ooDACE toolbox: a flexible object-oriented Kriging implementation

    Get PDF
When analyzing data from computationally expensive simulation codes, surrogate modeling methods are firmly established as facilitators for design space exploration, sensitivity analysis, visualization and optimization. Kriging is a popular surrogate modeling technique used for the Design and Analysis of Computer Experiments (DACE). Hence, the past decade Kriging has been the subject of extensive research and many extensions have been proposed, e.g., co-Kriging, stochastic Kriging, blind Kriging, etc. However, few Kriging implementations are publicly available and tailored towards scientists and engineers. Furthermore, no Kriging toolbox exists that unifies several Kriging flavors. This paper addresses this need by presenting an efficient object-oriented Kriging implementation and several Kriging extensions, providing a flexible and easily extendable framework to test and implement new Kriging flavors while reusing as much code as possible

A network emulator is a software in its environment mimicking the functions and habits of the original network. Problems often encountered in doing research on computer networks is a problem of design and trial scenarios that require software and hardware enough to implement such a network  scenario  similar  to  a  real  scenario.  Using  virtual machine technology is expected to solve the problem. Netkit supports experiments with various network technologies and can support other technologies necessary for certain network experiments. This study uses a network emulator with netkit, where it is freely available and built based on Linux User Mode. Netkit  allows  users  to  experiment  with  complex   computer network scenarios that can be easily implemented using linux. The experimental research is done by making the design first. The design is used to implement the routing process, to connect 4 different network addresses. On the Netkit implementation of the design, it is implemented by creating a virtual routing lab based on   data   from   computer   network   topologies.   The   virtual laboratory implementation of this research routing is based on a network topology scenario. The results of these virtual routing lab experiments, the routing process runs well on the network based on predetermined test scenarios, with the occurrence of connections between different network addresses..In the end the virtual routing lab implementation works well, with performance analysis results from the netkit emulator on the use of computer resources showing Usage CPU usage of 0% and Memory Usage averaging 20942.8k test time for 12 minutes. The results of this trial is very helpful for administrators before the implementation on the real networ

Physics learning is inseparable from experiments. Some teachers have not been able to provide experimental tools in schools. One of the materials that requires experimental tools is Pascal's Law. The solution provided is in the form of developing a Pascal's law experimental tool using the R & D method. The development is using the ADDIE model which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The aim of this research is to investigate the results of the implementation of the Pascal's law experimental tool. Data collection instruments with pre-test, post-test, student worksheet, and student response questionnaires. The sample was taken from one class of 20 class 11 physics students at West Java. The questions on the pre-test and student worksheet totaled 7 items and 10 questions respectively. The student response questionnaire consisted of four aspects, namely aspects of ease of use, attractiveness, efficiency, and suitability of the material. Overall, the indicators totaled 11 items which were distributed using Google Form to students. The results of the analysis show that there is a change in the results of the students' pre-test and post-test with an N-Gain of 0.24 (low category). The results of the student response questionnaire analysis are 79.51%. This indicates that the tools developed are practical and can be used in learning physics, especially Pascal's law. Future research is expected to be able to see a comparison of student learning outcomes using the Pascal's law experimental tool directly with a virtual experiment with PhET.Physics learning is inseparable from experiments. This research aims to find out the influence of expository learning strategies on the storytelling ability of students of grade IV SDN 32 Cakranegara. This study is an experimental study to look for the influence of expository learning strategies on storytelling skills. This type of research is a type of quantitative research that is by using Quasi design experiments. The experimental design form used in this study was a nonequivalent control group design. This method of data collection uses tests. This method of data analysis is Descriptive Statistical Analysis which describes the implementation of learning syntax. In the data collection of this study, there are prerequisites for data analysis, namely by conducting data normality tests using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, homogeneity test using Levene, and hypothesis test using independent sample T-test. The hypothesis results in this study are sig 2-tailed < 0.05 which is 0,000 < 0.05 at a significant level of 0.05 in accordance with the hypothesis testing criteria that sig 2 tailed < 0.05 then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while hypothesis zero (H0) is rejected. This means that there is a significant difference in storytelling skills between the students of the experimental group and the control group. Thus, it is stated that expository learning strategies can be applied to improve the storytelling skills of grade IV elementary school students

Due to the increasing quantity of data collected by Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) assets and the focus on timely access to the data collected by these systems, operational data transfer network architectures have become a critical component of their employment in the intelligence production process. Efficient utilization of the provided long-haul communications component of the ISR system improves the value of the single asset to the warfighter and enables connectivity of additional assets via the data transfer network architecture. This research effort focused on the creation and implementation of a structured test design methodology based on the principles of Design of Experiments to propose recommendations for optimization of one such operational architecture while avoiding the common pitfalls of inadequate and inefficient test design and implementation. Factors that could influence the performance of the data transfer network architecture were researched and evaluated to recommend the factors of interest that most greatly affect the efficiency of the operational architecture. To support this evaluation, an emulated network testbed was utilized to develop a representative model of system efficiency. The results of this model indicate that increased aggressiveness for data transfer leads to decreased efficiency in the attempt to utilize available network resources, especially in realm of operations under study that represent non-traditional bandwidth delay product (BDP) networks where network delay is the dominating factor in the determination of BDP. The analysis documented a baseline model of system performance that will be used to guide ongoing maintenance, sustainment and enhancement efforts for the current data transfer capability and provides insight into the recommended test design process for use in development and deployment of future capabilities. The ability to model system performance through the use of a structured and straight-forward process allows for the inclusion of the test design and analysis process in software design and development, as well as, system deployment and operations improvements
