This book is a compilation of some opinion articles published in Bauen_blog (a reference to the blog network dedicated to libraries and architecture) by Daniel Gil alone, librarian and documentary on the challenges and future of libraries its buildings. To sumarize up the content of this book, it is best to use the words of Ferran Moreno, prologue of the work, so that the sums set of ideas and thoughts that exposes the text: "The angular library" is precisely a reflection on the areas of libraries and their future structured in three sections. The first, "The public library," we are presented the evolution of the buildings and facilities of the libraries to become the so-called ubiquitous library, a library ubiquitous and adaptable to new realities; a library that has been an instrument of social engineering that has evolved into virtual reality with all the changes that this causes. The second, "The library as place" is the largest and tries to offer an overview of the value of the physical library and its evolution, always in the context of virtualization that makes the library to become a hybrid space, a transitional space between the analog world and the digital world. The third, "library without books" immerses us in the future an empty library of books as we know it today and be completely rethink: must rethink the possible uses that could give space , how to build and design these spaces, what services it can offer, such offer access to information; In short, what is the role of libraries and librarians in the future without books in libraries which seems leads the digitization of information. And how will this future? In the "Afterword" found a possible answer to the question with a kind of center that has been set up and could be the future of libraries

The development of information and communication technology significantly determines how enterprises conduct their activities. The use of ICT solutions is visible in each area of the functioning of enterprises, in particular in activities aimed at promotion of products and services. The aim of all promotional activities is to exercise influence on the current and future customers of a company. They involve providing customers with information to increase their knowledge about the products and services and the company itself. In today's digital economic life, in order to reach potential customers and retain the existing ones, companies have to observe and quickly adapt ICT solutions. Key ICT solutions include social media, which have had a significant impact on both the social and economic life. The growing number of social media users contributed to changes in the form and way of communicating and building mutual relations. Moreover, the final say on many issues belongs more and more often to people for whom Internet communication is an integral part of life, which undoubtedly is a clear signal that preferences of today's and future consumers are undergoing a diametrical change. This change in consumers' preferences, expectations and needs forces enterprises to use effective ways of communication and new forms of providing information to a specific target group. Social media users constitute an increasing group that often actively joins promotional activities undertaken by a company. In addition, the social media environment enables presentation of information that is characterised by high quality, elaborate content and interesting form (text, photos, animation or films). These are only some of the factors in favour of the use of social media in the promotional activity of enterprises. However, the modern reality as well as extended functionality and variety of  social media are on the one hand conducive to building and maintaining relations with customers, while on the other hand, they requires appropriate preparation of a strategy of action in a new, virtual economic world. The aim of the paper is to analyse, based on literature studies, the assumptions of enterprises' strategies of action in the social media environment, with particular reference to fanpage. Based on the results of own studies of a group of 172 Polish users of social media conducted at the end of 2015, key actions taken by users on fanpages were indicated, and significant elements influencing the proper structure of fanpage from the user's perspective were presented. Keywords: Information and communication technology (ICT), social media, fanpage, promotion, products and service

Libraries and Museums in the Flat World: Are They Becoming Virtual Destinations?

    Get PDF
In his recent book, “TheWorld is Flat”, Thomas L. Friedman reviews the impact of networks on globalization. The emergence of the Internet, web browsers, computer applications talking to each other through the Internet, and the open source software, among others, made the world flatter and created an opportunity for individuals to collaborate and compete globally. Friedman predicts that “connecting all the knowledge centers on the planet together into a single global network…could usher in an amazing era of prosperity and innovation”. Networking also is changing the ways by which libraries and museums provide access to information sources and services. In the flat world, libraries and museums are no longer a physical “place” only: they are becoming “virtual destinations”. This paper discusses the implications of this transformation for the digitization and preservation of, and access to, cultural heritage resources
