Analysis of the Acid Detergent Fibre Content in Turnip Greens and Turnip Tops (Brassica rapa L. Subsp. rapa) by Means of Near-Infrared Reflectance
Standard wet chemistry analytical techniques currently used to determine plant fibre constituents are costly, time-consuming and destructive. In this paper the potential of near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) to analyse the contents of acid detergent fibre (ADF) in turnip greens and turnip tops has been assessed. Three calibration equations were developed: in the equation without mathematical treatment the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.91, in the first-derivative treatment equation R2 = 0.95 and in the second-derivative treatment R2 = 0.96. The estimation accuracy was based on RPD (the ratio between the standard deviation and the standard error of validation) and RER (the ratio between the range of ADF of the validation as a whole and the standard error of prediction) of the external validation. RPD and RER values were of 2.75 and 9.00 for the treatment without derivative, 3.41 and 11.79 with first-derivative, and 3.10 and 11.03 with second-derivative. With the acid detergent residue spectrum the wavelengths were identified and associated with the ADF contained in the sample. The results showed a great potential of NIRS for predicting ADF content in turnip greens and turnip tops

Faraday effect : a field theoretical point of view
We analyze the structure of the vacuum polarization tensor in the presence of
a background electromagnetic field in a medium. We use various discrete
symmetries and crossing symmetry to constrain the form factors obtained for the
most general case. From these symmetry arguments, we show why the vacuum
polarization tensor has to be even in the background field when there is no
background medium. Taking then the background field to be purely magnetic, we
evaluate the vacuum polarization to linear order in it. The result shows the
phenomenon of Faraday rotation, i.e., the rotation of the plane of polarization
of a plane polarized light passing through this background. We find that the
usual expression for Faraday rotation, which is derived for a non-degenerate
plasma in the non-relativistic approximation, undergoes substantial
modification if the background is degenerate and/or relativistic. We give
explicit expressions for Faraday rotation in completely degenerate and
ultra-relativistic media.Comment: 20 pages, Latex, uses axodraw.st
Glide and Superclimb of Dislocations in Solid He
Glide and climb of quantum dislocations under finite external stress,
variation of chemical potential and bias (geometrical slanting) in Peierls
potential are studied by Monte Carlo simulations of the effective string model.
We treat on unified ground quantum effects at finite temperatures . Climb at
low is assisted by superflow along dislocation core -- {\it superclimb}.
Above some critical stress avalanche-type creation of kinks is found. It is
characterized by hysteretic behavior at low . At finite biases gliding
dislocation remains rough even at lowest -- the behavior opposite to
non-slanted dislocations. In contrast to glide, superclimb is characterized by
quantum smooth state at low temperatures even for finite bias. In some
intermediate -range giant values of the compressibility as well as
non-Luttinger type behavior of the core superfluid are observed.Comment: Updated version submitted to JLTP as QFS2010 proceedings; 11 pages, 6

The Star Product on the Fuzzy Supersphere
The fuzzy supersphere is a finite-dimensional matrix
approximation to the supersphere incorporating supersymmetry
exactly. Here the star-product of functions on is obtained by
utilizing the OSp(2,1) coherent states. We check its graded commutative limit
to and extend it to fuzzy versions of sections of bundles using the
methods of [1]. A brief discussion of the geometric structure of our
star-product completes our work.Comment: 21 pages, LaTeX, new material added, minor errors correcte
Originally, palm trees are species adapted to tropical rainforest. However, there are a significant number of species adapted to ecosystems with some degree of drought. In South America there are 130 species adapted to relatively dry ecosystems, which tells about its ability to adapt to environments with scarce water resources. This quality enables them to adapt perfectly into the context of decreasing rainfall caused by climate change. However, in South America, the adaptation of palm trees to dry ecosystems has delayed among 10 to 15 million of years, and only 13 strains of palm trees had the ability to pass from the rainforest to dry ecosystems, suggesting that although they are adaptable to new ecosystems, there are also less flexible to respond to rapid changes of the weather
Alloreactive T cells to assess acute rejection risk in kidney transplant recipients
Background.Memory T cells are important mediators of transplant rejection but are not routinely measured before or after kidney transplantation. The aims of this study were as follows: (1) validate whether pretransplant donor-reactive memory T cells are reliable predictors of acute rejection (AR) (2) determine whether donor-reactive memory T cells can distinguish AR from other causes of transplant dysfunction. Methods.Samples from 103 consecutive kidney transplant recipients (2018-2019) were obtained pretransplantation and at time of for-cause biopsy sampling within 6 mo of transplantation. The number of donor-reactive interferon gamma (IFN-gamma) and interleukin (IL)-21-producing memory T cells was analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot (ELISPOT) assay. Results.Of the 63 patients who underwent a biopsy, 25 had a biopsy-proven acute rejection (BPAR; 22 aTCMR and 3 aAMR), 19 had a presumed rejection, and 19 had no rejection. Receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that the pretransplant IFN-gamma ELISPOT assay distinguished between patients who later developed BPAR and patients who remained rejection-free (area under the curve [AUC] 0.73; sensitivity 96% and specificity 41%). Both the IFN-gamma and IL-21 assays were able to discriminate BPAR from other causes of transplant dysfunction (AUC 0.81; sensitivity 87% and specificity 76% and AUC 0.81; sensitivity 93% and specificity 68%, respectively). Conclusions. This study validates that a high number of donor-reactive memory T cells before transplantation is associated with the development of AR after transplantation. Furthermore, it demonstrates that the IFN-gamma and IL-21 ELISPOT assays are able to discriminate between patients with AR and patients without AR at the time of biopsy sampling.Personalised Therapeutic
Dynamin-2 R465W mutation induces long range perturbation in highly ordered oligomeric structures
High order oligomers are crucial for normal cell physiology, and protein function perturbed by missense mutations underlies several autosomal dominant diseases. Dynamin-2 is one of such protein forming helical oligomers that catalyze membrane fission. Mutations in this protein, where R465W is the most frequent, cause dominant centronuclear myopathy, but the molecular mechanisms underpinning the functional modifications remain to be investigated. To unveil the structural impact of this mutation in dynamin-2, we used full-atom molecular dynamics simulations and coarse-grained models and built dimers and helices of wild-type (WT) monomers, mutant monomers, or both WT and mutant monomers combined. Our results show that the mutation R465W causes changes in the interactions with neighbor amino acids that propagate through the oligomer. These new interactions perturb the contact between monomers and favor an extended conformation of the bundle signaling element (BSE), a dynamin region that transmits the conformational changes from the GTPase domain to the rest of the protein. This extended configuration of the BSE that is only relevant in the helices illustrates how a small change in the microenvironment surrounding a single residue can propagate through the oligomer structures of dynamin explaining how dominance emerges in large protein complexes. © 2020, The Author(s).Indexación Scopushttps://www-nature-com.recursosbiblioteca.unab.cl/articles/s41598-020-75216-
