State space c-reductions for concurrent systems in rewriting logic
We present c-reductions, a state space reduction technique.
The rough idea is to exploit some equivalence relation on states (possibly capturing system regularities) that preserves behavioral properties, and explore the induced quotient system. This is done by means of a canonizer
function, which maps each state into a (non necessarily unique) canonical representative of its equivalence class. The approach exploits the expressiveness of rewriting logic and its realization in Maude to enjoy several advantages over similar approaches: exibility and simplicity in
the definition of the reductions (supporting not only traditional symmetry reductions, but also name reuse and name abstraction); reasoning support for checking and proving correctness of the reductions; and automatization
of the reduction infrastructure via Maude's meta-programming
features. The approach has been validated over a set of representative case studies, exhibiting comparable results with respect to other tools
Combination of the anti-CD30-auristatin-E antibody-drug conjugate (SGN-35) with chemotherapy improves antitumour activity in Hodgkin lymphoma
The antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) cAC10-vcMMAE consists of the tubulin inhibitor monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE) conjugated to the chimeric anti-CD30 monoclonal antibody cAC10. This ADC potently interferes with the growth of CD30-positive haematological tumours, including Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and anaplastic large-cell lymphoma. This study found improved antitumour activity in a preclinical model of HL when SGN-35 was combined with chemotherapeutic regimens such as ABVD (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine) or gemcitabine. Improved efficacy was also observed in high tumour burden models, indicating that combining ADCs with chemotherapeutic agents may be advantageous for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory HL
Anisotropic vortex pinning in superconductors with a square array of rectangular submicron holes
We investigate vortex pinning in thin superconducting films with a square
array of rectangular submicron holes ("antidots"). Two types of antidots are
considered: antidots fully perforating the superconducting film, and "blind
antidots", holes that perforate the film only up to a certain depth. In both
systems, we observe a distinct anisotropy in the pinning properties, reflected
in the critical current Ic, depending on the direction of the applied
electrical current: parallel to the long side of the antidots or perpendicular
to it. Although the mechanism responsible for the effect is very different in
the two systems, they both show a higher critical current and a sharper
IV-transition when the current is applied along the long side of the
rectangular antidots
Search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a pair in events with no charged leptons and large missing transverse energy using the full CDF data set
We report on a search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in
association with a vector boson in the full data set of proton-antiproton
collisions at TeV recorded by the CDF II detector at the
Tevatron, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.45 fb. We
consider events having no identified charged lepton, a transverse energy
imbalance, and two or three jets, of which at least one is consistent with
originating from the decay of a quark. We place 95% credibility level upper
limits on the production cross section times standard model branching fraction
for several mass hypotheses between 90 and . For a Higgs
boson mass of , the observed (expected) limit is 6.7

association with a W boson in sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV p-pbar collision data
collected with the CDF II detector at the Tevatron corresponding to an
integrated luminosity of 9.45 fb-1. In events consistent with the decay of the
Higgs boson to a bottom-quark pair and the W boson to an electron or muon and a
neutrino, we set 95% credibility level upper limits on the WH production cross
section times the H->bb branching ratio as a function of Higgs boson mass. At a
Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV/c2 we observe (expect) a limit of 4.9 (2.8) times

Tevatron, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.45/fb. In events
consistent with the decay of the Higgs boson to a bottom-quark pair and the Z
boson to electron or muon pairs, we set 95% credibility level upper limits on
the ZH production cross section times the H -> bb branching ratio as a function

Measurement of the difference of CP-violating asymmetries in D0 -> K+K- and D0 ->pi+pi- decays at CDF
We report a measurement of the difference (Delta Acp) between time-integrated
CP--violating asymmetries in D0-> K+ K- and D0-> pi+pi- decays reconstructed in
the full data set of proton-antiproton collisions collected by the Collider
Detector at Fermilab, corresponding to 9.7 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The
strong decay D*+->D0 pi+ is used to identify the charm meson at production as
D0 or anti-D0. We measure Delta Acp = [-0.62 +- 0.21 (stat) +- 0.10 (syst)] %,
which differs from zero by 2.7 Gaussian standard deviations.This result
supports similar evidence for CP violation in charm-quark decays obtained in
