    Business Intelligence: An Innovative Technological Way to Influence Corporate Entrepreneurship

    Adaptation to dynamism and complex environments in today’s Knowledge Society is key for firms to survive and improve their positions. This paper applies business intelligence (BI) to the firm to shape its organizational design and improve its performance. The paper also relates business intelligence to organizational performance management through organizational learning (OL), knowledge management (KM) and the technological competencies of the company’s employees and managers. Theoretical study of the main current research serves as the basis for the development of several propositions to fill the gaps in knowledge of business intelligence. Finally, the paper presents conclusions about application of business intelligence in firms

    [ES] La presente investigación tiene por objetivo analizar el historial de aprendizaje de los líderes empresariales del sector productivo, denominada biografía tecnológica. La intención de la biografía tecnológica es el construir una ruta de aprendizaje de quienes están al frente de la industria. La metodología de evaluación se define con un enfoque cuantitativo, orientado a la etnografía digital. Se realiza una intervención aplicando un instrumento de medición en base a la autopercepción de los líderes participantes. En el análisis se profundiza sobre las habilidades y la intensidad de uso de herramientas tecnológicas, mismas que se distinguen por brindar soluciones a las empresas, eficientando sus procesos internos y externos. El caso de estudio se enfoca en la industria de las energías renovables, seleccionada por el impacto del sector a nivel mundial y por considerarse uno de los principales gremios de desarrollo en México. Se estudian las pequeñas y medianas empresas en el estado de Baja California, ubicado en el límite territorial del norte de México, uno de los estados con mayor potencial para la generación de energía renovable en el país, debido a sus condiciones geográficas y naturales, con proyectos de energía solar, eólica, geotérmica, mareomotriz y de biomasa. Los resultados de la biografía tecnológica dan evidencias positivas, debido a que exponen competencias tecnológicas a un nivel alto de los líderes respecto a la interacción con dispositivos y aplicaciones.     The role of management support in promoting corporate entrepreneurship within SME's in the seafreight transport industry

    Management support is widely reported to be a contributor to influencing corporate entrepreneurship within organisations. Managerial support and attitude are described as having a direct positive link on the levels of corporate entrepreneurial activity exhibited in organisations. This paper provides an overview of the role of managerial support within Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the seafreight transport industry. A questionnaire, adapted from the Corporate Entrepreneurial Climate Instrument (CECI), developed by Morris, Kuratko & Covin (2008), was distributed to organisations of differing sizes in the seafreight transport sector. The questionnaire measured key antecedents of corporate entrepreneurship. Data was analysed by means of a one-way between-groups ANOVA. Results indicate that managerial support for corporate entrepreneurship in the sampled SMEs is relatively low. Results further indicate that as an SME increases in size, its level of management support for corporate entrepreneurship improves. Respondents under the age of 30 perceived a higher level of support than their older counterparts. This paper provides recommendations regarding initiatives SMEs can undertake to improve managerial support levels.     El objetivo del presente trabajo fue establecer la relación entre el conflicto y el cambio social derivado de los procesos migratorios en una comunidad huasteca. A partir de análisis de discurso en torno a la travesía, estancia y retorno, se ponderaron aquellos relativos a la identidad molar definida como los usos y costumbres significativos para alguno de los tres procesos migratorios. En referencia al contexto socioeconómico, se interpretaron símbolos de identidad en referencia a la tradición de empleo, edificación del patrimonio y apropiación de plazas. Los resultados permitirán establecer criterios de discusión en torno a la migración, identidad y desarrollo local. Se espera que las interpretaciones realizadas puedan contribuir a la construcción de una agenda municipal en materia de empleo, salud, recreación y sustentabilidad.Facultad de Trabajo Socia

    Internal Determinants Promoting Corporate Entrepreneurship in Established Organizations: A Systematic Literature Review

    Due to the increasing dynamics and complexity in the corporate environment, the importance of Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) for the development and long-term sustainability of established companies' competitive advantages is continuously increasing. However, the literature still lacks a CE framework that consolidates and integrates the different research findings illustrating the impact of particular CE drivers. We conduct a systematic literature review of the current CE research to ascertain which internal determinants promote CE in established organizations and how they nurture creativity and innovation. Building on a four-dimensional CE framework, we identify several central determinants of CE and provide practitioners in established organizations with guidelines for successful implementation of CE. By identifying several topical and outstanding issues, the paper encourages further debate and research activity. Implications for Central European audience: This paper advanced the current CE research by systematically consolidating and integrating top management literature invoking multiple research streams and discussing several directions for further research. The developed framework reflects the current state of CE research and hence can serve as a guide for successful implementation of CE in established organizations, as well as for further investigation of the CE concept. Thus, this paper makes an important contribution to solving the puzzle of successful implementation of CE in established corporations.O

    Relationship of training and development, political interference, technological advancement and, organizational support: a study of Punjab Police (Pakistan)

    This study intended to examine the relationship of political interference, technological advancement and training and development with the moderating effect of organizational support on the performance of Punjab police Pakistan. Besides, this study used the quantitative research approach for gathering of data. In the lieu of this, 159 survey questionnaires were collected from SHOs (Station House Officers) of Punjab police (Pakistan). Moreover, PLS-SEM and SPSS techniques were applied to scrutinize the data. The findings of the present study showed the significant positive effect of technological advancement and training & development on the performance of Punjab police, meanwhile, on the other hand, the political interference negatively affecting the performance of Punjab police (Pakistan). Also, the findings of the study exhibited the significant moderating effect of organizational support in the instance of technological advancement and training & development but in the case of political interference moderation did not play any role

    Social media use and the challenge of complexity: evidence from the technology sector.

    Social Media encourages networks in the complex and dynamic environment within which firms are immersed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role and impact of Social Media on complexity variables and organizational performance. More specifically, we explore the presence of elements of “spontaneous order creation”: heterogeneous agents with motives to connect with each other, and their impact on innovativeness and dissipative structures. The research model was tested on a sample of 201 technology firms through Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Our research contributes to extant literature by exploring the impact of digitally enabled networks (Social Media) on complexity dynamics through analysis of their influence on firm performance.
