Electrical Size Reduction of Microstrip Antennas by Using Defected Ground Structures Composed of Complementary Split Ring Resonator
In this study the effects of using defected ground structures (DGS) composed of a
complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) and CSRR with dumbbell (CSRR-D) for rectangular microstrip
antennas are investigated. On this aim, two different antennas, which are Antenna B having CSRR etched
DGS and Antenna C having CSRR-D etched DGS are designed and fabricated in comparison with the
ordinary rectangular patch antenna, which is Antenna A. In both Antenna B and C, CSRR structures are
etched in the same position of the ground planes. On the other hand, another ordinary microstrip antenna,
called Antenna D, is designed at resonance frequency of Antenna C. For the characterization, resonance
frequencies, voltage standing wave ratios, percentage bandwidths, gains, ka values and gain radiation
patterns are investigated both in simulations and experiments. The numerical analyses show that 29.39 %
and 44.49 % electrical size reduction (ESR) ratios are obtained for Antenna B and Antenna C, respectively
in comparison to Antenna A. The experimental results verify the ESR ratios with 29.15 % and 44.94 %.
Supporting, Antenna C promises 68.12 % physical size reduction (PSR) as it is compared with Antenna D.
These results reveal that Antenna C is a good alternative for DGS based microstrip electrically small
antennas
EFFECTS OF ACUTE EXERCISE ON SOME BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF WOMEN
In the study, it was aimed to investigate the changes in some biochemical parameters (urea, AST, ALT, glucose, creatinine and TSH) of women with acute exercise. 50 women aged 19-48 years participated in the study as volunteers. Urea, AST, ALT, glucose, creatinine and TSH levels were analyzed in blood samples taken before exercise and at the end of an acute exercise session. SPSS package program and Paired Samples t test were used for the comparison of pre and post test results of the obtained data. When the results were evaluated, while there was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test values of the study group in urea, AST and ALT levels (p<0,05), it was determined that Glucose, creatinine and TSH levels were not significantly different (p>0,05). In conclusion, it can be said that acute swimming exercises applied to women are causing a significant change in liver enzymes (AST, ALT) and urea levels and these changes may be considered beneficial for the health status of the individual. Controlling Hydrocarbon (De)Hydrogenation Pathways with Bifunctional PtCu Single-Atom Alloys
The conversions of surface-bound alkyl groups to alkanes and alkenes are important steps in many heterogeneously catalyzed reactions. On the one hand, while Pt is ubiquitous in industry because of its high activity toward C-H activation, many Pt-based catalysts tend to overbind reactive intermediates, which leads to deactivation by carbon deposition and coke formation. On the other hand, Cu binds intermediates more weakly than Pt, but activation barriers tend to be higher on Cu. We examine the reactivity of ethyl, the simplest alkyl group that can undergo hydrogenation and dehydrogenation via β-elimination, and show that isolated Pt atoms in Cu enable low-temperature hydrogenation of ethyl, unseen on Cu, while avoiding the decomposition pathways on pure Pt that lead to coking. Furthermore, we confirm the predictions of our theoretical model and experimentally demonstrate that the selectivity of ethyl (de)hydrogenation can be controlled by changing the surface coverage of hydrogen
Genome-Wide Scan of Wool Production Traits in Akkaraman Sheep
The objective of this study was to uncover the genetic background of wool quality, a production trait, by estimating genomic heritability and implementing GWAS in Akkaraman sheep. The wool characteristics measured included fibre diameter (FD) and staple length (SL) at the age of 8 months and yearling fibre diameter (YFD), yearling staple length (YSL) and yearling greasy fleece weight (YGFW) at 18 months of age. Animals were genotyped using the Axiom 50 K Ovine Genotyping Array. Maximum likelihood estimations of a linear mixed model (LMM) were used to estimate genomic heritability, where GWAS was conducted following a score test of each trait. Genomic heritability estimates for the traits ranged between 0.22 and 0.63, indicating that phenotypes have a moderate range of heritability. One genome- and six chromosome-wide significant SNPs were associated with the wool traits in Akkaraman lambs. Accordingly, TRIM2, MND1, TLR2, RNF175, CEP290, TMTC3, RERE, SLC45A1, SOX2, MORN1, SKI, FAAP20, PRKCZ, GABRD, CFAP74, CALML6 and TMEM52 genes as well as nine uncharacterized regions (LOC101118971, LOC105609137, LOC105603067, LOC101122892, LOC106991694, LOC106991467, LOC106991455, LOC105616534 and LOC105609719) were defined as plausible candidates. The findings of this study shed light on the genetics of wool quality and yield for the Akkaraman breed and suggests targets for breeders during systematic breeding programmes

Treatment of Cleft lip & Palate Related Maxillary Hypoplasia with RED System: Case Report
Clefts of the lip and palate present one of the most challenging congenital disorders to the orthodontists and craniofacial surgeons. A common finding is maxillary hypoplasia. Current case report presents the treatment of a 19 years old female unilateral cleft lip and palate patient characterized with maxillary constriction, retrusion and severe underjet. The case has been successfully treated with fixed appliance therapy and rigid external distraction and relapse at the end of treatment is minimal. However, longer follow-ups are required to assess the exact amount of stability

Ambient synthesis of nanomaterials by in situ heterogeneous metal/ligand reactions
Coordination polymers are ideal synthons in creating high aspect ratio nanostructures, however, conventional synthetic methods are often restricted to batch-wise and costly processes. Herein, we demonstrate a non-traditional, frugal approach to synthesize 1D coordination polymers by in situ etching of zerovalent metal particle precursors. This procedure is denoted as the heterogeneous metal/ligand reaction and was demonstrated on Group 13 metals as a proof of concept. Simple carboxylic acids supply the etchant protons and ligands for metal ions (conjugate base) in a 1 : 1 ratio. This scalable reaction produces a 1D polymer that assembles into high-aspect ratio 'nanobeams'. We demonstrate control over crystal structure and morphology by tuning the: (i) metal center, (ii) stoichiometry and (iii) structure of the ligands. This work presents a general scalable method for continuous, heat free and water-based coordination polymer synthesis
