Generative dramaturgy : a strategy for refocusing directorial intent in the translation phase of play development
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 36-40).This explication focuses on the director working collaboratively in the ensemble towards generating new material inspired by the play text in the staging of the play. The strategy employed to achieve this efect is referred to as a generative dramaturgy. The aim is to foster co-ownership in the actors of teh ensemble by developing their natural and instinctive responses during the translation phase. I specifically look at the South Africa theatre context which neither works in a culturally homogenous environment nor performs to a culturally homogenous audience, and where multicultural theatre is a familiar theatre practice
Compact storage ring to search for the muon electric dipole moment
We present the concept of a compact storage ring of less than 0.5 m orbit
radius to search for the electric dipole moment of the muon () by
adapting the "frozen spin" method. At existing muon facilities a statistics
limited sensitivity of d_\mu \sim 5 \times 10^{-23} \ecm can be achieved
within one year of data taking. Reaching this precision would demonstrate the
viability of this novel technique to directly search for charged particle EDMs
and already test a number of Standard Model extensions. At a future, high-power
muon facility a statistical reach of d_\mu \sim 5 \times 10^{-25} \ecm seems
realistic with this setup.Comment: improved for submission; minor modification
Spatial confinement of muonium atoms
We report the achievement of spatial confinement of muonium atoms (the bound
state of a positive muon and an electron). Muonium emitted into vacuum from
mesoporous silica reflects between two SiO confining surfaces separated by
1 mm. From the data, one can extract that the reflection probability on the
confining surfaces kept at 100 K is about 90% and the reflection process is
well described by a cosine law. This technique enables new experiments with
this exotic atomic system and is a very important step towards a measurement of
the 1S-2S transition frequency using continuous wave laser spectroscopy.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figure
Thin-disk laser pump schemes for large number of passes and moderate pump source quality
Novel thin-disk laser pump layouts are proposed yielding an increased number
of passes for a given pump module size and pump source quality. These novel
layouts result from a general scheme which bases on merging two simpler pump
optics arrangements. Some peculiar examples can be realized by adapting
standard commercially available pump optics simply by intro ducing an
additional mirror-pair. More pump passes yield better efficiency, opening the
way for usage of active materials with low absorption. In a standard multi-pass
pump design, scaling of the number of beam passes brings ab out an increase of
the overall size of the optical arrangement or an increase of the pump source
quality requirements. Such increases are minimized in our scheme, making them

Effect of enzyme and inoculant additives on preservation and feeding value of wheat and forage sorghum silages
Enzyme and inoculant additives produced more efficiently preserved wheat and
forage sorghum silages and improved their feeding value. In general, treated silages
had lower pH, acetic acid, and ammonia-nitrogen values and higher lactic acid and
lactic to acetic acid ratios than untreated silages. In two of the three trials, cell
wall and acid detergent fiber fractions were lower in treated than untreated silages.
In Trial 2, the treated sorghum silages were extremely unstable in air and cattle
performance was similar for control and treated silages. In Trial 3, gains and feed
conversions in steers were improved for those fed treated forage sorghum silages
