    Kurkumin dalam Ransum Babi sebagai Pengganti Antibiotik Sintetis untuk Perangsang Pertumbuhan

    Dosis pemberian kurkumin yang setara dengan antibiotic Virginamisi sebagai perangsang pertumbuhan pada babi perlu dikaji. Metode eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan lima perlakuan ransum, yaitu; Rvm: 50 ppm Virginamici, R0: tanpa Virginamici dan Kurkumin, R1: 120 ppm Kurkumin, R2: 160 ppm Kurkumin dan R3: 200 ppm Kurkumin. Tiap perlakuan diulang lima kali, sehingga jumlah ternak yang digunakan adalah 25 ekor babi starter umur 2 bulan dengan bobot badan 18 kg dan koefisien variasi 6,33 persen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian Kurkumin sebagai bahan aditif dalam ransum sebanyak 160 ppm berpengaruh nyata terhadap kecernaan energi, kecepatan laju makanan, pertambahan bobot badan, Konversi ransum dan waktu mencapai bobot potong. Penggunaan Kurkumin dalam ransum sampai dosis 160 ppm dapat digunakan sebagai perangsang pertumbuhan menggantikan antibiotik sintetis

    The Effect of High Environment Temperature on Physiological Condition and Productivity of Native Chicken

    The optimal productivity of native chicken could be reached if reared on thermoneutral zone, a comfortable environment temperature. The comfortable environment temperature for the native chicken is still unknown, but it is predicted on around 18 to 25 °C. The native chicken placed on high temperature (25-31 °C) shows low productivity, including lower product and the weight of eggs, and also low growth rate. The decrease of egg number could reach 25% compared with those placed on comfortable environment temperature. The weight of 8 week-age ofnative chicken are also different i.e 257 g on high temperature, while on comfortable temperature could reach 427 g. This productivity decreased is mainly caused by the decreased of feed consumption, and also by the change of physiological condition of the chicken. The efforts to increase the native chicken production on high environment temperature are through selecting and crossing, manipulating environmental temperature, improving rearing management, and manipulating feedstuff and feed management. Manipulating feedstuff is the cheapest method, easy to do for increasing the amount of nutrient consumption. The method is by adding vitamine C, phosphor or giving sodium bycarbonate in the rations. The amount of vitamine C addition is 200-600 mg/kg ration on chicken producing eggs and 100-200 mg/kg ration to improve the chicken growth.     GROWER PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE USE FLOUR COFFEE PULP AS SUBSTITUTION MATERIALS TO A PARTS OF FINE BRAN ON FEED. Various feed ingredients or waste that have not been utilized for example the skin of coffee fruit can be an alternative feed ingredient source of crude fiber see its content in the skin of the fruit coffee is 33.60%. North Sulawesi, especially Bolaang Mogondow, which is a center of coffee plantation, has a plantation area of 4,097.7 ha, with coffee production reaching 2,135.46 tons of raw material which has not been separated between coffee fruit with its leaves and stems. After the separated coffee fruit obtained as much as 1,288.22 tons per year. Coffee fruit is processed to separate between the seeds and skin after separated obtained by the skin of coffee fruit as much as 448,449 tons. The appearance of production by looking at weight gain, the amount of consumption and the efficiency of feed use is part of the requirement to see the production capability of pigs. The study was conducted for 66 days consisting of 52 days of data collection period and 2 weeks preliminary collecting data aims to determine the effect of coffee skin use as a substitute of some fine bran on the production performance of the grower pigs to the finisher. The study used 16 male and female pigs grower period aged 12-16 weeks descent kinds Yorkshire and Landrace. Randomized block design with four levels of treatment that is 0, 25%, 50%, 75% coffee pulp as a partial replacement of fine bran in 4 groups. Differences in body weight is a replication of the study. The result of analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the powder of coffee husk as substitute of bran to the weight gain gave real effect (P 0.05) Feed gave a real effect. The result is the use of coffee leaf powder as a substitute of some fine bran in grower pigs until finisher can provide good growth and efficient use of good feed.Keywords: Phase grower, finisher, flour coffee ski

    This research was conducte to find out the effect and optimal percentage of adding Zn and Cu proteinat supplement product of fermentation by Saccharomyces cerev s ae in the ration on internal quality of the broiler.The experiment use 125 broiler day ol chicken with a Completely Randomize Design.The ration treatments were R0 (control),R1 (99%R0 +1%supplement Zn and Cu proteinat),R2 (98%R0 +2%supplement Zn and Cu proteinat),R3 (97%R0 +3%supplement Zn and Cu proteinat)and R4 (96%R0 +4%supplement Zn and Cu proteinat)where each treatment was repeate five times and each replication consiste of five broiler chicks.Variable analysis were body cut weight,carcass percentage,liver relative weight,and the content of cholesterol broiler meat.Conclusion of the research showe that by using 3%of Zn and Cu proteinat supplement substrat in the ration gave the best internal quality of broiler,increase body cut weight,carcass percentage,otherwise liver relative weight and the content of cholesterol broiler meat were normal.     Kajian Aktivitas Ovarium Babi Betina Hasil Pemotongan di Rumah Potong Hewan Tradisional

    Siklus reproduksi babi betina yang normal ditandai dengan terbentuknya folikel dominan. Adanya folikeldominan dan corpus luteum pada ovarium sebagai petunjuk tingkat aktivitas ovarium ataupun status reproduksi.Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 buah ovarium dari 50 ekor babi betina dibagi dalam tiga kelompok bobot potong,yaitu kurang dari 90 kg, sama dengan 100 kg, dan lebih dari 100 kg. Variabel yang diamati adalah dimensi ovarium,jumlah folikel dan corpus luteum pada ovarium kanan dan kiri. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis deskritif kuantitatif.Selain itu digunakan juga Uji t untuk mengetahui perbandingan antara aktivitas ovarium kanan dan kiri. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa berat ovarium kanan 5,70±1,22 g dan ovarium kiri 6,77±0,96 g. Jumlah folikeldominan pada ovarium kanan 6,54±1,81 buah sedangkan ovarium kiri 9,78±1,58 buah. Jumlah corpus luteumpada ovarium kanan 5,49±2,22 buah dan ovarium kiri 8,16±1.86 buah. Jumlah folikel dominan dan corpus luteumovarium kiri nyata lebih banyak (P<0,05) dibanding ovarium kanan. Persentase folikel dominan dan corpus luteumtertinggi terdapat pada babi kelompok bobot potong lebih dari 100 kg. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah statusreproduksi babi betina yang dipotong di RPH tradisional cukup baik, dan ovarium kiri lebih aktif dari ovariumkanan
