Pattern of cutaneous wound healing in a live fish Clarias batrachus (L.)(Clariidae, Pisces.)
Incisional wounds of the same length and depth were made on skin between dorsal fin and the lateral line canal of Clarias batrachus and the pattern of wound closure has been studied histologically. Following infliction, a marked change in the colour of the skin surrounding the wound was observed which lasted for about 30 h and restored thereafter. Mucus and blood cells plugged the wound gap shortly after infliction. The epidermis surrounding the wound was found to be detached from the basement membrane. Mass movement of epidermal cells was observed from both side of the wound gap. The epidermal cells at the margin of the wound became hypertrophied. The epidermis became normal by 32 days. The dealing of sub-epidermal tissue indicated degenerative and regenerative changes of muscle fibres. The mucus and blood cells were accumulated in the wound gap and later fine blood vessels were formed. Gradually granulation tissue was formed and fibroblasts and myoblasts appeared. Myoblast differentiated into muscle bundles. The epidermal repair was completed within 35 days
Hard Photon production from unsaturated quark gluon plasma at two loop level
The hard photon productions from bremsstrahlung and annihilation with
scattering that arise at two loop level are estimated from a chemically
non-equilibrated quark gluon plasma using the frame work of thermal field
theory. Although, the rate of photon production is suppressed due to
unsaturated phase space, the above suppression is relatively smaller than
expected due to an additional collinear enhancement (arise due to decrease in
thermal quark mass) as compared to it's equilibrium counterpart. Interestingly,
unlike the one loop case, the reduction in the two loop processes are found to
be independent of gluon chemical poential, but strongly depends on quark
fugacity. It is also found that, since the phase space suppression is highest
for annihilation with scattering, the photon production is entirely dominated
by bremsstrahlung mechanism at all energies. This is to be contrasted with the
case of the equilibrated plasma where annihilation with scattering dominates
the photon production particularly at higher energies.Comment: Latex 12 pages, 13 eps figure
A contribution to the earthworm (Annelida, Clitellata, Megadrili) fauna of the central Indian state Chhattisgarh, India
Drawida willsi was the first species of earthworm reported from Chhattisgarh state by Michaelsen in 1907. After that, only one survey of earthworm has been carried out there in 2021. Here we present a first-hand information on the survey
of earthworms carried out in Chhattisgarh state in the year 2022. The study documents 12 species belonging to 4 families. Among these, Dichogaster affinis (Michaelsen, 1890) and Polypheretima elongata (Perrier, 1872) are exotic peregrine species. Species such as Drawida limella Gates, 1934, Lennogaster chittagongensis (Stephenson, 1917) and Octochaetona compta (Gates, 1945) expanded their distribution to central India. The study also noted the presence of microplastic for the first time in the ingesta of an earthworm (Lampito mauritii Kinberg, 1867) from India. Further detailed survey would add more species into the faunal list of Chhattisgarh, even species new to science
Shot noise in resonant tunneling through a zero-dimensional state with a complex energy spectrum
We investigate the noise properties of a GaAs/AlGaAs resonant tunneling
structure at bias voltages where the current characteristic is determined by
single electron tunneling. We discuss the suppression of the shot noise in the
framework of a coupled two-state system. For large bias voltages we observed
super-Poissonian shot noise up to values of the Fano factor .Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, accepted for Phys. Rev.
The STAR Photon Multiplicity Detector
Details concerning the design, fabrication and performance of STAR Photon
Multiplicity Detector (PMD) are presented. The PMD will cover the forward
region, within the pseudorapidity range 2.3--3.5, behind the forward time
projection chamber. It will measure the spatial distribution of photons in
order to study collective flow, fluctuation and chiral symmetry restoration.Comment: 15 pages, including 11 figures; to appear in a special NIM volume

Magnetic Response in a Zigzag Carbon Nanotube
Magnetic response of interacting electrons in a zigzag carbon nanotube
threaded by a magnetic flux is investigated within a Hartree-Fock mean field
approach. Following the description of energy spectra for both non-interacting
and interacting cases we analyze the behavior of persistent current in
individual branches of a nanotube. Our present investigation leads to a
possibility of getting a filling-dependent metal-insulator transition in a
