Yeni Lisan Movement in the Context of “Fon Sadriştayn’ın Oğlu” Short Story Written By Omer Seyfettin
Yeni Lisan hareketinin öncüsü olan Ömer Seyfettin, XX. yüzyılın milliyetçilik asrı
olduğunun farkına varmış bilinçli bir aydındır. Yazar, “Yeni Lisan” başlıklı yazılarında
ülkenin içinde bulunduğu buhrandan kurtulabilmesi için ulus olmanın gerekliliğinden söz
eder.
Bu makalede Ömer Seyfettin’in fikirlerini, söz konusu
hikâyeye nasıl taşıdığı irdelenmeye çalışılacaktır
Zhang Yimou's 'Blood simple':cannibalism, remaking and translation in world cinema
Zhang Yimou’s A Woman, A Gun and A Noodle Shop (2009) remakes the Coen brothers’ Blood Simple (1984) in a way that re-imagines the earlier film in a Chinese setting, adapting and recreating the narrative, but the film cannot be regarded as being aimed solely at a Chinese audience, as it was also released in the United States and United Kingdom. Drawing from translation studies and film studies, this article analyses how Zhang’s film adapts its source material, particularly its tendency to make explicit elements that were left implicit in the source text. The idea of cannibalization, from Brazilian modernist theory, helps explain the ambiguous orientation of the remake as both homage to and localization of the source text. This hybridity was not well received by American audiences and shows how the movie’s connection to both Zhang and the Coens leads to a dual voice in the film. The analysis demonstrates how translation and cross-cultural adaptation enrich ideas of world cinema
Evaluation of hearing and cochlear function by audiometric testing in patients with hyperemesis gravidarum
INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to investigate cochlear functions in patients with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).METHODS: Twenty-nine HG patients (58 ears) and 31 healthy control subjects (62 ears) were included. Audiometry testings at 250 and 500 Hz and 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 kHz were performed to the patients and controls.RESULTS: Mean age of patients with HG was 26,5 ± 4,4 years and the mean age of control group was 28,0 ± 4,2 years. At the time of the tests mean gestational age of the HG group and controls were 9 and 11 weeks respectively. No differences were observed between the groups in tympanic membrane status, or other otolaringological evaluations. No significant differences were observed in audiometric tests at any frequencies between the groups (p values for all > 0.05).CONCLUSION: There was not a difference between pregnant cases with HG and cases with normal pregnancy in terms of audimetric tests. Cochlear functions are not affected remarkably in women with HG

Value sets of bivariate Chebyshev maps over finite fields
We determine the cardinality of the value sets of bivariate Chebyshev maps
over finite fields. We achieve this using the dynamical properties of these
maps and the algebraic expressions of their fixed points in terms of roots of
unity.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figure
