The advantages of inclusive education is a guaranteed commitment to quality education,
and one of the keys to this success lies with teachers. Therefore teacher training is
essential to alleviate the needs presented in educational contexts. Also on this path, it is
necessary to know the attitudes of future teachers before making any changes in their
curricula in the various faculties of education.

Scale of Attitudes Towards Cultural Diversity (ADC) for Future Teachers

Strong coupling between mechanical modes in a nanotube resonator
We report on the nonlinear coupling between the mechanical modes of a
nanotube resonator. The coupling is revealed in a pump-probe experiment where a
mode driven by a pump force is shown to modify the motion of a second mode
measured with a probe force. In a second series of experiments, we actuate the
resonator with only one oscillating force. Mechanical resonances feature exotic
lineshapes with reproducible dips, peaks, and jumps when the measured mode is
commensurate with another mode with a frequency ratio of either 2 or 3.
Conventional lineshapes are recovered by detuning the frequency ratio using the
voltage on a nearby gate electrode. The exotic lineshapes are attributed to
strong coupling between the mechanical modes. The possibility to control the
strength of the coupling with the gate voltage holds promise for various
experiments, such as quantum manipulation, mechanical signal processing, and
the study of the quantum-toclassical transition.Comment: manuscript and supporting material, 31 pages, 15 figure
A proposal for normalized impedance functions of inclined piles in non-homogeneous media
10th International Conference on Structural Dynamics (EURODYN). Sapienza University Rome, September, 10-13, 2017.This work presents impedance functions for inclined pile groups embedded in different half spaces whose stiffness continuously increases with depth. The results are obtained through a three-dimensional harmonic model where the soil response is modelled through the reciprocity theorem in elastodynamics and the use of Green’s functions for the layered half space, while the piles are represented by finite elements as Timoshenko’s beams. Linear behaviour of soil and piles is assumed. The use of several normalization schemes for the representation of the impedance functions is discussed, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of each choice and their effects on the interpretation of the obtained results. As a result, expressions for the dimensionless impedance functions and frequency are proposed in order to synthesize the results of the different soil profiles into the same curves. The final objective of the proposed normalization is to transform the well-known impedance functions for the homogeneous halfspace into the corresponding curves for a specific non-homogeneous profile that can be used, e.g., in a substructuring methodology. Despite the fact that the presence of soil non-homogeneity increases the dependence of the impedance functions on the frequency, good agreements between the homogeneous and non-homogeneous profiles can be achieved for a range of frequency of interest. This work was supported by Subdirección General de Proyectos de Investigación of the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO) of Spain and FEDER through research project BIA2014-57640-R. Environmental monitoring of marine aquaculture facilities
Aquaculture, like any other productive activity which uses natural resources, can have an impact on the environment. Both the magnitude and dimension of this influence are related to the type of culture being carried out, and the geographic location of the farm. The present study focuses on the environmental impact associated with aquaculture activities (both inland and off-shore), and identifies the best indicators in the water column and the seabed, in order to further our knowledge of the environmental impact of this activity, thus helping to improve the design of aquaculture environmental monitoring.
Recovery of the physiological status in professional basketball players using NESA neuromodulation treatment during different types of microcycles in season: A preliminary randomized clinical trial.
The purpose of the study was to describe and compare recovery status after official basketball competition in players who underwent NESA neuromodulation treatment (NNT) in weeks with one or two matches. The recovery parameters of 12 professional male basketball players (mean ± SD, age: 20.6 ± 2.7 yr; height: 197.8 ± 11.7 cm; and body mass: 89.0 ± 21.2 kg) that competed in the LEB Plata (Spanish third division) were monitored 2 days after match-play over 6 weeks, and included: 1) the Hooper Test, which combines four subjective variables (sleep, stress, fatigue and soreness); 2) common biochemical markers (e.g., testosterone, cortisol and ratio T:C); and 3) lowest heart rate [HR], average HR, HR variability, sleep duration, awake time during night and onset latency before asleep). Players that completed NNT presented differences compared to the control group in sleep data. For instance, the lowest HR (p < 0.001), average HR (p < 0.001) and total awake time (p = 0.04) were significantly reduced in the NNT group. On the contrary, the control group presented greater values than the NNT group in the subjective Hooper Test, although only stress presented significant differences (Control 2.5 ± 1.2 vs. NNT cost or 3.2 ± 0.9; p = 0.01). Additionally, there were no significant differences in recovery parameters between weeks with one or two matches. In conclusion, the results suggest that players that underwent NNT tended to improve their sleep quality. Nevertheless, player’s values in the biochemical markers and wellness status remained similar in both groups. The fact that no significant differences were found between weeks with one or two matches could help basketball professionals to determine that a congested schedule does not seem to negatively alter recovery status.post-print1317 K
Energetic Modes in Turbulent Pipe Flow From Resolvent Analysis
We describe a method to investigate the mode shapes in turbulent pipe flow at a given
wavenumber pair that are most responsive to harmonic forcing in the sense that the they
correspond to the largest singular value in a Schmidt decomposition of the linear Navier-Stokes operator using the turbulent mean profile as the base flow. The ideas follow logically
from the work of Sharma & McKeon (2009), who considered a similar approach for laminar pipe flow
