Complete description of polarization effects in e^+e^- pair production by a photon in the field of a strong laser wave
We consider production of a e^+e^- pair by a high-energy photon in the field
of a strong laser wave. A probability of this process for circularly or
linearly polarized laser photons and for arbitrary polarization of all other
particles is calculated. We obtain the complete set of functions which describe
such a probability in a compact invariant form. Besides, we discuss in some
detail the polarization effects in the kinematics relevant to the problem of
electron-photon conversion at photon-photon and electron-photon colliders.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure

Microwave traps for cold polar molecules
We discuss the possibility of trapping polar molecules in the standing-wave
electromagnetic field of a microwave resonant cavity. Such a trap has several
novel features that make it very attractive for the development of ultracold
molecule sources. Using commonly available technologies, microwave traps can be
built with large depth (up to several Kelvin) and acceptance volume (up to
several cm^3), suitable for efficient loading with currently available sources
of cold polar molecules. Unlike most previous traps for molecules, this
technology can be used to confine the strong-field seeking absolute ground
state of the molecule, in a free-space maximum of the microwave electric field.
Such ground state molecules should be immune to inelastic collisional losses.
We calculate elastic collision cross-sections for the trapped molecules, due to
the electrical polarization of the molecules at the trap center, and find that
they are extraordinarily large. Thus, molecules in a microwave trap should be
very amenable to sympathetic and/or evaporative cooling. The combination of
these properties seems to open a clear path to producing large samples of polar
molecules at temperatures much lower than has been possible previously.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
Experimental Dyeing with Tree Chip of Kurogaki (Black Persimmon; Diospyros kaki Thunb.)
Silk changed in color to black purple (Hue5Y3/2) and cotton did in color to yellow brown (Hue10YR4/6-6/6) after dyeing with the tree chip of Kurogaki (black persimmon; Diospyros kaki Thunb.) and blackish fine soil from a field in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan. We studied the chemical composition of both of silk and cotton by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). We investigated the distribution, components, structure, and differentiation of silk and cotton. The data were generated an elemental content map. Specific elements in both materials indicated high Al (10-16%), Si (30-43%), and Fe (13-20%) associated with P (6-15%), S (4-10%), and Sr (5-6%) after dyeing. This method is simple and results in no chemical environmental pollution.Reportdepartmental bulletin pape
