Studies on properties and estimation problems for modified extension of exponential distribution
The present paper considers modified extension of the exponential
distribution with three parameters. We study the main properties of this new
distribution, with special emphasis on its median, mode and moments function
and some characteristics related to reliability studies. For Modified-
extension exponential distribution (MEXED) we have obtained the Bayes
Estimators of scale and shape parameters using Lindley's approximation
(L-approximation) under squared error loss function. But, through this
approximation technique it is not possible to compute the interval estimates of
the parameters. Therefore, we also propose Gibbs sampling method to generate
sample from the posterior distribution. On the basis of generated posterior
sample we computed the Bayes estimates of the unknown parameters and
constructed 95 % highest posterior density credible intervals. A Monte Carlo
simulation study is carried out to compare the performance of Bayes estimators
with the corresponding classical estimators in terms of their simulated risk. A
real data set has been considered for illustrative purpose of the study.Comment: 22,
The Effect of Word of Mouth on Sales: Online Book Reviews
We examine the effect of consumer reviews on relative sales of books on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. We find that 1) reviews are overwhelmingly positive at both sites, but there are more reviews and longer reviews at Amazon.com, 2) an improvement in a book's reviews leads to an increase in relative sales at that site, and 3) the impact of 1-star reviews is greater than the impact of 5-star reviews. The results suggest that new forms of customer communication on the Internet have an important impact on customer behavior.
Raja Bandung Banana (Musa ParadisiacaL.cv Raja Bandung) Prevents Increased Systolic Blood Pressure in Rats Given Acute Stress Test
The relationships between stress and hypertension have been evaluated. Heightened blood pressure (BP) reactions to acute stress have been implicated in cardiovascular disease\u27s development. Consumption of fruit or vegetables lowering BP. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Raja Bandung Banana (Musa paradisiacaL. cv Raja Bandung) on blood pressure after acute restraint stress and forced swim test.Twenty male Sprague dawley rats were divided into 4 groups (A,B,C,D) and adapted for 3 days. At 4th day, groups were administered 2 g/200gBw AIN-93M, then exposed to acute restraint (1hour), except group A. After restraint, A&B received water, C received diazepam 0,5mg/kgBW, and D received banana 2,52 g/200gBW. One hour later, the forced swim test was carried out (45 minutes). Blood pressure was measured 1 hour after swim. Result showed, mean of blood pressure significantly increased after treatment (p<0,01) all groups. But, the increasing of blood pressure in C and D group was lower than unrestraint (A) and control (B) group. There was significant difference of blood pressure between control (A&B) and intervention group (C&D), but no significant difference between C and D. Thisresults indicate that Raja Bandung Banana can prevent increased blood pressure on acute stress condition as effective as diazepam
Pengaruh Penerapan Pembelajaran E-learning terhadap Kemandirian dan Minat Belajar Mahasiswa pada Mata Kuliah Wawasan dan Kajian Mipa
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the implementation of e-learning to the students' independence and interests in Science insight and Study Course. The used method was experimental post-test only control group design by questionnaire sheets. The subjects were Chemistry Education students year 2015. The results of the hypothesis-test showed that there are no significant differences of independence and interest in both of groups. However, the results of descriptive data analysis showed that the average students' independence and interest in the experimental was higher than the control group. The experimental group mean of 3.67 (good), while the control group average of 3.48 which are at the same category. Average students' interest in the experimental group of 4.21 (very good), while the average in the control group at 4.08 (good). In addition, based on the questionnaire of students' responses toward e-learning obtained mean of 4.51 (very good)
IMPACT OF ELECTRIC POWER SECTOR REFORMS ON FARM INCOMES IN INDIA
The supply of electricity to the agricultural sector (largely for pumping groundwater) is heavily subsidized in India. Using data from a household survey in the state of Haryana, a profit function estimated to analyze the impact of increase in tariffs accompanied by improvement in conditions of supply on farm incomes.Agricultural Finance, Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,
Multiple QTL for horticultural traits and quantitative resistance to Phytophthora infestans linked on Solanum habrochaites chromosome 11.
Previously, a Phytophthora infestans resistance QTL from Solanum habrochaites chromosome 11 was introgressed into cultivated tomato (S. lycopersicum). Fine mapping of this resistance QTL using near-isogenic lines (NILs) revealed some co-located QTL with undesirable effects on plant size, canopy density, and fruit size traits. Subsequently, higher-resolution mapping with sub-NILs detected multiple P. infestans resistance QTL within this 9.4-cM region of chromosome 11. In our present study, these same sub-NILs were also evaluated for 17 horticultural traits, including yield, maturity, fruit size and shape, fruit quality, and plant architecture traits in replicated field experiments over 2 years. The horticultural trait QTL originally detected by fine mapping each fractionated into two or more QTL at higher resolution. A total of 34 QTL were detected across all traits, with 14% exhibiting significant QTL Ă— environment interactions (QTL Ă— E). QTL for many traits were co-located, suggesting either pleiotropic effects or tight linkage among genes controlling these traits. Recombination in the pericentromeric region of the introgression between markers TG147 and At4g10050 was suppressed to approximately 29.7 Mbp per cM, relative to the genomewide average of 750 kbp per cM. The genetic architecture of many of the horticultural and P. infestans resistance traits that mapped within this chromosome 11 S. habrochaites region is complex. Complicating factors included fractionation of QTL, pleiotropy or tight linkage of QTL for multiple traits, pericentromeric chromosomal location(s), and/or QTL Ă— E. High-resolution mapping of QTL in this region would be needed to determine which specific target QTL could be useful in breeding cultivated tomato

Mercantilism and cameralism in the reforms of Peter The Great through the lens of naval finance and accounting (1681-1725)
In the 18th century, the doctrine of mercantilism-cameralism penetrated Russia and became the basis for the concept of state accounting, which was implemented in the Admiralty Regulation (1722), the first Russian accounting law. The Admiralty Regulation is a unique testimony to the earliest experience of the adoption of economic ideology and Western accounting style in Russia. It brought to Russian accounting an understanding of the importance of accounting procedures, budgeting and state control. The aim of this study is to show how the economic doctrine of the time influenced accounting, while also investigating whether accounting can serve as a gauge of the success of the doctrine and reform in general. Another research question is what it means for Russian accounting that the first accounting rules were developed for military purposes
