The Efficacy of Modular Design in Healthcare

    Get PDF
Modular design has become an industry leading philosophy for the future of community-based health services. Modular construction applied as a design principle subdivides a construction system into independently fabricated units, similar in size, shape, and functionality to formulate a structure. The benefits of this approach include time-to-build efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality and precision, minimal impact, re-use, and modification. This process contradicts traditional construction, pre-fabricating spaces off site to be assembled later. Through correlational research and simulation software, products of modular and traditional construction methods can be compared using operational statistics. The modular approach to healthcare construction has potential to save lives and reduce the risk of patient discomfort. Utilizing these design principles to codify the inherent responsibility of modern healthcare. The purpose of this thesis is to study the efficacy of the current method of modularity among the industry with intention to refine the process for a safer, enjoyable, more efficient, and replicable solution

Por esta razón la propuesta planteada es evaluar proyectos productivos y su viabilidad mediante el análisis económico de los cultivos y actividad económica propia del municipio mediante modelos basados en agentes con información base de los anuarios estadísticos agropecuarios e información propia del municipio para así aterrizar los diferentes proyectos productivosThe agent-based models are a response that is configured to the understanding of phenomena and actions that arise from complexity and that simulate a number of processes that are emerging and that give a non-linear or parametric character to the behavior of interacting agents in a certain stipulated environment that is governed under programmable conditions. It is intrinsic to take into account that the models based on agents have a high degree of approximation and configuration of factors with respect to reality, since they are not characterized by being constituted in rigid or structured models; and they are based on the continuous and defined interaction of agents-environment to carry out or generate modeling processes that allow the incorporation of dynamic systems to support understanding and planning in territorial decisions. For this reason the proposed proposal is to evaluate productive projects and their viability through economic analysis of the crops and economic activity of the municipality through models based on agents with basic information of the agricultural statistical yearbooks and information of the municipality to land the different projects productiv

Statistical Physics of Vehicular Traffic and Some Related Systems

In the so-called "microscopic" models of vehicular traffic, attention is paid explicitly to each individual vehicle each of which is represented by a "particle"; the nature of the "interactions" among these particles is determined by the way the vehicles influence each others' movement. Therefore, vehicular traffic, modeled as a system of interacting "particles" driven far from equilibrium, offers the possibility to study various fundamental aspects of truly nonequilibrium systems which are of current interest in statistical physics. Analytical as well as numerical techniques of statistical physics are being used to study these models to understand rich variety of physical phenomena exhibited by vehicular traffic. Some of these phenomena, observed in vehicular traffic under different circumstances, include transitions from one dynamical phase to another, criticality and self-organized criticality, metastability and hysteresis, phase-segregation, etc. In this critical review, written from the perspective of statistical physics, we explain the guiding principles behind all the main theoretical approaches. But we present detailed discussions on the results obtained mainly from the so-called "particle-hopping" models, particularly emphasizing those which have been formulated in recent years using the language of cellular automata.Comment: 170 pages, Latex, figures include

Foreword: Congratulation to IGS on the continuous effort to publish the 11th issue of the Doctoral Research Abstracts which highlights the research in various disciplines from science and technology, business and administration to social science and humanities. This research abstract issue features the abstracts from 91 PhD doctorates who will receive their scrolls in this 86th UiTM momentous convocation ceremony. This is a special year for the Institute of Graduate Studies where we are celebrating our 20th anniversary. The 20th anniversary is celebrated with pride with an increase in the number of PhD graduates. In this 86th convocation, the number of PhD graduates has increased by 30% compared to the previous convocation. Each research produces an innovation and this year, 91 research innovations have been successfully recognized to have made contributions to the body of knowledge. This is in line with this year UiTM theme that is “Inovasi Melonjak Persaingan Global (Innovation Soars Global Competition)”. Embarking on PhD research may not have been an easy decision for many of you. It often comes at a point in life when the decision to further one’s studies is challenged by the comfort of status quo. I would like it to be known that you have most certainly done UiTM proud by journeying through the scholarly world with its endless challenges and obstacles, and by persevering right till the very end. Again, congratulations to all PhD graduates. As you leave the university as alumni we hope a new relationship will be fostered between you and UiTM to ensure UiTM soars to greater heights. I wish you all the best in your future endeavor. Keep UiTM close to your heart and be our ambassadors wherever you go. / Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr Hassan Said Vice Chancellor Universiti Teknologi MAR

This doctoral thesis proposes a bet to approach Territorial Planning from a way supported by socio-ecological systems, highly complex systems where biophysical phenomena and human decisions interact, where engineering contributes to the design of territorial surveys from systems engineering social, human development and governance through a computational artifact that enables the reconciliation of natural processes, social phenomena and relationships between different actors leading to the exploration of factual instruments as a contribution of engineering to territorial planning ethical and responsible. For the above, a brief review of land use planning in Colombia is carried out first, then the description of the proposed systemic approach, and finally the MBA ISASHII is applied to the solution of various problems in Bogotá.Doctor en IngenieríaDoctorad
