A new and finite family of solutions of hydrodynamics: Part II: Advanced estimate of initial energy densities
We derive a new, exact formula for the estimate of the initial energy
densities from a new family of finite and exact solution of relativistic
perfect fluid hydrodynamics. The new formula depends non-trivially on the speed
of sound and on the shape or width parameter of the measured (pseudo)rapidity
distribution.Comment: Invited talk of G. Kasza at the WPCF 2018 conference in Cracow,

Partitioning Perfect Graphs into Stars
The partition of graphs into "nice" subgraphs is a central algorithmic
problem with strong ties to matching theory. We study the partitioning of
undirected graphs into same-size stars, a problem known to be NP-complete even
for the case of stars on three vertices. We perform a thorough computational
complexity study of the problem on subclasses of perfect graphs and identify
several polynomial-time solvable cases, for example, on interval graphs and
bipartite permutation graphs, and also NP-complete cases, for example, on grid
graphs and chordal graphs.Comment: Manuscript accepted to Journal of Graph Theor
On the threshold-width of graphs
The GG-width of a class of graphs GG is defined as follows. A graph G has
GG-width k if there are k independent sets N1,...,Nk in G such that G can be
embedded into a graph H in GG such that for every edge e in H which is not an
edge in G, there exists an i such that both endpoints of e are in Ni. For the
class TH of threshold graphs we show that TH-width is NP-complete and we
present fixed-parameter algorithms. We also show that for each k, graphs of
TH-width at most k are characterized by a finite collection of forbidden
induced subgraphs
Defective Coloring on Classes of Perfect Graphs
In Defective Coloring we are given a graph and two integers ,
and are asked if we can -color so that the maximum
degree induced by any color class is at most . We show that this
natural generalization of Coloring is much harder on several basic graph
classes. In particular, we show that it is NP-hard on split graphs, even when
one of the two parameters , is set to the smallest possible
fixed value that does not trivialize the problem ( or ). Together with a simple treewidth-based DP algorithm this completely
determines the complexity of the problem also on chordal graphs. We then
consider the case of cographs and show that, somewhat surprisingly, Defective
Coloring turns out to be one of the few natural problems which are NP-hard on
this class. We complement this negative result by showing that Defective
Coloring is in P for cographs if either or is fixed; that
it is in P for trivially perfect graphs; and that it admits a sub-exponential
time algorithm for cographs when both and are unbounded
Exploring Subexponential Parameterized Complexity of Completion Problems
Let be a family of graphs. In the -Completion problem,
we are given a graph and an integer as input, and asked whether at most
edges can be added to so that the resulting graph does not contain a
graph from as an induced subgraph. It appeared recently that special
cases of -Completion, the problem of completing into a chordal graph
known as Minimum Fill-in, corresponding to the case of , and the problem of completing into a split graph,
i.e., the case of , are solvable in parameterized
subexponential time . The exploration of this
phenomenon is the main motivation for our research on -Completion.
In this paper we prove that completions into several well studied classes of
graphs without long induced cycles also admit parameterized subexponential time
algorithms by showing that:
- The problem Trivially Perfect Completion is solvable in parameterized
subexponential time , that is -Completion for , a cycle and a path on four
vertices.
- The problems known in the literature as Pseudosplit Completion, the case
where , and Threshold Completion, where , are also solvable in time .
We complement our algorithms for -Completion with the following
lower bounds:
- For , , , and
, -Completion cannot be solved in time
unless the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH) fails.
Our upper and lower bounds provide a complete picture of the subexponential
parameterized complexity of -Completion problems for .Comment: 32 pages, 16 figures, A preliminary version of this paper appeared in
