    Stability and Sensitivity Analysis of a Plant Disease Model with Continuous Cultural Control Strategy

    In this paper, a plant disease model with continuous cultural control strategy and time delay is formulated. Then, how the time delay affects the overall disease progression and, mathematically, how the delay affects the dynamics of the model are investigated. By analyzing the transendental characteristic equation, stability conditions related to the time delay are derived for the disease-free equilibrium. Specially, when R0=1, the Jacobi matrix of the model at the disease-free equilibrium always has a simple zero eigenvalue for all τ≥0. The center manifold reduction and the normal form theory are used to discuss the stability and the steady-state bifurcations of the model near the nonhyperbolic disease-free equilibrium. Then, the sensitivity analysis of the threshold parameter R0 and the positive equilibrium E* is carried out in order to determine the relative importance of different factors responsible for disease transmission. Finally, numerical simulations are employed to support the qualitative results

    Study of Mathematical Modeling for Plant Disease Transmission: A Systematic Literature Review during 2012-2022

    Many models representing disease transmission have been constructed and analyzed mathematically. However, literature studies on the mathematical models for vector-borne disease are sparse, especially on the plant disease transmission model. This study aims to obtain information about the research conducted and find room for developing the model, including mathematical analysis, intervention used, and biological factors considered. We employ a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to explore all of the studies on plant disease transmission modeling collected from four digital databases. First, the JabRef reference manager helps conduct the inclusion and exclusion processing. Then, we obtain 60 selected articles that passed the criterion. Next, the VOSviewer application is resulting a bibliometric analysis of the database containing chosen articles. Finally, we classify the model constructed based on the system used and elaborate on the intervention used. The results show that the existing researcher clusters are not linked to each other, and the models only consider usual interventions such as roguing and insecticide spraying. Hence, there is much room to build collaboration between the researcher and develop models for plant disease transmission by considering the other various intervention and biological factors in the model to improve further

    Human societies rely on the vast diversity of benefits provided by nature, such as food, fibres, construction materials, clean water, clean air and climate regulation. All the elements required for these ecosystem services depend on soil, and soil biodiversity is the driving force behind their regulation. With 2010 being the international year of biodiversity and with the growing attention in Europe on the importance of soils to remain healthy and capable of supporting human activities sustainably, now is the perfect time to raise awareness on preserving soil biodiversity. The objective of this report is to review the state of knowledge of soil biodiversity, its functions, its contribution to ecosystem services and its relevance for the sustainability of human society. In line with the definition of biodiversity given in the 1992 Rio de Janeiro Convention, soil biodiversity can be defined as the variation in soil life, from genes to communities, and the variation in soil habitats, from micro-aggregates to entire landscapes.
