However, there has been limited utilization of these methods to discriminate between populations of the same taxa to challenge and refine other key archaeological issues, such as migration and connectivity in prehistory. Presented here is a novel application of a three-dimensional landmark based geometric morphometric approach to address the nature of long distance trade and connectivity on the prehistoric Silk Road. The similarity of Bronze and Iron Age archaeological cultures along this steppe route has encouraged characterisations of these people as nomads, with highly mobile, integrated, and connected human and animal populations. However, the interconnectedness of domestic animal populations, in particular sheep (Ovis aries), the foundation of this prehistoric pastoral economy, has never been examined. This study utilized geometric morphometric methods to quantify geometric morphometric variance of O. aries astragali between three geographically disparate settlement sites within a single Final Bronze age cultural and chronological context. Significant differences between morphotypes revealed that protracted mobility patterns were unlikely and that while animal exchange may have occurred, it was not pervasive enough to produce a uniform sheep morphotype across central and southeastern Kazakhstan. The result of this new application of geometric morphometric methods challenges models of uniform and undifferentiated long distance mobility and economic connectivity between the peoples of the Silk Road.Fulbright scholarshipFrances Mary Hazen fellowshi

The influence of the epitaxial layer features and so silicon-sapphire interface in SOS-structures on capacitance parameters of MIS-structures formed on SOS with submicron silicon layers were investigated in this article. Both standard SOS-structures with 0.3 μk silicon n-type layer and analog SOS-structures with the blastic silicon layer amorphizated by the oxygen ion implantation with following high-temperature annealing. The two different types of test MIS-structures with 30 nm gate oxide, polysilicon gate and metallic contacts were fabricated. The strong difference in the capacitance characteristics for standard SOS and SOS with recrystallization silicon layer was disclosed in depletion region. It was revealed the strong frequency dependence of capacitance characteristics for the test MIS-structures formed on almost all SOS-structures. It was shown that the character of the test structures C—V-curves were defined by dimension and configuration of the silicon layer as well as the deep compensate levels concentration in layer near silicon-sapphire interface. Particularly it was shown that big changes of the frequency-capacitance dependences at transition from the tests formed on standard SOS to tests on SOS with blastic silicon layer were determined by great concentration of deep compensate centers in layer near interface for standard SOS. It was shown that the recrystallization of silicon layer by oxygen ion implantation may lead to appearance of the centers, formed donor levels into silicon band gap and appearance of the frequency-capacitance dependences in depletion region of such SOS-structures.

The aim. To study and substantiate the new principles of organization in the provision of cardiac surgical care under martial law. Materials and methods. The article presents an analytical review using reference databases of scientific medical publications and analysis of our own database of cardiac surgical care for the period from 2014 to July 2023. The group of patients consisted of 501 male subjects. The age of the study participants varied from 21 to 58 years (mean age 41.5 ± 2.2 years). The analysis of monitoring results included the most common diseases of the circulatory system, combat injuries of the heart and main vessels. Results. The article pays attention to the current challenges that have arisen before organization of the system of providing cardiac surgical care under martial law. It is emphasized that the area of cardiac surgical assistance to military personnel is being developed at the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of the NAMS of Ukraine since 2014, when the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation began. In cooperation with military doctors, new methods of treatment of patients with gunshot and mine-explosive wounds are being developed and implemented. It was established that among patients with cardiovascular pathology, combat injuries of the heart and main vessels make up 7.9%, which coincides with the frequency of combat injuries of the chest given in literary sources. Moreover, the length of hospital stay of patients with combat injuries of the heart and main vessels does not exceed the number of bed days during surgical treatment of the most common diseases of the circulatory system. It was also established that some of the injured patients had concomitant pathologies that required, in addition to cardiac surgical care, medical care of other specialists: a surgeon, a neurosurgeon, an orthopedic traumatologist, an otolaryngologist, a psychologist, etc. Conclusions. It has been established that organization of the system of providing cardiac surgical care under martial law is primarily designed to ensure: optimization of resources by strengthening the personnel reserve; cooperation with specialists of other specialties, medical institutions of various subordinates and international partners; changing patient routes taking into account, first of all, their safety; expanding narrow specialization of medical institutions by creating multidisciplinary teams

The newly enacted normative document of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation «The Norms of Navy Ships and Boats Provision with Health-Care Stores» was elaborated in the course of modernization of the procedure of setting the norms of health-care stores of military corps (forces). The novel procedure of setting the norms of health-care stores of ships and boats is fully adapted to the present-time navy war-strength and to the personnel arrangement of medical corps at the level of ships and boats. The implementation of the modern norms of health-care stores provision in the practices of military administration and navy ship and boat medical corps will increase the quality and effectiveness of crew health care and the combat readiness of navy personnel.
