White Leghorn layer breeder hens, 30 weeks of age, were divided into 12 groups (A-L). Group A was kept on basal feed and served as control, while group B was offered feed supplemented with vitamin E (100 mg/Kg). Groups C-G were offered feed containing 100, 500, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 µg/Kg aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), respectively, whereas groups H-L were offered same dietary levels of AFB1 along with vitamin E (100 mg/Kg). The experimental feeds were offered for three weeks and afterward all the groups were switched over to basal feed for next two weeks. Body weight, absolute and relative weights of liver and kidneys of AF fed birds were significantly higher than control group. Pathological lesions in aflatoxin (AF) fed birds included enlarged, pale and friable liver, swollen kidneys and hemorrhages on different organs. Histopathological lesions in liver included fatty change, congestion and hemorrhages, while in kidneys tubular necrosis, cellular infiltration, congestion and hemorrhages were found in groups fed AFB1 at 500 μg/Kg and higher doses. In AF fed hens, no significant ameliorative effects of vitamin E could be observed upon AF induced decrease in feed intake, gross pathology and histopathological alterations and organ weight except body weights. It was concluded that the vitamin E ameliorated the AFB1 induced toxic effects in some of parameters studied

The Influence of Oxygen Substitution on the Optoelectronic Properties of ZnTe

We communicate theoretical results of the structural, electronic, and optical properties of ZnOxTe1-x (0≤x≤1) in the zincblende structure. The calculations are performed using full potential linearized augmented plane waves (FP-LAPW) method, based on density functional theory (DFT). The structural properties are calculated with simple GGA (PBEsol), while the electronic and optical properties are calculated using mBJ-GGA. The mBJ-GGA is used to properly treat the active d-orbital in their valence shell. The ZnOTe alloy is highly lattice mismatched and consequently the lattice constants and bulk moduli largely deviate from the linear behavior. The calculated bandgaps are in agreement with the experimentally measured values, where the nature of bandgaps is direct for the whole range of x except at x=0.25. We also calculate the bandgap bowing parameter from our accurate bandgaps and resolve the existing controversy in this parameter

Stentless pyeloplasty for ureteropelvic junction obstruction in children

Introduction Stenting after pyeloplasty is an established practice and helps in  ensuring a patent anastomosis until healing has completed. Stents, however, may cause complications such as infection and displacement and increase the cost of management; therefore, stentless pyeloplasty is now considered as feasible  alternative.Patients and methods From August 2008 to October 2010, we retrospectively analyzed the results of stentless surgery in patients with ureteropelvic junction  (UPJ) obstruction. In all, 42 patients with UPJ obstruction were managed. Nine patients who were treated conservatively, one who underwent nephrectomy, and one pyelostomy for pyonephrosis in solitary kidney were excluded. Age range at surgery was 14 days–12 years with a mean age of 12.7 months. Results There were 23 male patients and eight female patients with a male-to-female ratio of 3 : 1. Fourteen patients had left, 12 right, and five had bilateral UPJ obstruction. A total of 34 pyeloplasties were performed in 31 patients. Of the five patients with bilateral UPJ obstruction, three underwent bilateral pyeloplasty and remaining two underwent unilateral pyeloplasty with conservative management on the opposite sides. Two patients underwent laparoscopic pyeloplasties and32 pyeloplasties by open technique. Double J stent was placed at initial surgery in three patients and 31 stentless pyeloplasties were performed. The mean operative time was 75 min. The mean perinephric drain removal time was 2 days. None of the patients had persistent urinary leak. The mean hospital stay was 3.2 days. Reduction in anteroposterior diameter was noticed in 91% cases on 12 weeks  follow-up scan. Complications included persistent or increase in hydronephrosis in three (9%) patients. In all the three patients, cystoscopic stenting was attempted. In two patients, size 4 Fr double J stent was passed easily into the renal pelvis. Onepatient improved, whereas other still has a dilated pelvis with static anteroposterior diameter after removal of stent at 6 weeks; patient is kept on close surveillance on regular ultrasonography. Re-exploration was performed in one patient, which showed kinking at the anastomosis site. Pyeloplasty was revised and patient improved. Other complications included lumbar hernia in one patient, which improved at 6-month follow-up, and stitch granuloma in one patient, which improved after removal of residual stitch. Conclusion Stentless surgery for UPJ obstruction is a safe and feasible technique; it reduces the cost of surgery and avoids multiple procedures. Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop and compare proliposome powder and proliposome tablet formulations for drug delivery from a Pari-LC Sprint nebulizer. Methods: Proliposome powders were prepared by the slurry method and sorbitol or mannitol carbohydrate carrier were used in a 1:10 and 1:15 w/w lipid phase to carrier ratio. Beclometasone dipropionate (BDP; 2 mol%) was incorporated in the lipid phase. Proliposome powders were compressed into tablets, and liposomes were generated from proliposome powders or tablets within the nebulizer reservoir for subsequent aerosolization. Results: Comparatively, shorter sputtering times were reported for the tablet formulations (≈ < 2.7±0.45 min), indicating uniform aerosolization. Post-nebulization, liposomes size was larger in the nebulizer reservoir in the range of 7.79±0.48 µm–9.73±1.53 µm for both powder and tablet formulations as compared to freshly prepared liposomes (5.38±0.73 µm–5.85±0.86 µm), suggesting liposome aggregation/fusion in the nebulizer’s reservoir. All formulations exhibited more than 80% mass output regardless of formulation type, but greater BDP proportions (circa 50%) were delivered to the Two-stage Impinger when tablet formulations were used. Moreover, the nebulized droplet median size and size distribution were lower for all tablet formulations in comparison to the powder formulations. Proliposome tablet and powdered formulations demonstrated the ability to generate vesicles that sustained the release of BDP. Conclusion: Overall, this study showed that proliposome tablets could be disintegrated within a Pari-LC Sprint nebulizer to generate inhalable aerosol, with high drug output and hence can be manufactured on large scale to overcome the storage problems associated with powder formulations

The main purpose of this study is to explore the different platform that influence the client to become social. Our project (GO-tickets) is more easy way to book /buy ticket for all categories of events which is held in our town which includes the movie, festivals, holiday tour, events, sports and much more. This project is based on Cloud computing and we implement the digitalized concept of ticket marketing in which person can buy tickets in digital form and use single platform for all types of events booking. We used angular JS, ionic for a front end and node.js, express.js for a back end and mongo DB for a database. Our application works on both OS platform (IOS and android). Our proposed system is totally softcopy and in digitalized. The project has been successfully in the developing process and the system performance is found satisfactory. The use of computers in this technology era is nonproductive tasks to helps the users to reduce the time and wait. User-friendly menu interface the users can then use the services of the application via to fill a registration form can register themselves for book the tickets. This research paper of Go-Ticket application deals with the modern technology development of mobile phone application which is more simple effective, easy way to use and we also introduce QR scanning bar code reader that contain information about ticket in the form of bar-code. Moreover, the authentication of the ticket is checking by another person through QR scanning bar code reader which verify, QR-code detail information with the database and reduces the burden of event manager

Macroscopic Traffic Flow Characterization at Bottlenecks

    Get PDF
Traffic congestion is a significant issue in urban areas. Realistic traffic flow models are crucial for understanding and mitigating congestion. Congestion occurs at bottlenecks where large changes in density occur. In this paper, a traffic flow model is proposed which characterizes traffic at the egress and ingress to bottlenecks. This model is based on driver response which includes driver reaction and traffic stimuli. Driver reaction is based on time headway and driver behavior which can be classified as sluggish, typical or aggressive. Traffic stimuli are affected by the transition width and changes in the equilibrium velocity distribution. The explicit upwind difference scheme is used to evaluate the Lighthill, Whitham, and Richards (LWR) and proposed models with a continuous injection of traffic into the system. A stability analysis of these models is given and both are evaluated over a road of length 10 km which has a bottleneck. The results obtained show that the behavior with the proposed model is more realistic than with the LWR model. This is because the LWR model cannot adequately characterize driver behavior during changes in traffic flow
