アメリカの専門職団体が描く学生担当職員像 - 学生担当職のための優れた実践の原則 -
2007-03本稿では、アメリカの学生担当職の2つの主要な専門職団体が共同開発した『学生担当職のための優れた実践の原則』(以下、『実践の原則』)の開発の経緯と成果を分析することによって、期待される学生担当職員像を明らかにすることを試みた。『実践の原則』は、専門職団体が多様な現場をもつ各大学の学生担当職員の声を反映させて開発した成果である。その中では、学生の学習や発達に積極的に関わる主体としての学生担当職員が、望ましい職員像として提示されており、その理想を実現するための具体的な方法が実践手法リストとしてまとめられている。内容は多様な大学の現場において業務の質を向上させることができるように配慮されて作成されており、また学生の学習という目標に対して学生担当職以外の構成員との連携が強調されている。アメリカの大学における学生担当職員は、学生に対する教育の当事者であることが期待されており、その実践の指針と具体的方法まで専門職団体によって提供されていることが明らかにされた。This paper aims to clarify the roles of student affairs professionals in the U.S. through analyzing the document: "Principles of Good Practice for Student Affairs," which was developed by a collaborative research group of the two leading professional associations in this area, the American College Personnel Association and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. The findings from the analysis can be summarized as follows:- The "Principles" incorporates wide-ranging and in-depth feedback from large number of student affair professionals belonging to those two associations.- Student-learning-oriented student affairs is expressed as a desirable goal in the "Principles." - The "Principles" includes an inventory which consists of means to operationalize the principles for the practice of student affairs professionals. -The "Principles" can be applied in many varied higher education institutions with diverse groups of student and campus cultures. - The "Principles" emphasizes shared responsibility and partnerships for students' learning. Development of High Efficiency Volute Pump of Very Low Specific Speed
application/pdfPump efficiency drops rapidly with a decrease of specific speed ns in the very low ns range, such as ns<70[rpm,m3/min,m],and reciprocating pumps have long been used in this range. The present study is aimed to develop a high efficiency volute pump in the very low n3range,and two kinds of test, the optimization of impeller using 11 impellers and the optimization of volute casing changing volute design parameters, are summarized at ns=60,and new test is added to reveal the flow interference between impeller and volute tongue. The results reveals that the conventional design is not suitable for designing a very low ns volute pump and a new design is presented.conference pape
Characteristics and clustering of human ribosomal protein genes
Background: The ribosome is a central player in the translation system, which in mammals consists of four RNA species and 79 ribosomal proteins (RPs). The control mechanisms of gene expression and the functions of RPs are believed to be identical. Most RP genes have common promoters and were therefore assumed to have a unified gene expression control mechanism.
Results: We systematically analyzed the homogeneity and heterogeneity of RP genes on the basis of their expression profiles, promoter structures, encoded amino acid compositions, and codon compositions. The results revealed that (1) most RP genes are coordinately expressed at the mRNA level, with higher signals in the spleen, lymph node dissection (LND), and fetal brain. However, 17 genes, including the P protein genes (RPLP0, RPLP1, RPLP2), are expressed in a tissue-specific manner. (2) Most promoters have GC boxes and possible binding sites for nuclear respiratory factor 2, Yin and Yang 1, and/or activator protein 1. However, they do not have canonical TATA boxes. (3) Analysis of the amino acid composition of the encoded proteins indicated a high lysine and arginine content. (4) The major RP genes exhibit a characteristic synonymous codon composition with high rates of G or C in the third-codon position and a high content of AAG, CAG, ATC, GAG, CAC, and CTG.
Conclusion: Eleven of the RP genes are still identified as being unique and did not exhibit at least some of the above characteristics, indicating that they may have unknown functions not present in other RP genes. Furthermore, we found sequences conserved between human and mouse genes around the transcription start sites and in the intronic regions. This study suggests certain overall trends and characteristic features of human RP genes
