The article reveals the correlation of terminal (development of abilities, need for knowledge, general culture) and instrumental (diploma, opportunity to make a career, prestige) meanings of education. It based on a comparative analysis of the ideas of higher education among students and other groups of young people in education. The methodological basis of the study is the concept of self-regulation of the life of young people. An analysis of the connections between the terminal and instrumental meanings of education and other elements of the socio-cultural mechanism of self-regulation of life activity (archetypes, mental traits, value orientations towards knowledge, habitual attitudes, subcultural meanings), belonging to the basic types of cultures made it possible to determine the trends in attitudes towards education of student and student youth. The tendency to instrumentalize the value attitude to the education of university students and young people in general is stable. It was revealed that the meanings of education correlate less significantly with archetypes and mentality. Subcultural meanings as properties of a generation, containing various kinds of “activities” and elements of demonstrative behavior, have significant connections with the instrumental meanings of education and, on the contrary, in some cases their denial – with the terminal ones. A similar paradoxical relationship between the terminal and instrumental meanings of the education of student youth is also recorded in correlations with the denial of belonging to the innovative and spiritual types of basic culture, which significantly distinguishes it from student youth. As sociocultural factors in the formation of ideas about the meanings of education of student youth, the type of settlement, the level of income, the level of education of parents are singled out. Ideas about the meanings of education of university students are considered in relation to the institutional regulation of higher education. It is concluded that the steady trend of instrumentalizing the attitude of student youth to education is consistent with such a direction of purposeful regulation of higher education as the practice orientation of educational programs. Education is understood as a means of increasing the manageability of one’s life, which means increasing the level of social certainty.</p

The case study research strategy describes variations in the educational and professional trajectories of part-time students in comparison with their attitude to distance learning, the goal of higher education, and their professional future of the individual. This research strategy makes it possible to present distance learning as a modern educational trend. It has been determined that in the system of continuing education, distance learning is (1) a tool for changing a profession, (2) part of a well-thought-out career strategy, (3) a guarantee of employment, (4) a way to legitimize a professional status, (5) a form that facilitates obtaining a diploma of higher education, (6) “future education”, education for the future. The subjective meanings of distance education in connection with motivation, the purpose of training, the attitude of students to it are revealed. For students receiving higher education, this is “self-education,” for those whose goal is a diploma, it is “formality”, “superficial mastering of disciplines.” The authors conclude that the consideration of correspondence education in the context of continuity allows us to identify trends in individualization, diversification (the diversity and variability of educational programs, creating opportunities for choice), informatization, and individualization. An assessment of the prospects for extramural higher education based on the experience of forced distance learning (March-June 2020) is given

Digitalization of society: implications and perspectives in the context of the psycho-dimensionality of social reality / psychosynertics

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article is to analyze the process of «digitalization» of modern society from the point of view of psychosynergistic approach, psycho-dimensionality of social reality as subjective association of people. The concept of «digitalization» is used mainly in scientific and philosophical publications where it is presented as a modern «world trend». The concept of «digitization» is associated with profound changes in the social life of a modern person who in the near future will be in a fully digital world where every aspect of his life will be deeply influenced by digital data: how people will communicate and relate to each other; how they will work, learn, stay healthy and participate in politics and the economy. The introduction of digital technologies promises, on the one hand, enormous benefits for better health, more efficient social mobility, more efficient use of energy, more business and more prosperous companies, etc. But it is also obvious that such a fundamental social transformation will have certain complexities of an individual, intra-psychic nature, i.e. that unexpected challenges and problems that did not exist before have already arisen and may arise further. The main theoretical base of the research are scientific and philosophical publications devoted to the problem of «digitization» and its influence on social life in English and Ukrainian languages. In the works of Ukrainian researchers, attention is mainly paid to economic and technological aspects of «digitalization», but we propose to solve this problem with transdisciplinary approach in which the efforts of scientists from different fields of knowledge (humanities, doctors, psychologists, representatives of computer sciences, etc.) will find general recommendations and regulations, which will help to adapt the person in new social conditions «digital society». One such transdisciplinary area could be psychosynergetics, as a post-non-classical area of knowledge that implements synergistic and other ideas. &nbsp

    Get PDF
The paper presents a linguistic image of Russia as shown by the US printed media. The study was conducted with two interrelated and complementary methods: that of describing associative semantic field and that of investigating qualia-structure of the concept, based on the generative lexicon theory by J. Pusteiovsky. Both methods resulted in building a layered concept structure with a core, a transition zone and periphery. For the purpose of the study, a corpus containing 3636 collocates with "Russia" as the key word was derived from headline complexes of US printed media: The Washington post and the New York Times. The analysis of the structure and composition of the associative semantic field has enabled the author to confirm significant influence of extralinguistic factors on the construction of linguistic images. The study involved processing previously made corpus with corpus management software to provide numeric data on lexemes frequency. Associative semantic field revealed the newsworthy events that put Russia in focus in headlines complexes: President Election of 2016 and investigation of Russia's supposed involvement, intelligence services and related causes celebre, sanctions, armed conflicts, coronavirus spread and oil prices fluctuations. Qualia-structure semantic analysis brought forth the main frames in the Russia concept structure: Russia as an aggressive power, Russia as a counterpart, Russia as a partner, and Russia as a destination
