The applied model of kansei engineering, servqual, kano, and triz considering ergo-sustainability: A case study on international airport services
With respect to Ergonomics sustainability (Ergo-sustainability) concerns, this study focuses on how to model customer emotional needs (known as Kansei) with service-based performance and experience, taking into account the Kano model and TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) to filter and refine the improvement concepts effectively, efficiently, and without contradiction. This model has been applied into an international airport services. By involving 100 subjects, it was found out that mostly passengers experienced the Kansei âHappyâ, and perceived the service attribute âThe availability of security in the airport lounge and lobbyâ as the most critical one, subjected to Kano attractive [A] category, importance and satisfaction score. By incorporating TRIZ and Ergo-sustainability concept, providing a porous security system and video-based metal detection security checking procedure in the airport lounge and lobby were deemed of critical. This finding will bring benefits to airport authority, even for any service designers with less experience dependency.

The modified Kansei Engineering-based application for sustainable service design
Considering the human-centered design, this paper shows a modified-integrated approach of how to quantify the impact of perceived Kanoâs attractive services on perceived emotional satisfaction (Kansei), followed by the formulation of innovative ideas for sustainable services using TRIZ (known as Theory of Inventive Problem Solving). The Kanoâs attractive service attribute is deemed to be a significant emotional booster (known as Kansei). Kansei Engineering (KE) is used to highlight the level of customer emotional satisfaction due to perceived service offerings. For the past seven years, there has been a rapid concern in Kansei Engineering (KE) in services. However, previous research of KE has mainly focused on the improvement and analysis of general service domains. There is little attention to sustainable services. Hence, this study provides a modified KE-based approach and aims to understand and satisfy customer emotional needs (Kansei) considering the social, envi- ronmental and economic performance. An empirical study in an international airport lounge and lobby services was conducted to confirm the applicability of the proposed model. Purposive sampling through in-depth- interview and face-to-face questionnaires which involved 100 valid subjects was used. Theoretically, these studies show the importance of Kanseiâs role in sustainable service development, highlighting more innovative and breakthrough solutions with less contradiction and âtrue-meaningâ of Kansei. Practically, it provides a guideline for service designer and manager in identifying which attractive-based service attributes need to be prioritized considering Kansei satisfaction
A UX model for the evaluation of learners' experience on lms platforms over time
Although user experience (UX) is dynamic and evolves over time, prior research reported that the learners' experience models developed so far were only for the static evaluation of learners' experiences. So far, no model has been developed for the dynamic summative evaluation of the UX of LMS platforms over time. The objective of this study is to build a UX model that will be used to evaluate learners' experience on LMS over time. The study reviewed relevant literature with the goal of conceptualizing a theoretical model. The Stimuli-Organism-Response (SOR) framework was deployed to model the experience engineering process. To verify the model, 6 UX experts were involved. The model was also validated using a quasi-experimental design involving 900 students. The evaluation was conducted in four time points, once a week for four weeks. From the review, a conceptual UX model was developed for the evaluation of learners' experience with LMS design over time. The outcome of the model verification shows that the experts agreed that the model is adequate for the evaluation of learners' experience on LMS. The results of the model validation indicate that the model was highly statistically significant over time (Week 1: x2(276) = 273 I 9.339, Week2: x2(276) = 23419.626, Week3: x2(276) =18941.900, Week4: x2(276) = 27580.397, p=000<0.01). Each design quality had strong positive effects on the learners' cognitive, sensorimotor and affective states respectively. Furthermore, each of the three organismic states: cognitive, sensorimotor, and affective, had strong positive influence on learners' overall learning experience. These results imply that the experience engineering process was successful. The study fills a significant gap in knowledge by contributing a novel UX model for the evaluation of learners' experience on LMS platforms over time. UX quality assurance practitioners can also utilize the model in the verification and validation of learner experience over tim

Designing intelligent language tutoring system for learning Chinese characters
The purposes of this research are to explore 1) the design and usability of the interface for an intelligent tutoring system for recognition of Chinese characters, 2) the pedagogical effectiveness of different forms of information presentation and feedback. A prototype system (an iPad Chinese character tutor) was developed and was evaluated for its effectiveness and usability. In the evaluation test, two groups were given 34 Chinese characters and phrases to learn using two different versions of the system. Version A contained a metaphor-based pedagogy, feedback, and extra instructions; Version B did not. Participantsâ learning performance and survey results were used to measure the effectiveness and usability of the system. Learning performance of the group who used Version A was statistically significantly better than that of the Version B group. Participants surveyed rated Version A significantly higher than Version B on several constructs, including usability, satisfaction, functionality, and usefulness. This study lays the foundation for the development of an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) for Chinese learning
Family language stories and second language learning : an ethnographic study of the influence of perceptions of family language history on second language learning
This research explores studentsâ stories about their family language histories and aims to understand how their understanding and perception of such stories influence their learning of Mandarin as a second language. Family language stories include accounts of family origins, background, and attitudes and practices with respect to language learning. My research is a qualitative, ethnographic study underpinned by the theoretical framework of constructivism. Case study is the method used to structure the research and collect the data. In this study, I focus on six Grade Six students who participated in a bilingual program offered by Morning Orchid Public School in Sydney, Australia in 2017. I interpret and analyse the relationship between these studentsâ family language stories and their Mandarin learning outcomes. I describe some of the ways this influence can take place. The family language stories of these students confirm my intuition that family language stories and childrenâs second language learning are related, as these studentsâ stories can be shown to have influenced their learning outcomes in the study of Mandarin as a second language in very particular ways, albeit not all in the same way. I have identified three important patterns of such family stories that appear to have a significant impact on learning outcomes, namely, ethnic identity, mimetic desire, and the level of family interest in Chinese culture
Influence of employer support for professional development on MOOCs enrolment and completion: Results from a cross-course survey
Although the potential of open education and MOOCs for professional development is usually recognized, it has not yet been explored extensively. How far employers support non-formal learning is still an open question. This paper presents the findings of a survey-based study which focuses on the influence of employer support for (general) professional development on employeesâ use of MOOCs. Findings show that employers are usually unaware that their employees are participating in MOOCs. In addition, employer support for general professional development is positively associated with employees completing MOOCs and obtaining certificates for them. However, the relationship between employer support and MOOC enrollment is less clear: workers who have more support from their employers tend to enroll in either a low or a high number of MOOCs. Finally, the promotion of a minimum of ICT skills by employers is shown to be an effective way of encouraging employee participation in the open education ecosystem.JRC.J.3-Information Societ
Firm Characteristics and Corporate Social Responsibility Practices in Nigerian Listed Firms: An Empirical Investigation
In recent past, Corporate Social Responsibility has been a fundamental subject of
discussion in academic literatures because of its vital contribution to sustainable development. In
line with this assertion, this study assessed the corporate social responsibility (CSR) performances
of listed companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). A cross-sectional research design was
adopted for the study and secondary data compiled from the annual reports of those companies were
used for the analysis. The study employed multiple regression estimation technique to analyse the
CSR ratings of sixteen (16) companies used as the basis of investigation. The study found that while
market capitalization had a positive significant relationship with corporate social responsibility
practice, period of existence on the listing of Nigerian Stock Exchange had a negative relationship.
Also, the industrial goods sector had a positive significant relationship with CSR practice while the
oil and gas sector had a significant negative relationship. It is therefore recommended that activist
groups, NGOs and community leaders should be more dynamic to challenge organizations to do
more for their communitie
Adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards and Market Performance of Listed Banks in Nigeria
Abstract. The objective of this study is to examine the effect of the adoption of IFRS on the market
performance of banks in Nigeria. Secondary data were acquired from the financial statement of 15
money deposit banks listed on floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) while regression and
paired sample test analyses were used to determine the association between the adoption of IFRS
and the market performance of listed money deposit Banks in Nigeria. The study found a positive
and significant relationship between the adoption of IFRS and the market performance of listed
money deposit banks in Nigeria proxy by Dividend pay-out (DPO) and Dividend Yield (DY).
Furthermore, the paired sample test result indicates a significant difference exists between Dividend
pay-out (DPO) and the adoption of IFRS while no significant difference exists between Dividend
Yield (DY) and the adoption of IFRS. Thus, the study recommends that the global adoption of
International Financial Reporting Standards particularly in developing economies like Nigeria
should be properly implemented and studied, so as to keep abreast with the various changes the
would likely affect the market performance of the Nigerian Banking industry
