Scorching chilies
Without chilies, one’s cooking would be very bland and tasteless. A dash of chilli powder will add more body and flavour to the food. Chilies are not only used in main dishes, but also in desserts, chocolates and beverages. Chillies are used for different purposes: the Malays use dried or fresh chilies by blending or pounding them using a mortar and pestle. The Indians on the other hand use green chillies and chilli powder to be added to their curries. Whereas, the Chinese only use a small amount of chillies in their cuisine. A burning hot chilly produce an awakening affect and increase the acuity of the senses. Chilies are also known for its stimulant effect; as such they help in blood circulation and raise body temperature
Application of fuzzy linear regression models for predicting tumor size of colorectal cancer in Malaysia's Hospital
Fuzzy linear regression analysis has become popular among researchers and standard model in analysing data vagueness phenomena. These models were represented by five statistical models such as multiple linear regression, fuzzy linear regression (Tanaka), fuzzy linear regression (Ni), extended fuzzy linear regression under benchmarking model (Chung) and fuzzy linear regression with symmetric parameter (Zolfaghari). A case study in colorectal cancer (CRC) data at the general hospital in Kuala Lumpur was carried out using the five models as mention above. Secondary data of 180 colorectal cancer patients who received treatment in general hospital were recorded by nurses and doctors. Twenty five independent variables with different combination of variable types were considered to find the best models to predict the size of tumor colorectal cancer. The quality of life among CRC patients which is to detect the early CRC stage is still very poor, not implemented and divulged as a nationwide programme. The main objective of this study is to determine the best model by predicting the size of tumor of CRC. Moreover, this study wants to identify the factors and symptoms that contribute the size of tumor. The comparisons among the five models were carried out to find the best model by using statistical measurements of mean square error (MSE) and root mean square error (RMSE). The results showed that the fuzzy linear regression with symmetric parameter (Zolfaghari) was found to be the best model, having the lowest MSE and RMSE value by 98.21 and 9.91. Hence, the size of tumor could be predicted by managing twenty five independent variables
Intellectual Capital (IC) Determinants: Impact on Productivity of Islamic Banks
This research aimed to investigate the relationship between the Intellectual Capital (IC) efficiency empirically. It consisted of human capital, structural capital, capital employed, and relational capital with the impact on the productivity of Islamic banks in Malaysia. The Pulic\u27s Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) method with the extended and modified version introduced by former scholars was used to measure IC, whereas bank productivity was measured through Assets Turnover Ratio (ATO). Three internal factors that might have determinants effect on VAIC, namely bank size, bank risks, and leverage were further tested to find their relationship. Structural stability tests and dynamic regression models for panel data were also used for the data of 16 Islamic banks in Malaysia from 2009 to 2016. The panel-corrected standard errors estimation technique was used to estimate a panel regression model with bank productivity and VAIC as the dependent variables. The regression analysis suggests that Malaysian Islamic banks are depending heavily on the capital employed component of intellectual capital, followed by human capital, structural capital, and relational capital. The results also suggest that bank\u27s risks and leverage play a major role in determining intellectual capital. The findings may serve as a useful input for Islamic bankers to indicate whether the contribution of intellectual capital and its components needs further improvement which it has produced the best results, and internal factor might affect IC

Development of Islamic law: the application of ‘urf in halal animal slaughtering practices
Islamic law is often misunderstood as a rigid and outdated law which is non-compatible to be exercised in this modern day. This is, however, not true due to the recognition of legal reasoning, al-ijtihad, in Islamic legal tradition where Islamic law is adaptable and flexible in line with the changing of times, places and circumstances. Halal industry, particularly the animal slaughtering practices is one of the areas that experience positive developments which lead to the emergence of new practices like stunning and mechanical slaughtering. Indeed, these practices are regarded as a new phenomenon in which there the issue was not clearly discussed in the classical literatures hence needs for further clarification on the status of Shariah legal rulings, hukm, from various sources of Islamic law including ‘urf. This paper is an attempt to discuss the development of Islamic law with special reference to the application of ‘urf in halal animal slaughtering practices. In order to achieve the objective, opinions from both classical and modern literatures are examined and analyzed in order to understand the development of Islamic law in halal industry. The findings show that ‘urf is considered as the most suitable instrument in determining the legal status of modern animal slaughtering practices since it is applicable to all kinds of situations, places and times
The electrical behaviour of polymer insulator under different weather conditions
This paper presents the behavior of 33kV polymer insulator under nominal voltage and impulse by means of lightning activities. The electrical performance of the insulator is translated to electric field under uniform weather conditions which comprises of air humidity and contamination. ANSYS Maxwell modeling software is used to simulate the structure of the polymer insulator based on the real existing insulator’s dimension. The trend of electric field increase is discussed in detail
Fruit culinary culture
In Malaysia, fruits are cultivated throughout the year and some are based on the season. Fruits like banana, papaya, guava, starfruit, jackfruit, mangoes, ciku (sapodilla) and melons are available all year round. Whereas, some fruits like durian, rambutan, mangosteen, cempedak, and duku are in season from May to July. Surprisingly, in recent years some of these fruits are available all year round. Fruits
can be easily found at fruit stalls by the road-side, night markets, wet markets, supermarkets and hypermarkets as well as some provision shops throughout the country
