In the scope of the study, two different cemented prostheses types namely; Charnley and Hipokrat were used for predicting bone adaptation and mechanical behavior of cemented total hip reconstructions (THR). The concentrated or distributed muscle and hip contact forces were applied to the cemented THR during walking and climbing of stairs. The finite element modeling and analyses were then pursued according to 23 factorial design method using these prostheses and activities. The maximum von Mises stresses occurred on the components of the cemented THR having the cortical and trabecular layers of bones, prosthesis and cement mantle were determined in the finite element analysis. The statistical analysis of these data was then carried out using variance analysis method to evaluate the contribution and interaction of main factors on the observed values. It was identified from this statistical study that the maximum von Mises stresses of the cemented THR’s components showed significant differences for the majority of main factors and their two-factor interactions. Mikro derin çekme işleminde numune ve tribolojik boyut etkisinin sonlu eleman analiziyle incelenmesi
Konferans Bildirisi -- Teorik ve Uygulamalı Mekanik Türk Milli Komitesi, 2013Conference Paper -- Theoretical and Applied Mechanical Turkish National Committee, 2013Bu çalışmada nümune boyut etkisi ve sürtünme katsayısının bir mikro derin çekme parçasının şekillendirilmesine etkisi sonlu eleman analizi yardımıyla incelenmiştir. Boyut etkisini incelemek amacıyla 0.1 , 0.2 ve 1 mm kalınlıklarında 3 farklı sac kullanılmış; kalıp ve zımbaya ait ölçüler de her bir işlemde aynı oranda arttırılarak 3 farklı sonlu eleman modeli oluşturulmuştur. Sac kalınlığının azaltılmasıyla eşdeğer von Mises gerilmesi değerlerinin arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Tribolojik boyut etkisinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılan analizlerde ise sürtünme katsayısının arttırılması durumunda eşdeğer gerilmelerde artış gözlenmiş ve 0.1 mm sac kalınlığı için en yüksek eşdeğer gerilme değeri elde edilmiştir.Effects of specimen size and coefficient of friction on micro-deep drawn part have been investigated by means of finite element analysis. To this goal, blanks with three different thicknesses, namely 0.1, 0.2, and 1 mm, have been used. Furthermore, dimensions for die and punch are increased by same factor in FE models. Results showed that, equivalent von Mises stress values are increased when thinner sheet gauges are used. Similarly, increased equivalent von Mises stress values are observed with increasing coefficient friction values, and the highest values are obtained for the smallest sheet thickness
Performance-based seismic assessment method for medium-rise RC buildings
Severe earthquakes registered in Turkey over the last five decades have shown that most of the existing buildings exhibit low resistance to earthquake action. In this study, a simplified version of the performance based rapid seismic assessment method (PERA) is proposed for the analysis of medium-size reinforced-concrete buildings. The influence of a critical storey is also considered when evaluating performance of the entire building. Good agreement is obtained between predictions by the simplified method, the PERA method, and the code based structural performance assessment procedures
“The Lolelaplap (Marshall Islands) in Us: Sailing West to East (Ralik→Ratak) to These Our Atolls (Aelon Kein Ad) Ad Jolet Jen Anij (Our Blessed Inheritance from God)”
This paper discusses the expansion of Oceania through a Marshallese indigenous lens as a focal point. It explains that decolonizing methodologies allows reclaiming of space for mental liberation and reassurement of constitutional rights. It highlights similar occurrences of decolonization practices meeting resistance in the 21st century all while strengthening the human right argument that no human deserves any less than their fellow human brothers and sisters. It argues that an indigenous imagery can only be viewed through an indigenous lens where the researches’ level of purity is retained and unfiltered. It nevertheless argues that Marshallese ethnolinguistics reveal the same cultural practices in America, Judeo-Christianity, and Oceania thus dictating the reality that “we are the same not withstanding one stays here and one there (Bedbedjin Bedbedjen, Bedbedjinma wot Kwe)”. It further explains the importance in these similarities and how Marshallese spirituality predates introduced American Judeo-Christianity despite the latter attempting to marginalize the former. It concludes by stating that Marshallese contributions on the global stage are rooted in that culture of love (IaKwe) which is echoed by the custom(s) revealing the significance of Marshallese validation academically, spiritually, economically, & socially to prevent institutionalized discrimination. This paper ends stating that the agency to know one’s self and how one should fit in the world, is a human right in itself and Marshallese are entitled to this sense of self worth through knowing thy self by thy self where real thinking takes place in one’s own mind as we all live our own lives
The Investigation Of A 3-Dimensional Human Hip Joint Subjected To Distributed Load By Using Finite Element Method
In this study, a three dimensionally modeled human hip joint was investigated by using finite element method. During this study, finite element models were prepared for three different prosthesis types namely; Charnley, Muller and Hipokrat and for two different activities as walking and stair climbing motions. Ansys Workbench commercial program was used for finite element analysis by applying distributed load condition. The von- Mises stresses and strains occurred on the cortical and trabecular layers of bone, prosthesis and bone cement which was used to assemble prosthesis into bone's intramedullary canal, were determined at the end of the finite element analysis and compared to each other
Power plant planning in Turkey: An evaluation with integer fuzzy weighted goal programming model
12th International Conference on Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Technologies in Nuclear Science (FLINS) -- AUG 24-26, 2016 -- Roubaix, FRANCEWOS: 000417158200111This paper is about rapidly increasing usage of renewable and sustainable energy investment projects in Turkey these days. On account of having both monetary and harmful effects on the environment, the energy produced by fossil fuels needs to be determined how complex its sources, location and type will be. Because sustainability of such investments may reveal some problems when considered it is thought about current technological advances. The usage of integrated multi-objective decision making approaches is much more appropriate to overcome such problems. The seven energy sources in Turkey are considered in accordance with existing statistics and 2023 projections. The deviations from goals has been measured by an integer fuzzy weighted goal programming model.Aksaray University, Scientific Research Projects Coordination UnitsThis work is supported by Aksaray University, Scientific Research Projects Coordination Units

Priority ranking for energy resources in Turkey and investment planning for renewable energy resources
WOS: 000449089100003Energy has been an essential factor in determining the governments' policies. The countries had to produce their own energy to decrease dependency on external resources. That also provided to gain a great importance on investment on power plants. In this study, a multi-objective Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model synchronously optimizing five targets determined as decreasing carbon dioxide (CO2) emission, increasing power consumption, increasing power plants, increasing energy generation and installed capacity was used. In described model, it was solved by considering renewable power plants in Turkey and fossil fuel-based power plants having most share in Turkey. By trying to minimize deviation values of Turkey's 2023 targets, it aimed to determine which power plants need to be increased. To determine the priorities of these targets, Ranking Approach for fuzzy numbers by Liou andWang (1992) was used. Besides, Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to prioritize investment planning of renewable power plants in Turkey and five different kinds of power plants under the visual pollution criteria based on amount of CO2 emission released, environmental damage, capital costs, space requirement and provided employment were evaluated
