A look ahead approach to secure multi-party protocols

    Get PDF
Secure multi-party protocols have been proposed to enable non-colluding parties to cooperate without a trusted server. Even though such protocols prevent information disclosure other than the objective function, they are quite costly in computation and communication. Therefore, the high overhead makes it necessary for parties to estimate the utility that can be achieved as a result of the protocol beforehand. In this paper, we propose a look ahead approach, specifically for secure multi-party protocols to achieve distributed k-anonymity, which helps parties to decide if the utility benefit from the protocol is within an acceptable range before initiating the protocol. Look ahead operation is highly localized and its accuracy depends on the amount of information the parties are willing to share. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed methods

The fictive archive: Kurdish filmmaking in Turkey

In this paper, I consider the potentials and theoretical interpretations of Kurdish Cinema produced in Turkey. I evaluate the dynamics of the emergence of a state-less Kurdish cinema, which produces films in spite of the existence of Turkish National cinema and an oppressive Turkish national identity. Using Hayden White’s formulations on narrative and history and Gilles Deleuze’s theories on minority filmmaking and the time-image, I argue that the conception of time in Kurdish Cinema exceeds the time of the narrative and carries an archival potential for the unrepresented history of Kurdish life in Turkey

This study was conducted at a bottomland hardwood site with heavy textured soil in Akyazi, Turkey to determine the effect of initial spacing (3.0 x 3.0, 3.0 x 2.0, 2.5 x 1.6 and 2.5 x 1.2 m) and post-planting treatments (untreated check, moving, hoeing, disking, and hoeing plus disking) on early survival and growth,of Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl. One-year old bare-root seedlings (70 +/- 5 cm in height) were hand-planted in December 2004. Through three years survival was perfect with a rate of 98% in all treatments. Spacing and the interaction between spacing and post-planting treatment did not significantly affect seedling growth through three years. However, height and diameter growth increased overtime and differed significantly among post-planting treatments. The hoeing and hoeing plus disking treatments gave the highest growth, and resulted in about 31% increase in diameter and height increment, and in total diameter and height about 20%. These results suggest that post-planting treatments on bottomland sites with heavy textured soil give promising results

Most of the events in the real world show non-linear behavior. Such events are usually chaotic. Chaotic systems are highly sensitive to the initial conditions and parameters values, exhibit non-periodic properties, and some have a very broad frequency spectrum. Because of these features, chaotic systems are used in different branches of science such as encryption, communication, random number generators, prediction algorithms, computer games, biology, medicine. In this regard, a variety of chaotic and hyper-chaotic systems are introduced in the literature. However, because of chaotic systems are very sensitive to initial conditions and parameters, chaotic systems need to be synchronized in order to be used in chaos-based communication and encryption applications. In this study, a new chaotic system presented by Lai and Chen in 2016 was synchronized with active control method. Consequently, it is shown that the Lai-Chen chaotic system can be synchronized and used in chaos-based communication and encryption applications

Escherichia coli O157:H7 was first identified as a human pathogen following two geographically separate outbreaks of hemorrhagic colitis in the United States in 1982. E. coli O157:H7 was one of the most common enteric pathogen isolated. Persons infected with E. coli O157:H7 may be asymptomatic, symptoms may include diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, hemolytic-uremic syndrome, and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. Shiga-like toxin- producing Escherichia coli (STEC), also known as Vero toxin-producing E. coli (VTEC), infection in humans is food-borne and that cattle act as a reservoir for STEC infection. The aim of this study was, investigate the presence of E. coli O157:H7 in milk and faeces of cattle that taken from Aydın and zmir region and determine their verotoxin production capability. In this study, 4 (%1,3) E. coli O157:H7 isolated from 150 milk and 150 faeces. Two E. coli O157:H7 isolated from both milk and faeces sample and we determine that one of the isolate taken from milk produce VT1

Determination of age and some growth parameters in different populations of Ommatotriton ophryticus (Berthold, 1846) (Caudata: Salamandridae) (northern banded newt)

Body size of newts from three populations of Ommatotriton ophryticus in Turkey was measured and the age of the newts was estimated using skelotochronological method. Age was determined individually by counting the number of restling lines (LAG) in cross-sections taken from phalanges. Body size (SVL) is similar among populations ranged between 58.41-85.78 mm in males and 50.33-71.56 mm in females. Males are significantly bigger than females in all populations. Age at maturity was determined as 4-6 years in males and 5-6 years in females. The average age of males and females in all populations was similar and did not significantly differ. Maximum age or longevity was ranged from 9 to 12 years in males and 9 to 11 years in females. Positive correlation between body size (SVL) and age was determined for both males and females in all populations. In this study, significant difference was determined among populations of Ommatotriton ophryticus in terms of age and body size (6, 7 and 8 age classes). However, it was difficult to say that these differences resulted from geographic positions or altitudes of localities. For this reason, the age and body size is tought to be effected by other ecological factors such as predation, aggressive competitors, food etc

In recent decades, chaos theory has been used in different engineering applications of different disciplines. Discrete chaotic maps can be used in encryption applications for digital applications. In this study, firstly, Lozi, Tinkerbell and Barnsley Fern discrete chaotic maps are implemented based on microcontroller. Then, microcontroller based random number generator is implemented by using the three different two-dimensional discrete chaotic maps. The designed random number generator outputs are applied to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) 800-22 and FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) tests for randomness validity. The random numbers are successful in all tests

Chaotic and hyperchaotic systems have been used in different fields of science in recent years. Many chaotic and hyperchaotic systems with different behaviors have been introduced in the literature. Especially in chaotic system based encryption, random number generator and communication applications, hyperchaotic systems are more preferred because of their more complex characteristics. The chaotic and hyperchaotic systems introduced in the literature are generally presented only as numerical simulation. However, it is necessary to design the electronic circuit for the use of the systems in real applications. In this study, numerical simulation results of four-dimensional (4D) hyperchaotic finance system introduced by Cao in 2018 were obtained and then analog electronic circuit design was realized. Numerical simulation results and designed electronic circuit outputs have confirmed each other. As a result, it is ensured that Cao 4D hyperchaotic finance system can be used in real engineering applications
