    Developing English Materials Using ESP Approach for al-Qur’an and Tafsir Study Program Students

    This study aimed at developing English materials using ESP approach for the first semester students of al-Qur’an and Tafsir Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya in academic year 2018/2019. In this study, the model of materials development proposed by Sugiyono (2013:298) was adapted with the following steps: need assessment, reference of the research, development of English materials using ESP approach, expert validation, revision, try-out of the materials, revision, and final product. The instruments used consisted of questionnaire, observation, and interview. The data gathered was analyzed and described qualitatively. The students’ need based on the result of questionnaire was English materials using ESP approach. Considering that result, the English materials using ESP approach were developed and tried in 8 meetings. The data collected from try-out showed that the developed materials were applicable to the teaching-learning process and appropriate with the students’ need. Furthermore, the students responded positively toward the developed materials. They were active, motivated, and enthusiastic in doing the activities of the developed materials. English materials using ESP approach in the form of a textbook divided into eight units were the product of this study. The topics were Prayer, Fasting, Zakat, Muamalat, Food in Islamic Law, Property Right in Islamic Law, Inheritance in Islamic Law, and al-Qur’an and Science. The textbook was also supplemented with a list of vocabularies section, a list of regular verbs section, and a list of irregular verbs section

    Simulation of speed control brushless DC motor using gaussian fuzzy logic controller

    This paper presents a control scheme of a Fuzzy Logic for the brushless direct current (BLDC) motor drives. The BLDC motor has some advantages compare to others type of motors. However, the nonlinearity of this motor drive characteristics cause it is difficult to handle using conventional proportional-integral-differential (PID) controller. In order to overcome this main problem, Fuzzy Logic controller with a Gaussian membership function is developed. The mathematical model of BLDC motor is derived. The controller is designed to tracks variations of speed references and stabilizes the output speed during load variations. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by develop simulation model in Matlab Simulink software. The simulation results show that the proposed Fuzzy Logic controller (FLC) produce significant improvement control performance compare to the PID controller for both condition controlling speed reference variations and load disturbance variations

    Developing a Model of English Listening Materials Using Total Physical Response Method

    This research was intended to develop a model of English listening materials using Total Physical Response method for the fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 8 Menteng Palangka. Research and Development (R&D) was the method used in this research. The procedure of this research consisted of eleven steps adapted from Sugiyono’s model: 1) Distributing questionnaires in need assessment, 2) Analyzing the result of questionnaires, 3) Reference of the research, 4) Developing the model of the materials, 5) Validating the model of the materials, 6) Revising the model of the materials, 7) Trying-out of the model, 8) Distributing questionnaires & interviewing, 9) Analyzing the result of questionnaires & interview, 10) Revising the tried-out model, and 11) Producing the final version of the materials. The data obtained were analyzed and described qualitatively. The final product of this research was a model of English listening materials using Total Physical Response method consisting of two units with the following topics: 1) Things in Classroom, and 2) Parts of Body and Face. Each unit consisted of eight parts. Each part consisted of three commands. Based on the research findings, it could be concluded that the model of the developed materials was appropriate with the students’ needs

    COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES EMPLOYED BY HIGHER EDUCATIONAL STUDENTS IN ORAL PRESENTATION OF DAYAK NGAJU LANGUAGE

    In an oral presentation of a second language, higher education students commonly face some problems in communication. To overcome these problems, communication strategies are necessary to be employed. In the speaking class of the Dayak Ngaju language course, especially in oral presentation in History of Islamic Civilization Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya, the students employed communication strategies to overcome the problems in communication. However, most of the students tended to employ certain types of communication strategies in the oral presentation of the Dayak Ngaju language. Furthermore, there were no research reports which had been published regarding the types of communication strategies employed by the students of Dayak Ngaju language as a second language. Thus this study was intended to describe the types of communication strategies employed by the fifth-semester students of History of Islamic Civilization Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya in oral presentation of Dayak Ngaju language. A descriptive qualitative design was employed in this study. Observation sheets, video recordings, field-notes, and interview guides are the instruments employed in this study. The results of this study showed that the students employed four of five types of communication strategies based on Celce-Murcia’s taxonomy, namely achievement or compensatory strategies, stalling or time-gaining strategies, self-monitoring strategies, and interactional strategies. The most frequent type employed was an achievement or compensatory strategies. Moreover, the most frequent subtype was code-switching.

Selain itu, keindahan Kota juga akan berkurang jika masyarakat membuang sampah tidak pada tempatnya. Karena itu diperlukan komunikasi Persuasif oleh Dinas Lingkungan Hidup untuk menciptakan masyarakat yang sadar akan kebersihan dan keindahan lingkungan

Television is one of the modern media that can be used to preach today. Television has one goal, which is to attract people's attention to the content of the message conveyed. As a medium of communication, television can play its role as an interesting channel to convey messages of kindness to the public. Including religious messages that are commonly called da'wah. The advantages of propaganda through television media do not only depend on the advantages possessed by this media. Likewise for a Preacher who wants to take advantage of television media, he is required to fully understand how to use this media, including determining the methods and techniques of preaching. Because without the proper methods and techniques of da'wah in using television media, it will only waste energy and costs, and will also increase the distance of Da'wah activities with the community.     Stacking Analysis on the Application of the RADEC Model to the Creativity of Fifth Grade Elementary School Students on Water Cycle Material

    This study uses stacking analysis to analyze the application of the RADEC model (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) to students' creativity in the water cycle material. This research is quantitative experimental research. The research subjects were fifth-grade elementary school students for the 2022/2023 school year, totaling 21 students. The research instrument was a creative attitude scale of 22 statements given before and after learning. The data obtained will be processed using the RASCH model through stacking analysis with the Winstep application. The results showed a change in students' creativity after the RADEC model was applied by 24% in the very good category and 76% in the fairly good category. This study's results prove that applying the RADEC model can increase students' creativity in the water cycle material

    BIAS GENDER DALAM BUKU PELAJARAN AGAMA ISLAM SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS

    Abstract: Gender distinction have resulted in differences in the roles of men and women in society. In such a way, this gender distinction is inherent in the perspective of society, so that this distinction is considered permanent. This study aims to determine whether there is an element of gender bias in Islamic high school education textbooks. This study used a qualitative approach and was analyzed using descriptive methods. As for what will be analyzed in this study is the thoughts of Muslims about gender differences, especially those contained in Islamic religious education textbooks at high schools. The technique used to analyze documents is Ethnographic Content Analysis or a study of qualitative media content, which is an integrative and more conceptual analysis method to find, identify, process and analyze documents to understand their meaning, significance and relevance. The results show which is in Islamic religious education text books for Senior High School found that there are two central problems that contain elements of gender bias, namely the first issue of fiqh which includes an explanation of; requirements for Hajj and Umrah travel for women, limits on male and female genitalia, grave pilgrimages, munakahat (marriage guardians, marriage witnesses, husband and wife obligations, and about leaders in the family). The second is a matter of morals that governs the manners of dress and decoration for men and women.Keywords: Gender, Islamic Religious TextbooksAbstrak: Adanya perbedaaan antara laki-lai dan perempuan secara fisik telah membuat sudut pandang yang berbeda di tengah masyarakat, sehingga perbedaan ini dianggap sesuatu yang permanen. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perbedaan gender yang ada pada Buku Pendidikan Agama Islam untuk tingkat Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Melalui pendekatan teori equilibrium yang tidak mempertentangkan perbedaan kaum laki-laki dan perempuan karena kaum laki-laki dan perempuan adalah mitra dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif. Adapun yang akan dianalisis dalam penelitian ini adalah pemikiran umat Islam tentang perbedaan gender, terutama yang tertuang dalam buku pelajaran pendidikan agama Islam Sekolah Menengah Atas. Untuk menganalisis data dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode kualitatif dengan Ethnographyc Content Analysis, yang berarti menganalisis metode integrative yang lebih konseptual untuk menemukan, mengidentifikasi, mengolah dan menganalisis dokumen untuk memahami makna, signifikansi dan relevansinya. Hasil penelitian terhadap buku-buku teks pendidikan agama Islam untuk Sekolah Menengah Atas ditemukan ada dua persoalan sentral yang mengandung unsur bias gender, yaitu pertama persoalan fiqih yang mencakup penjelasan tentang; syarat perjalanan haji dan umrah bagi perempuan, batas aurat laki-laki dan perempuan, ziarah kubur, munakahat (wali nikah, saksi nikah, kewajiban suami istri, dan tentang pemimpin dalam keluarga).
