Housework and childcare in Italy: a persistent case of gender inequality
This article focuses on the gender gap in housework and childcare in Italian couples. Italian women still carry out three-quarters of domestic work and two-thirds of childcare. We focus on three possible theoretical explanations for the persistence of the gendered division of labor: time availability, relative resources, and conformity with traditional gender ideology. Time Use data from the 2008/09 Survey edition have been used: we considered couples, married or in consensual unions, with at least one child under 14 years of age and with the mother employed
Lowest eigenvalue of the nuclear shell model Hamiltonian
In this paper we investigate regular patterns of matrix elements of the
nuclear shell model Hamiltonian , by sorting the diagonal matrix elements
from the smaller to larger values. By using simple plots of non-zero matrix
elements and lowest eigenvalues of artificially constructed "sub-matrices"
of , we propose a new and simple formula which predicts the lowest
eigenvalue with remarkable precisions.Comment: six pages, four figures, Physical Review C, in pres
Perovskite Manganites Hosting Versatile Multiferroic Phases with Symmetric and Antisymmetric Exchange Strictions
Complete magnetoelectric (ME) phase diagrams of orthorhombic MnO
with and without magnetic moments on the ions have been established. Three
kinds of multiferroic ground states, the -cycloidal, the -cycloidal,
and the collinear -type phases, have been identified by the distinct ME
responses. The electric polarization of the -type phase dominated by the
symmetric spin exchange () is more than 10 times as
large as that of the -cycloidal phase dominated by the antisymmetric one
(), and the ME response is enhanced near the
bicritical phase boundary between these multiferroic phases of different
origins. These findings will provide an important clue for the development of
the magnetically induced multiferroics.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Generalized Morse and Poschl-Teller potentials : The connection via Schrodinger equation
We present here a systematic and unified treatment to connect the Schrodinger
equation corresponding to generalized Morse and Poschl-Teller potentials. We
then show that the wave functions and generalized potentials are linked through
the Fourier and Hankel transforms, respectively.Comment: 17 pages, 0 figure
