Secure webs and buying intention: the moderating role of usability
El presente trabajo ha planteado un modelo conceptual a fin de mostrar como los antecedentes de la intención de
compra se ven reforzados en contextos de Webs altamente usables. Específicamente, el trabajo analiza en
profundidad el rol moderador de la usabilidad en la explicación de la conexión entre seguridad de una Web e
intención de compra. Entre ambos extremos (seguridad e intención de compra), se han incluido diversas
variables para explicar mejor su conexión. Para ello, ha sido diseñada una Web ficticia de ropa dirigida al
segmento joven de clase media. A fin de alterar la usabilidad de la Web se han realizado dos tipos de
manipulaciones: la velocidad y la facilidad de uso de la Web. Las dos Webs creadas (alta usabilidad y baja
usabilidad) fueron visitadas por un total de 170 encuestados que fueron compensados con un USB valorado en
15 euros. Los resultados muestran que la seguridad percibida en la Web acarrea tres interesantes efectos
(especialmente para la Web altamente usable): (i) mejora las actitudes agrado, (ii) reduce el nivel de riesgo
percibido; (iii) aumenta la confianza. Los dos últimos efectos, a su vez, acaban aumentando la intención de
compra.. Por último, se ha demostrado que la usabilidad, efectivamente, refuerza las relaciones consideradas en
el modelo propuesto para explicar la intención de compra.A conceptual model has been proposed to show how buying intention antecedents are reinforced in highly usable
contexts. Specifically, this paper deeply analyses the moderator role of system variables (usability) on explaining
the relationship between Web security and buying intention. Between both extremes (security and buying
intention), several relationships have also been stated to better explain this effect. An “ideal” fictitious Website
was designed for a non existent clothing company directed at the segment of middle class consumers. In order to
alter Web usability, two blocks of changes were made, one concerning Website speed and the other related to
ease of use. Our experiment sample consisted of 170 respondents who participated in exchange for a pen-drive
(USB) valued at 15 euros. The results show that improving website security has three interesting effects
(especially in high usable contexts): (i) it improves pleasure attitudes, (ii) reduces the level of perceived risk and
(iii) increases trust. Secondly, it has been found that to increase buying intention, two actions must be taken: (i)
to diminish perceived risk and (ii) to improve users’ pleasure attitudes towards the Website. Finally, usability has
been found to have a moderating role in all the relationships considered (reinforcing them)

Users' trust in information resources in the Web environment: a status report
This study has three aims; to provide an overview of the ways in which trust is either assessed or asserted in relation to the use and provision of resources in the Web environment for research and learning; to assess what solutions might be worth further investigation and whether establishing ways to assert trust in academic information resources could assist the development of information literacy; to help increase understanding of how perceptions of trust influence the behaviour of information users

Understanding the factors that attract travellers to buy tickets online in Saudi Arabia
Despite widespread discussions of online consumer behaviour and the effect of web quality on online user’s actions, there is still a lack of research in the area of consumer attitude towards the services provided by airline companies due to the specific nature of travellers. – being using the internet for different motivations and buying specific kind of product (e-tickets). This study aims to measure consumers’ electronic satisfaction and intention to purchase tickets from Airlines websites. The results provide better understanding on the factors that attract travellers to adopt the most cost effective distribution channel for Airlines (own website) for ticketing needs. To obtain the study objective, a conceptual framework is developed based on literature pertaining to e-consumer behaviour, web quality, and travel and tourism streams. A detective quantitative methodology was chosen to examine the constructs and the relations within the framework. An online survey targeting actual airline online users (travellers) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is suggested with items covering 9 constructs: Information Quality (IQ), System Quality (SQ), Perceived usefulness (PU), Perceived ease of use (PEOU),e-Trust (ET), Airline reputation (AR), Price Perception (PP), e-Satisfaction (ES), and Intention to Purchase (IP). Findings would help decision makers within airline companies to understand their customers’ online behaviour and enable enhancements and modifications to be made to their airline storefront, hence ensuring the satisfaction of potential customers and conversion of visitors into buyers
Models for evaluating tourism websites
This paper reviews tourism studies that pertain to methodological approaches to website
evaluation of tourism websites, in order to make future judgement analysis of tourism
websites. Although, it is difficult to make a systematic and complete evaluation on websites,
they are quality due to their diversity of functionalities, which make them complex to
analyses. Many studies have proposed new website evaluation frameworks and criteria. The
research attempted to understand and improve website evaluation based on models related
to the tourism websites. Through those models, the research proposed a new model based
on the previous models discussed on this paper.The method used in the research was
qualitative approach like reading journals, books, papers, interpreing phenomena and
virtual research by Internet, and according to the findings this analysis found that websites

Analysing critical success factors for supporting online shopping

Online shopping is nowadays is a highly frequent action but there are several critical factors that have to be considered for enabling websites and platforms to be able to offer all necessary requisites for guaranteeing user friendly, secure and also enjoyable shopping experiences to clients, offering them exactly what they expect to buy, and quickly find, among a huge offer available online. In this paper, a set of considered critical success factors are analysed on a set of top ranked websites, about luxurious furniture, to understand to what extent these critical factors are satisfied. Website quality: An analysis of scientific production
A range of different methods and tools have been proposed by both academics and professionals in recent years for evaluating the quality of websites. Some are of general application and can be used to assess any type of website, while others have been adapted to the specialized characteristics of the websites employed in a given sector. This paper undertakes an analysis of existing scientific production in this field, with the aim of identifying its most relevant publications, its principal authors and the specific sectors served by the sites under evaluation. By triangulating review methods, 716 texts, published between 2000 and 2018, were identified in Scopus, Web of Science and other databases and examined. In addition to basic bibliographic information, the number of citations received by each text was recorded using Google Scholar. The area of knowledge in which each author works was also categorized based on his or her specific affiliations. The results point to a growing interest in website quality in a scientific community that has a presence in more than 70 countries. Its authors are drawn from various disciplines, although the highest number of publications is recorded in computer science, business and medical informatics. The most frequently cited texts are in fact seminal books in the associated disciplines of usability, information architecture and user experience. However, as of 2007, the number of texts describing evaluation tools for the websites of specific sectors – most notably, education (33%), health (27%) and commerce (21%) – increased their share. In conclusion, it is evident that website quality is a field of study undergoing constant growth and increasing specialization and one that offers ample opportunities for research
Adopting E-Commerce to users’ needs
The objectives of this paper are to identify and analyse the extent to which the site is fulfilling all the user’s requirements and needs. The related works comprise the history of interactive design and the benefits of user-centered development, which is the methodology followed in this survey. Moreover, there is a brief comparison between Waterfall and User-centered methodology in terms of addressing the issues
of time saving and addressing fulfilment of users’ needs. The data required to conduct this study was acquired using two research methods; the questionnaire and direct user observation, in order to address all the performance related attributes in the usability stage of the evaluation. An evaluation of the website, based on statements of usability goals and criteria, was undertaken in relation to the implementation and testing of the new design. JARIR bookstore website was chosen as a case study in this
paper to investigate the usability and interactivity of the website design. The analysis section includes needs, users and tasks and data analysis, whereas the design phase covers the user interface and database design. At the end of this paper, some recommendations are presented regarding JARIR website that can be taken into account when developing the website in the future
Referencial para a caracterização de websites de hotéis de acordo com as necessidades dos consumidores
Online presence is essential for tourism organisations, and the quality of websites can influence customers. In the case of hotels, there are many studies to evaluate website performance based on functionality, usability and other factors, much less on the amount of different information available to the consumer. In the near future by using Big Data it is expected that hotel websites will be dynamic, they will adapt themselves on-the-fly, showing personalized information to each consumer. Different consumers will have different websites (information? available) from the same hotel. This paper presents a framework for the characterisation of hotel websites, focusing on the amount of information available to the consumer in each website, which was applied in a case study during the last months of 2013 to the websites of five-star hotels that operate in the tourist region of the Algarve, Portugal. The framework allowed to identify a set of exhaustive indicators for hotel website characterisation, which were then grouped into ten fundamental information dimensions. These dimensions further fell into four dimension groups. Finally, it is presented and discussed quantitative and qualitative evaluations, that illustrates which indicators and dimensions are more often considered on hotel websites to satisfy the consumer?s information needs
