at the roller to calculate RC car RPM, Torque and Horsepower that will be displayed on the Arduino L2C Serial LCD. The result is verified using tachometer to compare the value of the RPM, Torque and Horsepower which provide the percentage error of 0.107%. This dynamometer has potential for STEM activity in the Design and Technology (RBT) subject for student learning in school

The hotel industry has the responsibility and role of increasing guest satisfaction with its services and products. This can be carried out through efficient service by frontline employees, particularly the Front Office receptionists. Developing an efficient workforce may depend on their sense of belonging or loyalty to the organization. There are many ways and means of developing employees’ levels of loyalty to their organization. Empowering employees and high job satisfaction levels are among the studied factors that influence positive employee outcomes. This study was conducted to examine the influences of psychological empowerment and overall job satisfaction on the employee loyalty of Front Office Receptionists in Kuala Lumpur 5-star hotels. A total of 210 questionnaires were distributed at 21 hotels rated as 5-star hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Results showed that employee psychological empowerment does not have any significant impacts on loyalty. However, the findings suggested that overall job satisfaction did have a significant influence on loyalty. Hotel managers might consider more competitive solutions in their effort to increase the employee’s loyalty, for example by enhancing participation in the departmental decision making, encourage creativity, implementing a better work environment and employment packages

    Get PDF
The amount of water in gluten-free recipes is very important to the quality of the end product. The research aimed to develop an alternative formula for gluten-free bread using different water levels. This research was conducted to determine the physical properties, rheological profile and sensory evaluation of natural gluten-free bread produced by adding different water levels to the recipe without adding hydrocolloid. Five types of bread with different levels of water at (A) 80%; (B) 90%; (C) 100%; (D) and control dough: 105% (control 1); (E) 60% (wheat breadcontrol 2) of the flour basis were investigated. Control 1 is the standard level of water for making gluten-free bread, while control 2 is the standard level of water for preparing wheat bread. Sample A has a lighter crust and crumbs, as well as a white index value and lower ΔE values comparable to wheat bread, better volume, increased pore size sharply and shows higher G’ and G”. G’ decreased as the amount of water in the dough increased. All dough formulations had higher gelatinisation enthalpy change (ΔH) values than sample A and sample E. The bakery sector could use the findings to design and reformulate the recipes of diabetic and/or reduced calorie and gluten-free bread recipes to better fulfill consumers’ expectations
