RSM based design optimization
Response Surface Models (RSM) based on data from designed numerical experiments are useful as approximation models in Engineering Optimization. Their construction can be enhanced by the inclusion of design sensitivity data. In this short paper we discuss two strategies to accomplish this. We compare both strategies in a numerical example and draw some general conclusions regarding their practical value
Approximation methods in structural optimization using experimental designs for multiple responses
Computation of bell profiles using structural optimization
\u3cp\u3eThis article describes the design of the profile for a major-third bell using structural optimization strategies. First a sequential linear programming method was used to find a prototype of the bell. The necessary analyses were done using the finite element method. Next, a fast analysis model was derived by numerical experimental design techniques. This analysis model led to the final geometry of the major-third bell. \u3c/p\u3
