A simplistic method of topic identification is proposed. The topic index is calculated as a real number, and can be used for comparing with a threshold when validating the topic identity of the content. The approach is based on the assumption of having a set of characteristic words for the estimated topic and yields a simple implementation which is suitable both for the tasks where the high precision is not required and for solving more complex problems, where it can be used in the context of preliminary topic evaluation in a multi-level topic identification process.

Author's term: what is it? / defining the concept "author's term"

In the article the researchers state that in contemporary Russian terminology there is no concept “author's term” and no author’s term definition. Traditionally it has been accepted that the author's term is a term with a reliably known authorship, or a term named after the discoverer of a scientific phenomenon. The researchers consider this approach to be erroneous and suggest that the author's term exists only within the author’s original scientific hypothesis. As this hypothesis is described by the system of interrelated concepts and terms, so there is no isolated author’s term. The researchers offer their own definition of the author's term. The author’s term is a special sign created within the framework of a unique scientific theory, an element of the system of concepts interconnected with other terms and concepts of original hypothesis, referred by the speakers of the language for specific purposes to a specific author's idea, representing scientific picture of the world which is not generally accepted

Using the mineral component of building refuse in heavy metals sorption from their mixture

The sorption properties of the sand-breakstone mixture based on the mineral component of building refuse of the 0-10 mm fraction with respect to Pb2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ ions were studied using atomic absorption spectroscopy. The mechanisms of accumulation of heavy metal ions on the surface of the mixture particles are described. It was found that after washing the contaminated material distilled water, the residual concentration of metals in the filtrate does not exceed the established sanitary and hygienic standards. The practical value of the work lies in the possibility of applying the results in reclamation of technogenic formations or production of materials for the technical stage of reclamation using technogenic soils

Risks and Dangers of New Information and Communication Technologies

The article describes the possible dangerous consequences of the introduction of new information and communication technologies, namely the destruction of conventional roles, of shared mental models due to the distortion of information and its context, the destruction of rutin interactions. The rapid development of science and technology in the late twentieth century led to the emergence of new information and communication technologies (ICT). In this regard, change the forms of communication and the relations between economic agents. This is particularly expressed in the change of conventional roles and common mental models. The possible negative consequences of the application of new ICT are discussed in the article, namely the increase in the probability of inaccuracies and errors in communications, the appearance of a gap in the senses or mutual understanding between the sending and receiving parties due to incorrect context transfer. The rapid change in the conditions of communications, its methods, increasing the share of verbal information leads to the destruction of the pre-rational basis of mutual understanding of people, and consequently to the restriction of economic growth according to G.V. Grebennikov. The solution of emerging problems is seen in the preservation of the traditional notion of communications (their goals, tasks, place in the relationship); determine their some necessary number and type. The preservation of common mental models depends on the preservation of their essential part – common values. We see that the Orthodox faith offers a person a higher ideal and values corresponding to him, as well as a way to achieve it, which can be tested by experience

Changes of gas metabolism, gas homeostasis and tissue respiration in rats during prolonged hypokinesia

The oxygen uptake and tissue gas homeostasis of restrained albinic rats remained relatively constant during a 60 day experiment. The gas metabolism in some tissues changed, and O2 consumption increased in the liver and decreased in the myocardium. Capacity for physical work was reduced by five times. Hypokinesia for 60 days resulted in a delay in the animals growth

Nuclear import of HIV‐1 intracellular reverse transcription complexes is mediated by importin 7.

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV‐1), like other lentiviruses, can infect non‐dividing cells. This property depends on the active nuclear import of its intracellular reverse transcription complex (RTC). We have studied nuclear import of purified HIV‐1 RTCs in primary macrophages and found that importin 7, an import receptor for ribosomal proteins and histone H1, is involved in the process. Nuclear import of RTCs requires, in addition, energy and the com ponents of the Ran system. Depletion of importin 7 from cultured cells by small interfering RNA inhibits HIV‐1 infection. These results provide a new insight into the molecular mechanism for HIV‐1 nuclear import and reveal potential targets for therapeutic intervention
