【Purpose】To clarify the collaboration and support among yogo teachers and school social workers (ssws) for solving the health challenges of elementary-school students.【Methods】The subjects were 11 yogo teachers and 12 SSWs (23 subjects total) involved in cases of directly collaborating with and supporting the other (20 cases for yogo teachers and 20 cases for ssws). We conducted semi-structured interviews and analyzed the data using a qualitative descriptive method.【Results】For the cases in which yogo teachers collaborated with SSWs, we found 191 pieces of collaboration data, 43 collaboration subcategories, 13 collaboration categories, and 4 collaboration corecategories. For cases in which SSWs collaborated with school nurses, we found 197 pieces of collaboration data, 40 collaboration subcategories, 11 collaboration categories, and 4 collaboration core categories. The 4 core collaboration categories were [Sharing information with students and family members], [Considering ways to support concerned individuals both in and out of school], [Implementing support using a team approach with yogo teachers as connecting members], and [Evaluating and adjusting support].【Discussion】We learned that yogo teachers and ssws asked each other to acquire information from inside and outside of the school about the situations of students and their families, examined the support method, supported the students and their families in a role-sharing manner, and evaluated and adjusted their support. Regarding the collaborative support of yogo teachers and ssws, we found that a mutual understanding of each other’s expertise should be promoted.textapplication/pdfdepartmental bulletin pape

Objective: To clarify the current situation and problems of the lifestyle, dietary intake, and health consciousness of Brazilian children living in Japan. Methods: A survey using a self-administered questionnaire was conducted on 257 middle and high school students enrolled in Brazilian schools in Japan. Results: 1) As for lifestyle, it was observed that many students had late waking and bedtime hours, as well as late arrival times at school, and spent a lot of time using mobile phones, smartphones, and playing games.2) Regarding dietary intake, it was observed that students had an imbalanced diet with a high frequency of meat consumption, low frequency of fish and seaweed consumption.3)In terms of health consciousness, the awareness of unnecessary snacks was low.4) Regarding study time at home, the majority of students (50%) reported studying for less than 60 minutes, and less than 30% of both middle and high school students reported attending cram schools. Conclusion: Considering the influence of Brazilian food culture on eating habits, lifestyle habits such as late bedtime, and the lack of relationship between health consciousness and health behavior, it is necessary to provide support for a lifestyle that takes into account the busy and unstable home environment of parents. Additionally, factors such as language proficiency, low family economic status, and the difficulty of gaining admission to high school or university may contribute to the low levels of attendance at cram schools and home study time. Therefore, it is necessary to provide support that takes into account these various factors.textapplication/pdfdepartmental bulletin pape

Objective: To clarify the current situation and problems related to the life and health of children attending Brazilian schools in Japan. Methods: Interview survey using semi-structured interview was conducted with 26 teachers working in 8 Brazilian schools in Kanto and Chubu districts, for performing a qualitative and inductive analysis. Results: Participants were educating the children to include their home country and Japan taking into account “the children’s native life culture and education”, were recognized “the health issues of Brazilian school children, which were not much different from Japanese schools”. Conclusion: This study revealed that the children had difficulties in their future career paths due to their lack of Japanese and Portuguese language skills, maladjustment to Japanese culture, and mental instability. It was suggested that it is necessary to provide support for foreign children living in Japan based on their diverse cultural backgrounds.textapplication/pdfdepartmental bulletin pape

application/pdfConcerning the intergarability of almost Kahler manifolds, it is known the conjecture by S.I. Goldberg that a compact almost Kahler manifold is Kahler. In this paper we give a positive partial answer to the conjecture and further introduce the related example constructed by P. Nurowski and M. Przanowski.departmental bulletin pape

Prevalence of Intrinsic Disorder in the Intracellular Region of Human Single-Pass Type I Proteins: The Case of the Notch Ligand Delta-4

    No full text
Intrinsic disorder (ID) is a widespread phenomenon found especially in signaling and regulation-related eukaryotic proteins. The functional importance of flexible disordered regions often resides in their ability to allow proteins to bind different partners. The incidence and location of intrinsic disorder in 369 human single-pass transmembrane receptors with the type I topology was assessed based on both disorder predictions and amino acid physico-chemical properties. We provide evidence that ID concentrates in the receptors’ cytoplasmic region. As a benchmark for this analysis, we present a structural study on the previously uncharacterized intracellular region of human Delta-4 (DLL4_IC), a single-pass transmembrane protein and a ligand of Notch receptors. DLL4_IC is required for receptor/ligand endocytosis; it undergoes regulated intramembrane proteolysis, and mediates protein−protein interactions through its C-terminal PDZ binding motif. Using a recombinant purified protein, we demonstrate using various biophysical methods that DLL4_IC is mainly disordered in solution but can form interconvertible local secondary structures in response to variations in the physico-chemical milieu. Most of these conformational changes occur in the highly conserved C-terminal segment that includes the PDZ-binding motif. On the basis of our results, we propose that global disorder, in concert with local preorganization, may play a role in Notch signaling mediated by Delta-4

Impact of Environmental changes on Infectious Diseases in Myanmar

Like other countries in the world, Myanmar has been facing with health hazards due to environmental factors. Climate changes have great impact on infectious diseases such as vector-borne, water and food borne diseases and also for neglected tropical diseases such as soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH). The studies pointed out that treatment by chemotherapy alone is not suffcient to control these infections. Environmental sanitation, effective vector control programme, installation of safe water supply, sanitary control of sewage disposal, health education for personal hygienic practices are essential for control of these infection not only by Ministry of Health alone but also by others sectors to raise the health status of Myanmar population.othe
