We report a case of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix. A 71-year-old women visited our hospital because fecal occult blood test was positive. Colonoscopy showed a round submucosal tumor-like lesion in the cecum. Abdominal CT scan showed a cystic tumor, 3×2 cm in diameter, adjacent to the cecum. A barium enema showed a round submucosal tumor-like lesion in the cecum, without demonstration of the appendix. The hematological tests showed an elevation of serum CEA level. We performed laparotomy with a suspicion of mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix. At the time of the operation, the appendix was swollen and filled with jelly-like mucus. We performed appendectomy because intraoperative pathological diagnosis by frozen section showed no malignancy. But, postoperative final pathological diagnosis revealed mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix. Ileocecal resection with D2 lymph node dissection was performed on the 17th days after the first operation. Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix is comparatively rare and it is difficult to diagnose it preoperatively

This clinical report describes an esthetic application of partial restoration to anterior teeth using a hybrid ceramics inlay. The patient was a 22-year-old male, a dentistry medical worker, it was proposed to polish the surface of a CR filling part. A custom-made tray was fabricated for the mouth, to be restored with an inlay after taking the impression, adhesion was performed by a resin system adhesion compound. There were no clinical problems with the proceclme, plesent subjective symptoms and progress are good. The patient was satisfied with the color tone of the surface. The manufactured tray was helpful when consideing full adaptation in quality based on expectationsfus the restoration attachment-and-detachment by the dentist and dental technician. As a result of this study, it is thought that from considesations of the impression a custom-made tray is indispensable

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle "JINBEI", constructed in 2012, is a cruising type AUV with a weight of 2 ton and a length of 4.0m. The major purposes are observation of underwater CO2 distribution in deep sea and exploration of seabed mineral resources. It has four rear-thrusters, two mid-ship azimuthal thrusters, and a rear X-rudder. The AUV is equipped with three main sensors; a multi-beam echo sounder, a side scan sonar, and a hybrid CO2-pH sensor. During KY12-10 cruise in August 2012, we deployed "JINBEI" at a methane hydrate area in Joetsu knoll and Umitaka Spur, Japan Sea. The depth of the area is 850-950m. The vehicle cruised over the methane hydrate area at a speed of 2 knots. We obtained high-resolution side scan images of hydrate mounts as well as methane plumes. At same time, the CO2-pH sensor detected the methane plumes indirectly. Through the dives, we confirmed that the cruising AUV "JINBEI" is one of powerful tool for survey of scientific observations.Date of Conference: 23-27 September 2013http://www.godac.jamstec.go.jp/darwin/cruise/kaiyo/ky12-10/

The present study investigated of the situation of oral implant therapy in Hokkaido. Information was obtained with questionnaires mailed to dentists in Hokkaido who are graduates of the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido. A total of 28 of 68 questionnaires were returned (41.2 percent), and all completed surveys were analyzed. The questionnaire asked "How many implant systems are used in your clinic? "The majority of responses was one system (50.0 percent), followed by three (25.0 percent), and two systems (16.7 percent). The most commonly used implant systems were Calcitek (21.1 percent), followed by POI and ITI (15.8 percent), then Branemark, AQB and Platon (10.5 percent). Porcelain fused to metal crowns were used more than resin veneered crowns on implant supported prostheses. At the incisor and canine, porcelain fused to metal crowns were commonly used. At the premolar, porcelain fused to metal crowns were used more often than full cast crowns. At molars, full cast crowns were commonly used. The most common retaining method of prostheses used by dentists was temporary retaining, followed by cement retaining, and screw retaining. The results of this survey suggest that aesthetic treatment is important in present day implant therapy
