Visual Counting of Traffic Flow from a Car via Vehicle Detection and Motion Analysis

    Get PDF
Visual traffic counting so far has been carried out by static cameras at streets or aerial pictures from sky. This work initiates a new approach to count traffic flow by using populated vehicle driving recorders. Mainly vehicles are counted by a camera moves along a route on opposite lane. Vehicle detection is first implemented in video frames by using deep learning YOLO3, and then vehicle trajectories are counted in the spatial-temporal space called motion profile. Motion continuity, direction, and detection missing are considered to avoid multiple counting of oncoming vehicles. This method has been tested on naturalistic driving videos lasting for hours. The counted vehicle numbers can be interpolated as a flow of opposite lanes from a patrol vehicle for traffic control. The mobile counting of traffic is more flexible than the traffic monitoring by cameras at street corners

Inhibiting the gastric burst release of drugs from enteric microparticles: the influence of drug molecular mass and solubility.

Undesired drug release in acid medium from enteric microparticles has been widely reported. In this paper, we investigate the relative contribution of microparticle and drug properties, specifically microsphere size and drug's molecular weight and acid solubility, on the extent of such undesired release. A series of nine drugs with different physicochemical properties were successfully encapsulated into Eudragit S and Eudragit L microparticles using a novel emulsion solvent evaporation process. The process yielded spherical microparticles with a narrow size distribution (27-60 and 36-56 µm for Eudragit L and Eudragit S microparticles, respectively). Upon incubation in acid medium (pH 1.2) for 2 h, the release of dipyridamole, cinnarizine, amprenavir, bendroflumethiazide, budesonide and prednisolone from both Eudragit microparticles was less than 10% of drug load and conformed with the USP specifications for enteric dosage forms. In contrast, more than 10% of the entrapped paracetamol, salicylic acid and ketoprofen were released. Multiple regression revealed that the drug's molecular weight was the most important factor that determined its extent of release in the acid medium, while its acid solubility and microsphere's size had minor influences

    Test of 6-kVA three-phase flux transfer-type current-limiting transformer

A 6-kVA three-phase model of the flux transfer-type current-limiting transformer was developed and tested. In this device, the winding loops of YBCO superconducting tapes couple magnetically two independent iron cores: the primary-side iron core and the secondary-side iron core. The former and the latter are equipped with copper primary and secondary windings, respectively. Because the magnetic fluxes linked to the superconducting winding loops must be kept constant, the magnetic flux is transferred by the superconducting YBCO loops between the two iron cores in order to couple magnetically the primary and secondary coils. While the YBCO loops are superconducting, 100% of the magnetic flux is transferred and the device shows the similar function as usual transformers. Once the YBCO loops become normal by a fault current in any of the windings, the power transfer between two iron cores is limited and the current in the secondary winding is limited naturally on a result of decoupling the iron cores

of the infection risk for flexible ureterorenoscopy

Objectives To investigate the operation time (OT) and ureteral access sheath (UAS) usage with the infection rates and to determine a cut-off value for OT.Methods We retrospectively analysed the data of the patients who underwent flexible ureterorenoscopy (FURS) for renal stones larger than 20 mm between 2010 and 2019. The investigated parameters were OT, UAS using, and infection status. The data were analysed by forming two groups according to whether the OT was less than 60 minutes and more, whether the UAS was used and whether an infection occurred. In addition, independent risk factors that may affect postoperative urinary infection development were also investigated by logistic regression analysis. And, a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was applied to determine a cut-off value in OT terms, where infection rates increase more. Results A total of 575 patients were enrolled in the study. The rates of the usage of UAS and infection were greater statistically in the group for longer than 60 minutes. OT was longer statistically in the infection group than in the group without infection (94.1 +/- 14.2 and 68.01 +/- 23.1, for groups 1 and 2, respectively, P < .05, Table 2). OT was statistically longer in the UAS group than the unused one (79.3 +/- 24.4 and 66.7 +/- 22.4, for groups 1 and 2, respectively, P < .05, Table 3). ROC analyses revealed a cut-off point of 87.5 min for OT in terms of infection rate. Conclusion While the infection risk increases when OT exceeds 60 minutes, FURS can be safely performed up to 87.5 minutes with 89% sensitivity and 69% specificity infection risk.C1 [Gunseren, Kadir Omur; Cicek, Mehmet Cagatay; Kilicarslan, Hakan] Uluda Univ, Fac Med, Urol Dept, Bursa, Turkey.[Demir, Aslan] Bezmialem Vakif Univ, Fac Med, Urol Dept, Istanbul, Turkey.[Celen, Sinan] Pamukkale Univ, Fac Med, Urol Dept, Denizli, Turkey
