Laser action in ZnO nanoneedles selectively grown on silicon and plastic substrates
An ion-beam technique has been employed to fabricate nanoscale needlelike structures in ZnO thin
films on silicon and plastic substrates at room temperature. The ZnO nanoneedles showed a
single-crystalline wurtzite structure, the stem of which was around 100 nm in diameter. The sharp
tips of the nanoneedles exhibited an apex angle of 20° as measured by transmission electron
microscopy. Room-temperature ultraviolet random lasing action was observed in the ZnO
nanoneedle arrays under 355 nm optical excitation.Published versio
面外ガセット溶接継手の腐食特性と疲労挙動に関する基礎的研究
Corrosion and fatigue are two main factors to determine the durability of steel bridges. In this research, first, in order to investigate the time-dependent corrosion characteristics of the uncoated out-of-plane gusset welded joints, accelerated exposure tests were carried out for a period of five months to fifteen months. The corrosive environmental condition was S6-cycle specified in JIS for painted steel. Fatigue tests were also performed on the weld joints before and after the corrosion tests. It was found that the corroded joints had similar or larger toe radius than the uncorroded ones. The fatigue cracks for the corroded joints initiated from the fillet weld toe or the main plate and then propagated. As a result, the corroded joints had the same or higher fatigue strength than the uncorroded ones when the number of corrosive environmental cycles (S6-cycle) was less than 1800 cycles.journal articl
Odds ratio (CI) for Coronary Heart Disease Associated with Genotypes of the LTA Gene in ISIS and Other Studies Using Recessive and Dominant Models

(A) shows the recessive model and (B) shows the dominant model. Studies are of either the rs909253 SNP (A/G alleles) or the rs1041981 SNP (A/C alleles). The hypothesis-generating study [5] has been excluded from the combined estimates for all other studies that tested the hypothesised association. Size of the squares is proportional to the variance of the log odds ratio, and horizontal lines represent the 99% CIs, and the width of the diamonds represents the 95% CIs. The associations have not been adjusted for age or sex.</p
