An Outline of Security in Wireless Sensor Networks: Threats, Countermeasures and Implementations
With the expansion of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the need for securing
the data flow through these networks is increasing. These sensor networks allow
for easy-to-apply and flexible installations which have enabled them to be used
for numerous applications. Due to these properties, they face distinct
information security threats. Security of the data flowing through across
networks provides the researchers with an interesting and intriguing potential
for research. Design of these networks to ensure the protection of data faces
the constraints of limited power and processing resources. We provide the
basics of wireless sensor network security to help the researchers and
engineers in better understanding of this applications field. In this chapter,
we will provide the basics of information security with special emphasis on
WSNs. The chapter will also give an overview of the information security
requirements in these networks. Threats to the security of data in WSNs and
some of their counter measures are also presented
Nuclear Power Plant
This lesson introduces students to the basics of nuclear energy production. Topics include radioisotope thermoelectric generators, natural decay of radioactive isotopes, and chain reactions. There is also a discussion of how to control a chain reaction and some concepts of reactor design. The lesson includes an activity in which students operate an online simulation of a nuclear power plant, attempting to keep power output as high as possible without losing control of the reaction. Educational levels: Undergraduate lower division, High school
M[pi]log, Macromodeling via parametric identification of logic gates
This paper addresses the development of computational models of digital integrated circuit input and output buffers via the identification of nonlinear parametric models. The obtained models run in standard circuit simulation environments, offer improved accuracy and good numerical efficiency, and do not disclose information on the structure of the modeled devices. The paper reviews the basics of the parametric identification approach and illustrates its most recent extensions to handle temperature and supply voltage variations as well as power supply ports and tristate devices
The Basics of Power: An analysis of United States’ Economic Power
Academic, public and political debates on terminology and the exercise of power associate this phenomenon with the effects felt by the countries involved. The topic creates interest, controversy and diverse approaches of specialists, as it involves an analysis of the distribution of power in different structures of society, but also among the main actors of the international system. Interesting is also the evolution of power within this system in the direction of multipolarity, bipolarity, unipolarity and multipolarity, in which states have maintained or changed positions among themselves. The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of the economic dimension of power on its other components. The study is a quantitative one, in which the economic influence of American power is pursued on the social, political, cultural, technological and military components of power. Knowing this influence is essential in order to achieve a hierarchy of power typology according to the importance and implications for states, especially for international actors such as the United States, where all categories of power meet
Noise characteristics of passive components for phased array applications
The results of a comparative study on noise characteristics of basic power combining/dividing and phase shifting schemes are presented. The theoretical basics of thermal noise in a passive linear multiport are discussed. A new formalism is presented to describe the noise behavior of the passive circuits, and it is shown that the fundamental results are conveniently achieved using this description. The results of analyses concerning the noise behavior of basic power combining/dividing structures (the Wilkinson combiner, 90 deg hybrid coupler, hybrid ring coupler, and the Lange coupler) are presented. Three types of PIN-diode switch phase shifters are analyzed in terms of noise performance

Tato práce se zabývá základy stability a ovládání napájení systému, jako základní ekonomické a technické provedení (jeho omezení, zákonů, norem a požadavků a topologie), základy napětí a řízení frekvence, stručné vysvětlení výpadků a ostrovnímu a jak WAMS může představovat řešení problémů výkon systému.This thesis is about the basics of Power System stability and control, such as basic economic and technical design (constraints, laws, standards and requirements, and topologies), basics of voltage and frequency control, brief explanation of blackouts and islanding, and how WAMS may present a solution to power system problems
Guaranteeing the trouble-free operation of capacitor banks in power-supply systems of industrial enterprises
The problem of resonance phenomena in power systems of industrial enterprises using capacitor banks for reactive power compensation was detected. Circuit of the capacitor banks tier to downshift main substation tires ispresent. But there is no common algorithm to calculate and avoid such trouble. The main goal of this article is to introduce some basics for power supply systems with possible resonant circuits engineering
A New Theory of Economic Systems and Its Application to Economic Policy Studies
The basics of a new theory of economic systems are proposed in this article as a fundamental synthetic field of economics. This theory proposes to unify a description of economic phenomena usually studied by different areas of economics: economic agents, i.e., legal and physical entities, formal and informal institutions, economic processes, and projects. A basic classification of economic systems is developed, their key functions are defined, and the need for power parity of the basic types of economic systems is proved. The results obtained are used to classify the types of national economic policy and elaborate measures aimed at preventing crisis phenomena and building a well-balanced economy.
VLSI Testing and Test Power
This paper first reviews the basics of VLSI testing, focusing on test generation and design for testability. Then it discusses the impact of test power in scan testing, and highlights the need for low-power VLSI testing.2011 International Green Computing Conference and Workshops (IGCC 2011), July 25-28, 2011, Orlando, FL, US
The future Clean Energy Harvesting by Wind Power Generation
The electricity generation today is the major issue toward development of human mankind. The current electricity generation depends almost completely on the fissile fuels like coal, petroleum products etc. we are using it in very large scale resulting in pollution and high cost of electricity. The non-conventional methods like solar & wind is being developed on the scale where its use is affordable and pollution free, without any side effects. In this paper we have discussed the basics of wind power generation and the technologies involved in the process. The overall energy harvesting by wind power plants and transmitting it into usable form can solve the electricity problems, In country like India where electricity demand is estimated to increase at least 30% in next 5 to 10 years. This process involves the complex engineering and out of which some of the basics aspects like capacity , stricter of turbines, Synchronous generators are discussed briefly along with the basic components of the Wind Power Generation.
