Effects of supplemental feed and fertilizer on growth and survival of Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man) post larvae in pond nursery system
The study was conducted to compare the performance of different nursing practices of giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) post-larvae (PL). Three treatments such as only fertilizers (T1), fertilizers with 5% supplementary feed (local feed) (T2), and 10% commercial feed (T3) were applied in the nursing system of prawn PLs in earthen pond. An earthen pond (315m²) was divided into nine equal small ponds by fine meshed nylon nets. Feeds were used once daily on a tray placed near the pond bottom. There was a significant difference (p<0.05) in some water quality parameters like pH and total alkalinity, but all measured water quality parameters viz. water temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen and ammonia-nitrogen were within the acceptable range for nursing of prawn PL. The results showed that the mean final lengths of prawn post-larvae were 6.3±0.07 cm, 7.12±0.22 cm and 8.17±0.16 cm in T1, T2 and T3, respectively. There were significant difference (p<0.05) in mean final length of prawn PL among the treatments. Significantly higher (p<0.05) average daily weight gain was observed in T3 (0.071 ±0.007 g) than in T2 (0.052±0.006 g) and T1 (0.031 ±0.002 g). The specific growth rate (SGR) of T3 (8.81±0.26) was found significantly higher (p<0.05) than T2 (8.35±0.22) and T1 (7.42±0.11). Survival rate (%) was also significantly higher (p<0.05) in T3 (66.24±1.58) than in T2 (60.52±1.64) and T1 (53.86±2.71). Therefore, it may be concluded that the growth and survival in prawn nursery was better in commercial feed than only fertilizers and fertilizers with local feeds
AlH3 between 65-110 GPa: implications of electronic band and phonon structures
A first-principles density-functional-theory method has been used to
reinvestigate the mechanical and dynamical stability of the metallic phase of
AlH3 between 65-110 GPa. The electronic properties and phonon dynamics as a
function of pressure are also explored. We find electron-phonon
superconductivity in the cubic Pm-3n structure with critical temperature Tc =
37 K at 70 GPa which decreases rapidly with the increase of pressure. Further
unlike a previously calculated Tc value of 24 K at 110 GPa, we do not find any
superconductivity of significance at this pressure which is consistent with
experimental observation.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures Keywords: AlH3, Electronic structure, Phonon

Performance analysis of a dynamic query processing scheme
Traditional query optimizers produce a fixed query evaluation plan based on assumptions about data distribution and processor workloads. However, these assumptions may not hold at query execution time. In this paper, we propose a dynamic query processing scheme and we present the performance results obtained by simulation of a queueing network model of the proposed software architecture

Results and Perspectives in HEP, vis-a-vis Lattice QCD
I review in this presentation some aspects of phenomenology in High Energy
Physics which are related to recent and possibly future progress in lattice
QCD. In particular, I cover (i) the extraction of CKM matrix elements from B
physics, (ii) the determination of epsilon'/epsilon, as well as (iii) some
issues emerged in the physics of high energy jets produced in hadronic
collisions, where input from non-perturbative calculations would benefit our
capability to perform better theoretical predictions.Comment: 13 pages, Latex, 9 figures. Plenary talk delivered at the XVIIth

State transfer in dissipative and dephasing environments
By diagonalization of a generalized superoperator for solving the master
equation, we investigated effects of dissipative and dephasing environments on
quantum state transfer, as well as entanglement distribution and creation in
spin networks. Our results revealed that under the condition of the same
decoherence rate , the detrimental effects of the dissipative
environment are more severe than that of the dephasing environment. Beside
this, the critical time at which the transfer fidelity and the
concurrence attain their maxima arrives at the asymptotic value
quickly as the spin chain length increases. The transfer
fidelity of an excitation at time is independent of when the system
subjects to dissipative environment, while it decreases as increases when
the system subjects to dephasing environment. The average fidelity displays
three different patterns corresponding to , and . For
each pattern, the average fidelity at time is independent of when the
system subjects to dissipative environment, and decreases as increases when
the system subjects to dephasing environment. The maximum concurrence also
decreases as increases, and when , it arrives at an
asymptotic value determined by the decoherence rate and the structure
of the spin network.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
Topical application of silymarin enhances cutaneous wound healing in rats
Abstract Wound healing in a short period with minimum side effects is one of the major goals of medical sciences. Silymarin, an extract from Silybum marianum, has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This study investigates the wound healing activity of silymarin topical formulation in an in experimental model. A 875 mm2 (25 × 35 mm) full-thickness excision was made on the abdominal region of each rat by a surgical blade and the day on which the wound was made considered as day 0. Each rat was treated two times each day. On days 1,4, 8 and 12, the wound area was measured using precise caliber and camera imaging. On day 12, blood samples were collected for the analysis of antioxidant, malondialdehyde and estradiol levels. After 12 days of treatment, rats were sacrificed and abdominal region tissues used for histological analyses. The study showed that topical application of silymarin on wound in rats improved wound healing correlating with less redness, exudates and swelling. Furthermore, in serum of rats treated with silymarin ointment improved antioxidant and estradiol levels, while decreased malondialdehyde levels, a marker of oxidative stress. Histological analyses showed also an improve of novel blood vessels. This effect on angiogenesis correlated with improve nitric oxide synthase expression and epithelial cells after treatment with silymarin. Silymarin ointment represents a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of wounds through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
Trace and major element contents, microbial communities, and enzymatic activities of urban soils of Marrakech city along an anthropization gradient
Due to their close proximity with the population, urban soils are extensively affected by human activities that release considerable technogenic inputs resulting in an overall soil degradation and leading to an increase of water-extractable fraction of trace elements. This work aimed to determine the influence of anthropization on trace and major element concentrations and to assess how it might also affect soil biochemical and microbiological parameters in an urban area of Marrakech city, Morocco.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Photons, neutrinos and optical activity
We compute the one-loop helicity amplitudes for low-energy
scattering and its crossed channels in the standard
model with massless neutrinos. In the center of mass, with , the cross sections for these channels grow roughly
as . The scattered photons in the elastic channel are circularly
polarized and the net value of the polarization is non-zero. We also present a
discussion of the optical activity of a sea of neutrinos and estimate the
values of its index of refraction and rotary power.Comment: 9 pages, ReVTeX4, 6 figures include
