    What does Hirsch index evolution explain us? A case study: Turkish Journal of Chemistry

    The evolution of Turkish Journal of Chemistry (Turk J. Chem) Hirsch index (h-index) over the period 1995-2005 is studied and determined in the case of the self and without self-citations. It is seen that the effect of Hirsch index of Turk J. Chem has a highly positive trend during the last five years. It proves that Turk J. Chem is improving itself both in quantity and quality since h-index reflects peer review, and peer review reflects research quality of a journal.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure

    Der Sammelband ist die erste Publikation, die im Rahmen des Göttinger Sonderforschungsbereichs 529 Internationalität nationaler Literaturen innerhalb der Projekteinheit B: Europäische Literaturen im Netzwerk internationaler Diskurse entstanden ist. Er enthält fünfzehn Beiträge eines Workshops von 1997, worin es einesteils um die Präsentation von Ansätzen der "Internationalitätsforschung" ging, anderenteils darum, Perspektiven für die weitere Forschungsarbeit im Sonderforschungsbereich 529 und für dessen Folgepublikationen zu eröffnen. Dafür erschien den Projektverantwortlichen die Frage nach "Kulturellen Grenzziehungen" geeignet, "um die Perspektiven der beteiligten Philologien, einschließlich der Komparatistik, im Kontext aktueller kulturwissenschaftlicher Debatten zusammenzuführen" (S. 7). Der Band wird durch einen umfangreichen Einführungsessay von Roberto Simanowski "Zum Problem kultureller Grenzziehung" eingeleitet. Dem Kontext und Anlaß entsprechend haben die Beiträge explorativen Charakter und sind sowohl inhaltlich wie kulturgeographisch weit ausgreifend. Von den beteiligten Disziplinen her reicht das Spektrum in den jeweiligen Varianten von Fremdsprachen- oder Muttersprachenphilologien von der Germanistik, Romanistik und Slavistik über die Komparatistik bis hin zur Sinologie mit Fachvertretern aus Deutschland, Frankreich, Polen, Indien, den USA und Marokk

    Larutan Turk memiliki komposisi salah satunya yaitu asam asetat glasial. Jeruk Nipis (C. aurantifolia S.) adalah jenis citrus yang mempunyai kandungan asam sitrat dengan pH 2,0. Kedua bahan itu adalah asam lemah yang mampu melisiskan sel darah selain leukosit. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian eksperimen, dengan populasi 35 pasien di Laboratorium RS Hasanah Graha Afiah. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapat persamaan pada hubungan antara variasi konsentrasi air perasan jeruk nipis 1 % dengan larutan Turk yaitu dengan nilai R Square = 0,8977, hubungan antara variasi konsentrasi air perasan jeruk nipis 2 % dengan larutan Turk yaitu dengan nilai R Square = 0,9978, pada hubungan antara variasi konsentrasi air perasan jeruk nipis 3 % dengan larutan Turk yaitu dengan nilai R Square = 0,9109, pada hubungan antara variasi konsentrasi air perasan jeruk nipis 4 % dengan larutan Turk yaitu dengan nilai R Square = 0,7005, pada hubungan antara variasi konsentrasi air perasan jeruk nipis 5 % dengan larutan Turk yaitu dengan nilai R Square = 0,4492. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variasi konsentrasi air perasan jeruk nipis mampu digunakan sebagai pengganti komposisi larutan Turk. Pada penelitian ini variasi konsentrasi 2% adalah konsentrasi paling efektif dibandingkan dengan variasi konsentrasi yang lain, karena hasil yang diperoleh tidak jauh berbeda dengan hasil yang diperoleh oleh dari larutan kontrol (larutan Turk)

    Although Mechanical Turk has recently become popular among social scientists as a source of experimental data, doubts may linger about the quality of data provided by subjects recruited from online labor markets. We address these potential concerns by presenting new demographic data about the Mechanical Turk subject population, reviewing the strengths of Mechanical Turk relative to other online and offline methods of recruiting subjects, and comparing the magnitude of effects obtained using Mechanical Turk and traditional subject pools. We further discuss some additional benefits such as the possibility of longitudinal, cross cultural and prescreening designs, and offer some advice on how to best manage a common subject pool

    High-Entropy Polar Regions Around the First Protostars

    We report on simulations of the formation of the first stars in the Universe, where we identify regions of hot atomic gas (fH2 < 10-6) at densities above 10-14 g/cc, heated to temperatures ranging between 3000 and 8000 K. Within this temperature range atomic hydrogen is unable to cool effectively. We describe the kinetic and thermal characteristics of these regions and investigate their origin. We find that these regions, while small in total mass fraction of the cloud, may be dynamically important over the accretion timescale for the central clump in the cloud, particularly as a chemical, rather than radiative, mechanism for clearing the polar regions of the accretion disk of material and terminating accretion along these directions. These inherently three-dimensional effects stress the need for multi-dimensional calculations of protostellar accretion for reliable predictions of the masses of the very first stars.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures; accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Letter
