Avaliação de Desempenho da Política EBS para Escalonamento em Aplicações com Restrições de Máximo Tempo Médio de Resposta

    Get PDF

First record of Batrachoides surinamensis (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) and Canthidermis maculata (Bloch, 1786) (Pisces: Teleostei) from Rio Grande do Norte, northeastern coast of Brazil

A new occurrence each of Batrachoides surinamensis and Canthidermis maculata is reported in the northeastern coast of Brazil. This report adds to the known records for both species and increases the regional marine fish richness to 461 species. Following these records, 1.6 tons of C. maculata were landed from May 2016 to January 2017, representing more than 1,500 individuals caught monthly. While it sheds light on the importance of C. maculata, the economic and social role of B. surinamensis remains unknown. Likewise, their conservation status is currently uncertain and further investigation is warranted

RISK MANAGEMENT AND PERSONAL VALUES: a research in process

    Get PDF
Various authors have identified behavioral factors that may affect the perceptions that people. have about risks. Facing the risks requires that the company manages them, understanding in advance their nature and impact, monitoring the relevant indicators to anticipate their occurrence, and being ready to act immediately at the first signs of trouble. Risk perception is hard to understand. This paper presents an research in process aimed at deepening scientific knowledge of managing the risks associated with personal values in crowdsourcing innovation. Specifically, we will identify the main human risks factors and we will also seek to understand how personal values might potentially affect the risk´s perception. As deliverables of the research we will produce a checklist to manage risks associated with

Crise cambial, instabilidade financeira e reforma do sistema monetário internacional: uma abordagem pós-keynesiana

    Get PDF

Chitosan-based scaffolds for tissue regeneration: preparation and microstructure characterization

Scaffolds are porous three-dimensional supports, designed to mimic the extracellular environment and remain temporarily integrated into the host tissue while stimulating, at the molecular level, specific cellular responses to each type of body tissues. The major goal of the research work entertained herein was to study the microstructure of scaffolds made from chitosan (Ch), blends of chitosan and sodium alginate (Ch/NaAlg), blends of chitosan, sodium alginate and calcium chloride (Ch/NaAlg/CaCl2) and blends of chitosan, sodium alginate and hydroxyapatite (Ch/NaAlg/HA). Scaffolds possessing ideal physicochemical properties facilitate cell proliferation and greatly increase the rate of recovery of a damaged organ tissue. Using CT three-dimensional images of the scaffolds, it was observed that all scaffolds had a porosity in the range 64%-92%, a radius of maximum pore occurrence in the range 95m-260m and a permeability in the range 1×10-10-18×10-10 m2. From the results obtained, the scaffolds based on Ch, Ch/NaAlg and Ch/NaAlg/CaCl2 would be most appropriate both for the growth of osteoid and for bone tissue regeneration, while the scaffold made with a blend of Ch/NaAlg/HA, by possessing larger pores size, might be used as a support for fibrovascular tissue.Project funding by Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP, São Paulo, Brazil) (FAPESP Refs. Pediatric trauma patient

The purpose of this chapter is to present those principles of care that impact the integrity of the airway, breathing, and circulation or influence the priorities of advanced trauma life support for the pediatric trauma patient. Assessment and treatment decisions must be made quickly to prevent progression and deterioration to respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest. Definitive evaluation and initial treatment of most other injuries can be safely undertaken after ventilation, oxygenation, and perfusion have been restored. Such definitive care is provided upon completion of the secondary survey, a detailed head-to-toe examination for detection of specific injuries.
