A new species and new records of Aphodius Illiger (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Aphodiinae) from mammal burrows in Nebraska
Direct sampling of rodent burrows in Nebraska resulted in the collection of 16 species of Aphodius Illiger previously unknown from the state, including specimens of four undescribed species. One of these species is described here as new: Aphodius viceversus new species recorded from Nebraska and Kansas. Other Aphodius species recorded from Nebraska for the first time include A. acuminatus Cartwright, A. anomaliceps Brown, A. carri Brown, A. criddlei Brown, A. kirni Cartwright, A. kiowensis Gordon and Salsbury, A. magnificens Robinson, A. neodistinctus Brown, A. peculiosus Schmidt, A. punctissimus Brown, A. thomomysi Brown, and A. leptotarsis
Brown. Collecting information is summarized for each species
A Dictatorship of Meaning: Villainizing Multiple Perspectives
I read Louis De Caro\u27s John Brown the Abolitionist -- A Biographer\u27s Blog regularly because I deeply respect the work which DeCaro has done in researching Brown, particularly putting him into the context of his religious life. I assigned Fire from the Midst of You : A Religious Life of John Brown to the students in my class this semester on Brown, as it is an intriguing look at the abolitionist. But I read DeCaro\u27s blog because I don\u27t agree with him on many of his criticisms of how Brown is interpreted in a modern context. I try to follow a rule of thumb: you need to read those with whom you disagree voraciously, to keep you from growing complacent in your opinions. [excerpt
Stellar and brown dwarf properties from numerical simulations
We review the statistical properties of stars and brown dwarfs obtained from
the first hydrodynamical simulation of star cluster formation to produce more
than a thousand stars and brown dwarfs while simultaneously resolving the
lowest mass brown dwarfs (those with masses set by the opacity limit for
fragmentation), binaries with separations down to 1 AU, and discs with radii
greater than 10 AU. In particular, we present the eccentricity distribution of
the calculation's very-low-mass and brown dwarf binaries which has not been
previously published.Comment: To be published in Highlights of Astronomy, Vol 15 (CUP) from Special

Kontruksi gerak brown

[Review of] Joanne V. Gabbin. Sterling A. Brown: Building the Black Aesthetic Tradition
Numerous and diverse agendas have competed for consideration in attempts to establish and set the parameters of the black aesthetic tradition. W.E.B. DuBois and James Weldon Johnson are only two of several prominent Americans who have participated in this continuing and frequently intense dialogue. Yet perhaps no voice has been more consistently consulted and valued than that of Sterling A. Brown, distinguished teacher, scholar, poet, and critic. Despite the general acknowledgement of Brown\u27s contributions to American literature in general and black American literature in particular, comprehensive scholarly analyses of his unique contributions have been limited. Joanne V. Gabbin addresses this void in the scholarship in Sterling A. Brown: Building the Black Aesthetic Tradition, a work that includes an analysis of Brown\u27s own creative efforts as well as an outline and discussion of his critical views
Mixing and blending syntactic and semantic dependencies
Our system for the CoNLL 2008 shared
task uses a set of individual parsers, a set of
stand-alone semantic role labellers, and a
joint system for parsing and semantic role
labelling, all blended together. The system
achieved a macro averaged labelled F1-
score of 79.79 (WSJ 80.92, Brown 70.49)
for the overall task. The labelled attachment
score for syntactic dependencies was
86.63 (WSJ 87.36, Brown 80.77) and the
labelled F1-score for semantic dependencies
was 72.94 (WSJ 74.47, Brown 60.18)
