Analysis of the quark sector in the 2HDM-III with a four-zero Yukawa texture using the most recent data on the CKM matrix

In this letter we analyse, in the context of the general 2-Higgs Doublet Model, the structure of the Yukawa matrices, $\widetilde{ \bf Y}_{ _{1,2} }^{q}$, by assuming a four-zero texture ansatz for their definition. In this framework, we obtain compact expressions for $\widetilde{ \bf Y}_{ _{1,2} }^{q}$, which are reduced to the Cheng and Sher ansatz with the difference that they are obtained naturally as a direct consequence of the invariants of the fermion mass matrices. Furthermore, in order to avoid large flavour violating effects coming from charged Higgs exchange, we consider the main flavour constraints on the off-diagonal terms of Yukawa texture {{$\left( \widetilde{\chi}_{j}^q \right)_{kl}$}} ($k\neq l$). We perform a $\chi^2$-fit based on current experimental data on the quark masses and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing matrix ${ \bf V}_{\rm CKM }$. Hence, we obtain the allowed ranges for the parameters $\widetilde{ \bf Y}_{ _{1,2} }^{q}$ at 1$\sigma$ for several values of $\tan \beta$. The results are in complete agreement with the bounds obtained taking into account constraints on Flavour Changing Neutral Currents reported in the literature.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figure. Este trabajo da cuenta del proceso que se realizó durante un año, acerca de encontrar los elementos que constituyen a un profesor investigador, como las necesidades, intereses barreras y atributos, para lo cual se realizaron tres estudios de caso a tres profesoras de matemáticas de educación básica y media de Bogotá, realizando observaciones y entrevistas para recolectar información que posteriormente se analizarla y llegar a algunas conclusiones acerca de dichos elementos

Semantic web data warehousing for caGrid

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is developing caGrid as a means for sharing cancer-related data and services. As more data sets become available on caGrid, we need effective ways of accessing and integrating this information. Although the data models exposed on caGrid are semantically well annotated, it is currently up to the caGrid client to infer relationships between the different models and their classes. In this paper, we present a Semantic Web-based data warehouse (Corvus) for creating relationships among caGrid models. This is accomplished through the transformation of semantically-annotated caBIG® Unified Modeling Language (UML) information models into Web Ontology Language (OWL) ontologies that preserve those semantics. We demonstrate the validity of the approach by Semantic Extraction, Transformation and Loading (SETL) of data from two caGrid data sources, caTissue and caArray, as well as alignment and query of those sources in Corvus. We argue that semantic integration is necessary for integration of data from distributed web services and that Corvus is a useful way of accomplishing this. Our approach is generalizable and of broad utility to researchers facing similar integration challenges

Salvador Dalí e a psicanálise: uma relação revistada

Resumen La relación entre el surrealismo y el psicoanálisis tiene su fundamento en el hecho de que tanto Salvador Dalí como André Breton se sintieron fuertemente influenciados por las nuevas comprensiones sobre el psiquismo humano, el arte y la creatividad que se abrían con los escritos de Sigmund Freud. A través de una revisión de literatura, se observa la influencia de la obra psicoanalítica en la vida y obra de Salvador Dalí y su relación con el movimiento psicoanalítico. Se revisan los encuentros en persona entre Dalí y Freud por medio de la correspondencia de la época y los efectos que tienen en cada uno de ellos. Se encontró que la relación de Dalí con el psicoanálisis se ubica en el plano teórico y personal. GUÍAS DE DISEÑO WEB PARA FACILITAR EL ACCESO A LA INFORMACIÓN DESDE TELÉFONOS INTELIGENTES

ResumenActualmente, los usuarios tienen mayor acceso a contenidos web desde sus teléfonos inteligentes y tabletas que desde sus computadoras de escritorio. Este hecho les permite estar comunicados y disponibles en cualquier momento y en cualquier lugar. Sin embargo, cuando el usuario navega en la web móvil, se enfrenta a problemas de visualización debido a que muchos de los contenidos web no están adaptados para consultarse en este tipo de dispositivos y aquellos contenidos que si lo están, inciden en problemas de usabilidad.Tomando como base esta problemática, en el presente trabajo se plantea la necesidad de generar guías de diseño web que orienten la adaptación de contenidos usables para los usuarios de teléfonos inteligentes. Comprensión de gráficos estadísticos en estudiantes de grado 4° en torno al álbum del mundial de Rusia 2018

Esta es una experiencia de aula, implementada con estudiantes de grado cuarto en el Colegio Gimnasio Los Andes durante el año 2018, que se desarrolla bajo el enfoque pedagógico de enseñanza para la comprensión (EPC). La unidad didáctica surge en torno al tema generativo “RUSSIA 2018: gustos e intereses”. Resalta la importancia de la interpretación de la información presentada en el álbum del mundial Rusia 2018, con el fin de propiciar en los estudiantes la reflexión y el pensamiento crítico ante situaciones comunes de su contexto que puedan estimular la comprensión de los gráficos estadísticos desde su cotidianidad. Las conclusiones que presentamos derivan de un ejercicio colaborativo entre pares y están sujetas a un proceso de valoración continua propio del enfoque pedagógico en el que se encuentra inmersa la propuesta

Structural basis for inhibition of the histone chaperone activity of SET/TAF-Iß by cytochrome c

Chromatin is pivotal for regulation of the DNA damage process insofar as it influences access to DNA and serves as a DNA repair docking site. Recent works identify histone chaperones as key re- gulators of damaged chromatin’s transcriptional activity. However, understanding how chaperones are modulated during DNA damage response is still challenging. This study reveals that the histone chap- erone SET/TAF-Iß interacts with cytochrome c following DNA damage. Specifically, cytochrome c is shown to be translocated into cell nuclei upon induction of DNA damage, but not upon stimulation of the death receptor or stress-induced pathways. Cytochrome c was found to competitively hinder binding of SET/TAF-Iß to core histones, thereby locking its histone-binding domains and inhibiting its nucle- osome assembly activity. In addition, we have used NMR spectros- copy, calorimetry, mutagenesis, and molecular docking to provide an insight into the structural features of the formation of the complex between cytochrome c and SET/TAF-Iß. Overall, these findings estab- lish a framework for understanding the molecular basis of cyto- chrome c-mediated blocking of SET/TAF-Iß, which subsequently may facilitate the development of new drugs to silence the oncogenic effect of SET/TAF-Iß’s histone chaperone activity

Review of Current Developments on High Strength Pipeline Steels for HIC Inducing Service

Nowadays, an increasing number of oil and gas transmission pipes are constructed with high-strength low alloy steels (HSLA); however, many of these pipelines suffer from different types of hydrogen damages, such as hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC). So many research efforts are being carried out to reduce the detrimental effects of hydrogen damage in HSLA steel pipes. The thermomechanical control process (TMCP) is a microstructural control technique that is able to eliminate the conventional heat treatment after hot rolling. Recent research demonstrated that TMCP provides high HIC resistance without adding high amounts of alloying elements or expensive heat treatments. However, once these HSLA steel pipes are put into service, they experience HIC damage, and the prediction of its kinetics is a necessary condition to perform Fitness-For-Service assessments. To develop a reliable predictive model for the kinetics of HIC, the relations among the microstructural features, environmental parameters, and mechanical properties have to be fully understood. This paper presents a review of the key metallurgical and processing factors to develop HSLA steel pipes, as well as a review of the phenomenological and empirical models of HIC kinetics in order to identify specific research directions for further investigations aimed to establish a reliable and sound model of HIC kinetics. &nbsp

“To be myself again”: Perceived benefits of group-based exercise for colorectal cancer patients.

Purpose: To explore the perceived benefits of a group-based exercise program for patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Methods: In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with all participants (n = 25) at the end of the exercise program (patients, relatives and healthcare professionals). The exercise instructor in charge of the exercise program with CRC patients also collected observational field notes throughout a research diary. Results: Three main themes related to exercise as a coping strategy were obtained: (a) physical recovery; (b) psychosocial well-being, and (c) reconnection with their embodied selves and normal lives. Physical recovery included a perceived increase in fitness and a reduction in physical side-effects. Psychosocial well-being included perceived benefits in self-confidence, sense of control, reduced fear, feeling of being useful, sense of achievement, positive thinking and avoiding depression. All the physical and psychosocial benefits helped patients reconnect with their embodied selves, engage in activities practised before the diagnoses, improve their body image, avoid stigma, and increase their social life beyond cancer diagnoses. In this sense, some patients held on to their past selves, trying to keep or recover normality in their lives, while others acknowledged that they might not be the same person anymore, with exercise being part of this new identity. Conclusions: This study shows that exercise is a coping strategy that benefitted CRC patients in several ways related to their physical and psychosocial quality of life
